Its a sniper it has no target lock. His AR shoots 5 shots at a time in target lock. The only thing that could be potentally OP is there bombs. (why am i replying to you) =.=

Railgun is very powerful in skilled hands, specially since people rarely bother to hunt down gunners anymore (not as many gunners around, so I guess it’s less important). AR shoots 3 shots when locked actually, although it is a tad glitched and shoots 2-4 shots in certain situations. The bombs are a little strong too, but gunners are a high-damage class that’s pretty easy to kill so it’s mostly balanced.

This is true, and really the game should have a wider variety of rank limited matches, but this is relatively difficult for a couple of reasons. First, there is not a large enough player base at the moment. Limiting ranks more than it is now would make real matches much fewer and decrease the players further. Second, the game caters to a casual playerbase. Unlike similar shooters like T:A, CoD, Halo, etc. this game is a browser game that essentially only requires players to load it to play. The other games all have some type of fee or download which means that they eliminate a good majority of casual gamers who are not willing to do whatever is required. Having such a wide variety of skill levels on a game like this makes rooms hard to balance even with ranks (I think optimally more ranks should be added). Regardless, once the playerbase gets larger the demand for segregated rooms will arise and the devs will probably add them or come up with another solution.

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Assassin needs buff

I haven’t played much lately so I don’t remember names, but I’ve met at least a few people who use assassin all the time or for at least a majority of games. And, even though the game is aerial combat based, everyone HAS to touch the ground (except maybe scout on training arena), specially on the CP maps and it doesn’t take long for an assassin to kill someone on the ground at all. Not to mention comparing the number of pros like that is a little unfair; scout came out long before assassin and more people played back then.

The game won’t answer anything, after all it’s a game. The developer’s however will give feedback on the suggestions occasionally, but they also read all the posts in the forum and are taking notes on them even if they don’t say anything.

Topic: Freefall Tournament / A Mini-Guide for Beginners

Pretty good tips so far! Although some aren’t relevant when using certain classes effectively, they are good for beginners. I’ve avoided training anyone who asks or even giving big tips, since I like my strategies to be secretive, but I’ll throw in a tip I think is very important.

- Know the maps Know them better than the back of your hand. Figuring out where you can or can’t stand, how the gravity in the training arena affects you, and knowing exactly how far your boosters and abilities can move you about the maps is extremely important. Spend some time just jumping around and then learn to do those jumps without looking or while shooting.

Asking a wish-granting Djinn to give every player one game-related wish? Sacrificing animals and foodstuffs to Satan in order to make the game more successful?

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Assassin needs buff

I said it awhile ago in the suggestions thread while people were talking about balancing; assassin is not UP, in fact when used correctly it’s a little OP. What’s really needed, in my opinion, is to make the assassin a little easier to use for people who aren’t masters of the class and to make it a little less powerful for people who are. It can kill any class in roughly 1-2 seconds (not sure if lag has anything to do with that, but that’s my experience), but people who don’t know how to play it well are just fodder essentially. Not sure exactly how to accomplish the balance, but the devs should step back and do a little redesigning. It would let more people play the class successfully and hopefully make it viable in more situations, while balancing its damage output, for the people who are skilled with it.

I honestly think you have no idea what you’re talking about Siz. Literally in my first post here I said that exact thing you said in your first paragraph. Not to mention that what Zamidah said proves my point; you’re presenting a confusing argument. I can guess what is a joke and what is not fine, but you post constantly switching between the two which makes me doubt what you are saying. And since you don’t know, I’ve been following the game and the forums, even FRG’s posts on other websites since around the time the game was released. Rank means little to me because it does not indicate skill level; which I have a grasp on for anyone I’ve played against multiple times. And I’m not biased towards tanks, I’m just most knowledgeable about them so it is easy for me to present the argument from their point of view. I’m realistic and have seen literally every update in effect, so I know what works and what does not. As I said in my last post as well, you are not playing in realistic games. Most games today consist of one or two high ranked players and a whole plethora of people trying to learn the game. Really, the games should be better stratified between players of different experience levels, but there is not a large enough playerbase right now for that. In games with multiple decent players having a tank or two makes no difference compared to any other pro class entering the battle. I’ve lost hundreds of games as a tank, even with other tanks or tech support; be it because the other team was better, or because my team was crap. So again, the issue is the spammability of tanks, not the shield. I don’t dread any class entering the game at any time, regardless of the class I’m using. People bad at any class I can beat, and people good at a class only make me learn how to play better.
Lastly, you can rank guns as “best” based off of damage, that’s your opinion. But, fire rate and bullet speed are a major contributor to DPS; which is a much more accurate way to rank weapons without using formulas to get the percent that the gun actually hits, etc.

Also, to respond to Gex, as I said before burstable bubbles are exceptionally hard to balance, the only way I can see it being balanced is if the bubble has a set minimum and maximum duration. So in theory they could increase the duration to 10 seconds or so and through damage it could go as low as 5-6 seconds. This way it could not be instantly bursted like when they tried that option before, but could possibly be more manageable. And the bouncy part I already addressed earlier as a possible solution, but I think having both things at once would be a huge drain from the tanks power. Last, it is getting oddly heated and I’m not much for arguing, so I’m only going to address things that are relevant.

Siz, if you seriously want an issue fixed you should not be joking about it. You can have it one way or another, but the way you “argue” right now makes you just seem like you’re arguing to argue, i.e. trolling. Either make jokes or contribute to the conversation.
Again though, your examples make me question if you’ve actually played this game. Not every class is meant to be a run in and shoot as you seem to think. Not even tanks should run in and shoot tanks, you shoot and back away. Assassins can easily kill an unsuspecting tank within a second or two and their boosters let them easily get away if the tank catches on. Scouts are the same way, except they kill slower and can get away easier. Blasters can actually outrun (and outboost into the air) a tank if used correctly. Blazers whole strategy seems to be suicide regardless, so that’s irrelevant. Gunners can outrun tanks as well and their railgun gives them a huge advantage; too many gunners use the AR and then complain when they get beat when they are meant to be snipers mainly. Techs and shockers are iffy, but that’s just how they are built; the top ones like Gex used to be able to beat tanks, but I haven’t played any even semi-good ones lately. Also, HMG is not even close to the third most powerful and that’s not even considering the fact that many of the shots can be dodged by a moving class.
As I said in my first post in this thread, you’re complaining because they are an easy class to use, and people like you don’t take time to use their class effectively anymore because the amount of top tier competition requiring that has gone down drastically. The old players like myself, Josh, Gex, rja, padrone, Kelf, dot, koj, etc. all fought and learned how to best play our classes fighting other classes who were the best in their field. It takes strategy and experience to do everything right, the game is reachable to new players, but takes a deceptive amount of practice to master. The shell needs to have its spammability reduced, it’s been shown in past updates that mosts nerfs past what it is now can make the tank a relatively weak class.

Siz, no offense, but all of your posts just sound like you are mad that other classes beat you. You make ridiculous suggestions, which make me wonder if you’ve ever played the class you talk about or know anything about the game in general. If you put that much of a nerf on a tank it makes it extremely weak. Same with the rocket suggestion. And as for the minigun, doubling the damage would make it ridiculously powerful.

So instead of all of this, why not just make the Neutron Shell have a set cooldown? In other words, make it so that the shell does not instantly come back when a tank dies. It would only recharge while the tank was alive, and if that wasn’t enough they could make it so that if the tank dies while the shield is recharging, the cooldown becomes even longer. It would stress using strategy and skill (as I often promote) rather than just spam.

Although to be honest, the majority of people now-a-days just spam their classes most powerful thing instead of using the class as what it is meant for. That’s why they have a hard time competing with tanks; even though tanks have been continually nerfed over the period of the game.

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Merit points [concept proposal and discussion!]

This system already exists in other games. Tribes: Ascend uses a point system very similar to this, just obviously far better balanced and more developed. The point system determines your position in the scoreboard for the match and your final intake is based on your position, time played, and win/lose. You get points for doing just about anything from reparing things, defend objectives, kills, assits, etc.
This game does need a way of compensating the players who do more capping or get more assits and FRG has mentioned they plan on adding a system that does things like that. Although, it is most likely a ways off as they are still pushing for the major content and balancing to come out first.

That would be…interesting to see. Knockback levels would need to be balanced some though; blaster’s Q can already throw a tank pretty far if it’s in a small space. Bullets could move it slightly, and by that I mean very slightly per bullet, otherwise all of the autos/flamethrower would send a tank flying. I would have to see it in action though since it might kind of make the tank useless for capping.

^I agree with basic that following the crosshairs would be too hard to control. The game is fast paced and you’re usually being engaged by people, so it would make rockets almost useless unless the person was right in front of you. Unless of course you camped, but even then the rockets would need to be fairly fast to hit anything in this game.

On an unrelated note: Was just thinking of some changes that could be done to the class models. For instance, tanks could have a reinforced left shoulder/arm (the arm they comet rush with) and perhaps some type of special device there that would explain the freezing. Similar things could be done with most of the classes; adding buttons/devices for Q-bilities, little boosters on the gunners feet for their copter kick, small packs on the tech/shocker for their deployables, perhaps showing the offhand weapon somewhere when it’s not equipped (that one might require a bit more coding), etc. Not sure if model changes are in the cards, I would imagine they aren’t a prioity, but cool little things like these would make the game seem more ‘finished’ and thought out.

XY greatly exaggerated in his post, I think he should look up the definition of game breaking. Tanks have been around since the start of the game, AND it had a stronger NS (neutron shell) + buckler then. If it was ‘game breaking’ the game would have died months ago. I see why some of the points are being made here, but people seem to have the wrong idea. The issue with the tank is that in reference to the other classes it is easy to pick up and play with, it takes time to master it properly though. This means that tanks seem more powerful because new players can beat experienced players by using the tank; a contrast to the other classes which can only beat experienced players in groups or with a good amount of experience using the class. The only thing that I see wrong with the tank is that the shell can easily be spammed by using it, dying, and repeating this. An experienced tank that learns how not to die (like experienced players of any class) has to use the NS sparingly or they will just keep dying. Lowering the duration of the shell and reducing its cooldown would not really be a solution to this, because it would make the shell almost useless. With the scouts turbo nerf it made sense because the scout could use it to easily escape or kill someone when activated; the tank however would just be damage free and not be able to heal or deal a significant amount of damage with their shield activated. So for balancing, as I’ve said elsewhere, I would like to see the spawn timer re-increased. It would eliminate the shield-die-repeat cycle and encourage people to learn how to play so that they don’t die by essentially rewarding them for not dying. The timer should actually vary between maps depending on their size, since with maps as small as shuttle bay dying has almost no effect because respawning puts players right back into the fray.

It’s low enough as it is. They raised it so killing people actually did something, rather than having them respawn quickly and be right back to the CP. I think it should still be higher like when they originally raised it, that way people would learn not to just suicide/kamikaze so much.

The glitch has been around for quite awhile now and they aren’t the first to exploit it. To counter it simply stand around the top edge of the circle, opposite of where they are shooting from, and you can shoot them from there. It will be fixed, so for now just be content knowing that you’re a better player than them simply because you don’t need to abuse a glitch

When purchasing ingame cash with kreds the boosts from the (now-removed) lab still appear as bonuses for some of the purchases. I didn’t actually buy any of those to test out what would happen, but I must assume that they’re not supposed to be there anymore. In fact, since you guys plan on removing all of the ways to spend ingame cash besides classes, the whole ingame cash purchase system should be done away with; at least for now.

If these are gone, there’d be no other outlet for people to spend their in game currency once they have all classes permed.
Another possible solution to the possible pay-to-win aspect would be removing the ability to directly purchase the zcoins, rather making it so only classes and such can be purchased, therefor the instant respawns can only be earned by playing the game. OR! maybe some other thing to waste zcoins on! :D

The class selection screen has been bugging me too, I like the idea that there should be something showing that you have the class perm. But, I would also like to see what classes are free for everyone that day. Right now, if you have perm. classes it’s hard to tell what classes are available to everyone else (specially when fighting other people with perms). On top of that I would like really to see the scroll bar done away with. For a game as fast paced as this the scroll bar just seems slow and inefficient. I understand that they want to show the class while selecting and that with more classes being added the list will take up a lot of room; but I’m confident there are better ways that it could be engineered.

As for the ingame cash part; the devs have mentioned on a few occasions that they want to add aesthetic changes and what not that could be purchased with the ingame cash. That could still be a ways off though. Removing the option to buy cash I hadn’t thought of, but it actually seems like something that should have already been done (Looking at it I see a bug too, so thanks for mentioning it :P). When the lab was removed and the classes could be purchased with kreds directly, the cash serves almost no purpose besides respawns, and I doubt people are buying cash just for that. I don’t think that it’s really necessary to remove the option to buy respawns, but the game is still in beta so trying out different things never hurts.
