Again, parents can’t see or know everything. Getting others involved is common sense, especially for a social species.
But the government can? Besides, kids can’t even legally buy these games; they must have an adult (presumably a parent) buy them. I won’t say it is impossible for a child to get a hold of the games without parental consent, but I think it’s fair to say that it is difficult.
I think the issue here is that we don’t have a standard definition of ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’. They are both general terms with some pretty poor connotations.

5: My real guess: A POSITIVE lightning strike during an intense turbulence patch damaged the plane beyond help. It fell out of the sky.
Aren’t modern airplanes designed to withstand lightning strikes?
I’m a curious to know how a multimillion dollar piece of equipment like a jetliner could crash and not be located. The crash itself isn’t the surprise here, but the fact that they don’t have a clue where it is. How can you loose something that large and valuable and not have some way to figure out where it is? I’m not by any means an aviation expert, but some form of communications (radio, satellite, cellular, whatever) must have reached somebody on land, correct? Besides, don’t commercial airliners track their flights throughout their journey?
Also yea what happens then when the already married gay couples die out?
There wont be any gays married left making the 2nd part of it kind of wasted for conservation.
Dude, gays aren’t an endangered species… They can’t die out unless the rest of humanity does. There will always be gay men and women.
The main point made about that in Freakonomics was that because the dealers at the top were making so much money, the very large risk being involved in being a drug dealer seemed worth it to the low level people, if they could one day get to the top. In the same way that people want to become famous actors or sports stars, even if there is a high oppurtunity cost in chasing that dream. So, you see, it’s not much different from many other legal careers.
Exactly.
Heres the PDF I promised, although you have to do some searching for the specific chapter I mentioned.
That’s a stupid argument. Drug dealing is only lucrative because it is illegal. The risks involved with drug dealing make it increadibly retarded for a poor person to take on. The assumption that drug running is the only legitimizing business is why young black ghettos in America are overrun with crack. Yes, you have to be sensitive to why they do what they do (and why it shouldn’t necessarily be criminal) but you can’t honestly suggest it is a support system of any kind.
Freakonomics actually covered this pretty well. Low lever drug dealers make less than minimum wage.
The ruling was a joke. The fact that they allowed existing marriages to remain says it all. If they truly thought the proposition was constitutional, they would have thrown those out, correct? It seems like the court is trying to appeal to voters rather than justice.
Agreed, if only to see how Eastern nations would have developed without Western interference.
If I had to choose my own though, it’d be religion, for the reason listed above. The world would be so drastically different, and it would be amazing to see the differences, for better or worse. To anyone that questions my motives, ask yourself, what has been one of the most influential aspects of every society, past and present? Religion.
i just realized many people on here fight for gay rights and rights of criminals but not the rights of gun owners?
I’m not sure if you were replying to me or in general, but I’m a big proponent of the second amendment… I’m just not as vocal about it as I am gay rights. I feel like the latter is the bigger fish to fry at the moment, you know?
gays deserve the rights that everyone else has. it’s not like we’re lesser for being attracted to the same gender. and for the record, i would be okay if slavery were still around, because it would be the norm. i would be taught that slave were a good and necessary part of society. i’m glad today that slavery isn’t around (for the most part) anymore, but the point remains. gays are not some sort of horrible abomination against god. we merely are. just as heterosexuals are, we are. are what? nothing. just are. there’s your friggin intelligent response.
How can you abhor the restriction of rights for some but allow others to have them eliminated?
I’d love to discuss the notion of free will itself and it’s physical implications (for there are many) with you though, just not here.
I actually made a thread about this. Look up Causal Determinism, it’s good stuff.
It pretty much boils down to what the BSG said… “Essentially, we don’t have a choice.”. The layman’s version is that everything has a cause and an effect, and in any identical situation someone would make the same choice. If you could replicate a situation in every thinkable way, you’d get the same result.
No, not true, that would be the basis of the whole entire discussion. Because killing a baby is infanticide and a baby has rights unlike a "Fetus’ so if people considered a child in the womb a baby, then we wouldn’t probably have abortion unless health for the mother is affecting from the pregnancy. Or the 1% from rape and incest…
I can call my dog a human but it doesn’t give it rights, right?
