Hey. I’m Zack, and I’m 18 years old. I’m tied for 3rd rank in my class of 587. I’m quite ambitious at programming in Flash. I’ve never had a truly formal class in it, I’m completely self-taught. I was working on a game but abandoned it, and I can send you the .swf if you want proof that I’m not in over my head. I’d be willing to learn other OOP languages besides AS3, as they’re essentially the same thing just different grammar. My older sister works as a database administrator at a global technology service company. Like in Flash, I’ve very crude experience in After Effects as well as Illustrator. Yeah I thought about it and you’re right. In my mind it seems like it will work perfectly but for some reason my main class thinks the function should only have one variable I’l post what I’ve got, its congested and crude but it should give you a good idea of what I’m trying to do.

…Edit I apparently can’t post it because it’s way more over the place than I thought it was. Point is my action class has multiple parameters and my main class things it only has one.

Is it not possible to extend a function like you would extend a sprite or movieclip? I would like to store actions for later, and I’m probably missing something obvious or going about it the wrong way, but here’s an incredibly simplified version of my code anyways:

Here I’ll try to be more specific… in illustrator when you rotate the object, it rotates around its center but if I were to look up its XY position, it would tell me where the object’s original top left corner was, not the center. This becomes a huge problem with different rotations in flash because in flash, rotation and XY are from a single point, but in illustrator they’re different…. I suppose I could go into illustrator and change the rotational registration point to the top left corner, but I really don’t want to reposition 253 objects individually.

Alright I’ve got a problem in flash and illustrator. Illustrator rotates objects around their centers BUT shows their XY through the original top left corner (if you rotate it, the top left corner is no longer the top left corner), but flash rotates around the registration point and also shows XY from that point. I have 253 objects whose XYs i got through illustrator and I’m putting into flash. They’ve also got ugly xscales, yscales, and rotations, I know how to make the XY work, however I have no idea how to convert the rotation from illustrator to flash. Help is very very needed and appreciated as I have been trying to figure this out for the past week.

Hey so I’ve got this function that has a lightning strike randomly every once in awhile and its not working, if I trace the alpha of the lightning it says it should be working but nothing happens on the screen, heres the function:
