“Don’t be an idiot, Harry! Help me pull you up!”
“Why should I bother?”

I turn to scream desperately at oncoming motorists, hoping for help. The thing about today’s society though – usually you don’t get any. I daren’t use one of the arms holding on to Harrison to wave for assistance; he could slip through my grasp. Even now, I’m having difficulty holding on. His jeans are denim, which is easy to grip, but I caught him as he was falling – not getting much of a handhold. He dangles precariously. Our balance is centered. I can’t pull him up without him putting effort into it as well. Inversely, he can’t let himself fall without pulling me over the railing too, unless of course I let go. I will myself not to.

“Pull yourself up!” I scream. He doesn’t respond, just continues staring into the darkness of the water below. In the panic, I forgot about the heavy rain. I’m soaked, and the sleek red metal of the bridge is slippery. My feet slide out from their hold on the bottom of the handrail, and I go hurtling up and over it. Now my knees are pressed against the top of the handrail between the slats. My feet swing over the open air. I’m forced to take a hand off of my friend’s leg to hold myself on the bridge. With this movement, I can feel my hold on his jeans getting weaker. I need to pull him up now.

“You’re going to kill me as well!” I plead. He looks up for the first time in minutes, his eyes wide, suddenly aware of the implications of this jump. I can see his mind processing: he sees my loose grip on his leg and how close I am to tumbling over with him.

“Okay, hold on,” he gives in. I breathe a sigh of relief. But as he reaches up for my hand, I don’t see any form of regret or sorrow in his eyes. He appears just as calm as he did before. I realise too late what he’s doing.

No!” I shout, as Harrison scrapes his fingernails across my fingers. My grip weakens, and gravity instantly takes its place, leaving me falling back on to the footpath, and my friend… falling to his death. I hear a scream the whole way down, but it’s not his. It’s mine.

I’m subscribed for some reason.

Anyways, there’s too much flame in the middle, but it needs to go up further for full letter coverage.

Your voice changed a lot between your last video and the video before that, BLOODY.

Anyway, I’ve subscribed coz I’m interested to see what new you’re gonna supply.

Hope all this PIT microchip and house mainframe stuff as standard human ownership in my posts aren’t too futuristic.

But I mean, if you’re allowing hoverboards…

The neighbourhood is sketchy – even a blind man could see that. My friend Rick told me of Harrison’s clinical depression. Perhaps this is why. To watch one’s suburbial community dissolve in such a way that they hide behind doors every night, fearing fellow residents, having to keep to the light; I know it would drive me insane. And it’s very saddening.

I reach Harrison’s door. Surprisingly, it’s locked. Strange… I think, Harrison told me he would be home from work by now. I shuffle through the contents of the pockets and find the spare key I was given. It clicks satisfyingly in the lock.

The house is dark inside. That’s mostly to blame for the late sunset in the sky, and the tall oaks shadowing over the house like talons, but the lights have also been left off and the curtains drawn. I wonder what’s up.

“Harry!” I call. No response. The house is small enough that he would’ve heard me. Hell, the whole housing commision would’ve heard me. I doubt that he’s home, but I can’t even begin to speculate why he wouldn’t be.

The light in the top right of the phone flashes red quickly, then dies, like it does every 20 or so seconds after a caller has left a message. The darkness draws my attention to it. I stroll over to the phone bank and press on the touch screen, lighting up the number pad and telephone information and options. The small box labelled “Messages” is highlighted, with several new messages. I click it and play the message. As it plays, I head over to the kitchen, switch on the light, and start rummaging through the cupboards for a snack to eat.

The phone system is linked to the house’s mainframe, and Harrison was kind enough to link my PIT tag to that. Using the information from my chip as to where I am in the house, the phone system plays through the walls into the kitchen specifically – only after receiving the transponded signal that I am of a conscious state, of course. Intelligent technology for some at the beginning of the century. Now, it’s standard, but the government still finds a way to suck as much money out of the public as they can from it.

The message is automatic; robotic and androgynous.
“This is a subsidiary automatic message sent specifically for the recipient: Harrison Joyce – confirming the termination of their bank account; security number SF25873. If: Harrison Joyce – did not perform this decomission, or you are not the intended recipient, please contact—”

“Stop message,” I say loudly. The phone bank in the next room picks up the speech, and promptly stops the message. I’m shocked as to why Harry would do such a thing. Even though I have only known him for a few weeks, why would anyone do this in this day and age? The next message starts playing automatically after a couple of seconds.

The next four or five messages are of similar nature, each confirmation calls regarding Harry’s job, and home insurance, among other things. I’m utterly bewildered. I take the biscuit tin and flick on the light switch for the small dining area, planning to sit at the coffee table (commonly known as “dinner table”). However, when the room is brightened, I see a piece of paper that was obviously intended for me, that I didn’t notice earlier.

GONE FISHING” it says.

My heart stops. No. No, this can’t be right. Young man like Harry? What is he – in his twenties still? No… he couldn’t…

Ever since this economic crisis began, suicide rates skyrocketed. The rising statistics resulted in the new coined phrase: “Gone fishing,” – another way of saying “I’m going to killing myself.” It became a very popular term, common in public places, especially in regions near the sea, or lakes and rivers.

I grab my overcoat from its hook and leave quickly. I’m going to have to be fast if I want any chance of catching my friend alive. The Golden Gate Bridge would be my best bet. The rain is heavier than before, and saturates my clothes in no time. I run.

If you want more than one set of wins for a game with ‘seasons’, then I personally don’t see a problem with that, but only if you do what Helltank already said:

“Another drink buddy?”

I nod my head to the barman, and he quickly supplies another glass of beer, which I pick up and sip quietly.

I sit on the rusty red barstool in the quiet pub on the corner of the street. Carla wouldn’t approve of me being here. I chuckle to myself. It’s taking a while to get used to San Francisco, and I miss my family. After leaving them with everything I’d earned, my credit balance is surely rising faster than there are minutes in a day. Hopefully we’ll fix this wretched economy…

The television hangs from a steel rod above the far end of the bar, flicking between news events quietly. It’s looks very old; perhaps even from the 2000’s. I wonder how it’s lasted so long in such a seemingly low-maintenance establishment the pub owner has here. Knowing recent events, I would say that the television will be the first thing to go, once the barman’s debt reaches its limit. The pub will be gone not weeks after.

I take another swig of my drink, and look over at the TV. It’s showing a story of the riots as of late. It changes shot every couple of seconds, and for one of them, I recognise a protest I was at a couple of days ago, near the Golden Gate Bridge. The barman notices my interest in the news article and quickly switches the television off as I’m watching it.

“I don’t needa see any of this shit any more than I already do every day,” he says to me, pointing out to the main street. I turn in my seat and look out the grimy window of the bar. Cars fly past. The rain patters peacefully. I don’t know what I expected to see.

I scull the rest of my drink and ask for the bill. It comes out to be 13 US Dollars for two drinks. That’s nuts. The barman slides the chip scanner across the benchtop towards me. I select the credit option, and hold my wrist to the machine, scanning the PIT microchip tag under the skin. More of my precious money spent away.

I’m staying with a friend of a friend named Harrison in his unit of a housing commission at the far end of the city. It’s not much, but it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel; a luxury that I can’t afford. Assuming nothing happens on the way there, I suppose that’s where I’ll go now. I pick up my dark overcoat I sat on the chair next to me and exit the pub, pulling the collars up high to hide from the cold pinpricks of rain.

How and Where did you make that? I want to make a title picture for a game I’m making, to.

Photoshop, and that’s for Youtube, not a game on FGF. Also, still need to know if it has too much fire, or not, it’s been bugging me and the people I asked voted 50-50.
[Totally didn’t use Youtube tutorial at all.]

How about this.

Your new one is better with the fire reaching up further, but I personally feel that there may be a little too much fire overall.

(Also if you have a Youtube account I’d love to know what it is and what you do with it.)

Escape

“We can leave now!” persist some of the crew members on board the escape vessel. Captain back900 seems to understand.

“Yes, let’s go,” he says.

“What about us? What about the aliens?” cry the other crew members, still on the space station, but before they can get a reply, the doors to the escape vessel close shut. The crew members stare at the escapees through a thick pane of glass separating the escape vessel from the space station.

“Sorry,” they mouth, as the escape vessel shoots off into the sky of Europa.

“So did they have the Mother Alien on board?”
“I suppose we’ll never know…”
“Oh yes you will,” says 10crystalmask01.

Everyone gasps collectively. It’s very dramatic.
“You!?” all the crew members exclaim.

“Yes, me,” he replies. “Though I don’t know why you’re all so surprised, I didn’t post that much anyway.”
And with that, the Mother Alien proceeds to kill everyone still on board the space station, even though it’s going to self destruct anyway.

Back in the escape vessel, the crew members spend the next six years of their voyage back to Earth in fear of a Mother Alien that may still be hiding; paranoid over nothing. But really, they’re all fine.

Wins:

These people win: adv0catus, back900, Darkboy5846, Lebossle, Gonkeymonkey, Pulsaris.

These people lose: occooa, Helltank, 10crystalmask, EEESMAN2424.

Roles:

You’re already aware of back900, Lebossle, TheIdiocyWizard, Woon1957, and 10crystalmask01’s roles as they were announced (Captain, Technician, Detective, Hatchling, and Mother Alien, respectively). adv0catus was indeed the Mercenary, as he claimed, and Darkboy5846 was indeed the Navigator, as he claimed. Everyone else were Meteorologists.

A note about the game experience:

Both Aliens failed to stay active and were replaced, and even once more, modkilled. Along with that, the Murder ability was not taken advantage of, and no strategy seemed to be in place. Simply claiming Meteorologist (as such Gonkeymonkey and Pulsaris did) would have allowed the Aliens to win, considering the trustworthiness of the other crew members.

I know some of you may feel like you don’t deserve the win because of this. I know some of you feel the game was broken, or was too simplistic and easy to participate in and win. It’s a shame that the game did not turn out as difficult (and mafia-like), and quite likely as fun, as I had hoped for. For that, I apologise.

If you don’t want to be awarded a win, announce it in the Master Thread, where I will be announcing your wins.

Regardless of the previous paragraphs, thank you all for playing and I hope you enjoyed the game. :)

I’m not keen on Tomatoman’s character either – not because of the Nazism or the unecessary over-detailed breast analysis or anything. It’s just that based off of his character template, I think Tomatoman’s participation (as in, what he writes) in gameplay could be… controversial.
I don’t mind playing with him in the game, even if his participation is controversial, because I’m interested in this RP. It’s just that (as you said, BLOODY) it may turn people off the game, and/or it may result in a less desirable gameplay. Regardless, I’m signing.

1) Have you ever played the role as a mafia in your previous mafia games?

Yes. I was the Vegetable Man or whatver it was in the Pumpkin one. Mafia fooled everyone, and we won (despite the odds). I think I may have been mafia alignments a couple of times in some long-forgotten mafias from 2012/13, but it was so long ago.

2) Which player(s) do you find most suspicious of up till now?

The inactives of day 1 (not necessarily day 2, because they may have become active again since night). Unless this is some devious plot to throw us off guard, I would have expected there to be a NK, and so the mafia is/are probably inactive.

3) Do you like spaghetti?

Spaghetti.

So, I was wondering, would it be worth it for us to go to the main Kongregate question thread and ask if they could bless one of our own w/ mod status? I rarely see Gevock, I’ve never seen the other two, and while we are pretty self-sufficient, a Mod would be nice to have. I’ve seen how inappropriate posts can get removed, and threads locked, etc. but I’m uncertain whether or not that’s a bot or if it’s an actual person going out to perform those actions.

Gevock doesn’t appear very active, and rarely takes part in actually posting in the FGF, but he does do the removal of posts and locking of threads. Also, I’m not sure it’s as simple as asking for moderator status and receiving it, or even Kongregate choosing new moderators.

However, with Marh and Zshadow not moderating our forums anymore, it’d be something to look into.

A cry in the night! Who have the oh-so-terrible aliens killed? Uh… themselves, apparently.

A replacement was not found before the deadline. Woon1957 has been modkilled due to inactivity. Her role was the Hatchling.

(Oh, and that first line was a crack at humour. The Mother Alien still has their murder ability.)

I can get on to it myself in a couple of hours if no one has done that by then. But of course, by all means, make another RQS if you’d like.
