I shoot a worrying glance around the rest of my colleagues as Hex shoots me a snide remark about my introductions suggestion, but the red shoes boy who was also in the fight replies apparently sincerely. He had a very quick change of heart from, as he said, the violent moronic asshole, to a confused teenager. Most, if not all, of the students here on the roof are older than me, yet I’m reaching the age where they’re not seeming so much older, and I understand our differences which creates the further feeling of… likeness.
What the hell? That was corny and stupid, Ronan. You don’t know these guys. At least you didn’t speak out loud.
I nod my head in understanding after Scott’s introduction.

“My name is Ronan, by the way, for those who didn’t know,” I say after him. “And uh… this is Hex;” I say warily, indicating towards Hex; “Tristian,” I point to the boy who has remained surprisingly quiet for a little while now; “Angeline,” I jerk my thumb behind me towards the air conditioner that Angeline still hides behind.

I take a deep breath before introducing the last name. “The Str-uh… Duncan…” I almost whisper, and wave my arm in the general direction of The Strangler. I don’t dare look at him, because there’s no doubt he’d be looking at me at the moment. I clear my throat and look around me. Oh yeah, that’s right. The outside world is gone. Nothing much to look at out there. I turn back to the students.
“So, the rest of you are…?” I ask.

[I’ll send out some modprods.]

I probably shouldn’t have qualified in the first place for this game because at the current time, with school coming back on, I’m in no state to really play many games and am only just coping with managing my own game at the moment. Feel free to just remove me from the qualifications list.

Ronan

{past-tense}

Upon hearing the crazy proposal, I close the door behind Angeline and myself and move a metre or so away. Turning around to Angeline, she looks very ill suddenly. I can’t blame her. The revelation is not only… impossible but also sick. How could this possibly have happened?

A lot of controversy goes on in front of me. An assortment of students from different years start yelling at each other, looking for clarification and sense in the midst of this madness. The Strangler suggests that the fog could destroy us, but is quickly shot down by a logical argument from some other girl nearby. Hex starts speaking gibberish and the blacked haired boy that’d been with The Strangler from when I first saw him just stares down his microscope in disbelief. Then The Strangler sees us nearby the door.

Without warning, he punches the wall in anger, and shoots me a look that suggests he may have intentions to do the same to myself. I hold my hands up defensively, showing that there should be no reason to hurt me. Angeline quickly shoves me and a couple out of the way as she goes behind an air conditioner, doubled over. I don’t see it, but from what I hear, it seems like Angeline is puking. Delightful. I try not to think of the sight, but luckily, she doesn’t come back around from behind the A/C and I don’t have to look.

And without further ado, yet another person bursts through the door of the roof. This one wears a pair of ridiculously bright red shoes, and I barely notice anything else about him. Hex mentions something about the dead people in the fog, and soon enough, the new guy goes crazy, rambling about ghosts and stuff. Hex and the new guy start arguing.

When guy launches a kick straight into Hex’s stomach with those red shoes, then things get fast-paced. We would soon have a fight on our hands, I could tell. Hex is crouched over, looking at a small piece of something black he drops on the floor. The empty packet of licorice beside the edge of the roof explains it. Before I can get between them, for the obvious oncoming attack, Hex lunges at the other guy, grabbing him by the stomach and crashing them both down on the floor of the roof, where they struggle and fight each other.

“Woah!” I yell out, ready to attempt breaking up the fight, but the older girl gets in first. She pulls out a small canister of some sort of spray, and sprays it right in the faces of the two boys. Looking at her again, she looks slightly pleased with herself. Back down on the floor, the two boys thrash around, holding their eyes. This girl certainly is a badass. Looks like she just pepper-sprayed them.

{present-tense}

While the two boys are lying on the floor in pain, I decide to do something. I step up beside them and grab Hex’s shoulders, pulling him back away from the red-shoes boy and lead him back to his sitting position he was first in on the side of the roof. He doesn’t resist; the pain from the pepper spray probably overrided the desire to attack the other boy. After checking he’s alright, I turn back to the others.

Just looking at them, I can see why our school has a bad reputation. We’ve got a bully, a druggie, a smoker, and a fighter, all right in front of me. Angeline, Tristian, the black-haired microscope boy and myself appear to be the most mature students up here. I stand in the middle of all of them.

“How about…” I start to suggest cautiously, afraid of some type of verbal or physical attack from anyone. My hands are held wide from both sides of my body
“We should all just calm down a little, alright? We’re all up here on the roof, so let’s just… introduce ourselves, yeah?”
The suggestion didn’t sound as good as I’d have liked it to, but in the middle of a bunch of students I don’t know, some of them being psychos, my confidence is lacking a lot from its usual standard. I look around the group, still fearful.

Knowing not what to do from this stage, I move back out to the edge of this circle-shaped gathering of teenagers and sit down on the rough cement of the roof, inclining for others to do the same.

[Quick notice: isn’t Jimbo’s character’s clothing incorrect, as all player characters wear a school uniform?]

[Thanks for picking up on that. Yes, all characters wear a school uniform, as written in the sign-up guideline. Accessory-type clothing is allowed however.]

[By the way, it was never said what kind of school bags the characters have, but I assume they can be unique, so Carter has something similar to this. Another way of showing why Duncan bullies Carter, because Diesel is a very expensive brand.]

[Yeah, school bags can be unique, and alrighty.]

[If RIM would like, I will not hesitate to change character description. I would only really change pants and shirts, I could probably maintain the obnoxious shoes, denim jacket, and aviators. That being said, if there is a literal uniform I would like to know what it looks like.]

[It won’t be necessary, unless of course you’d like to change it. I can simply remove everything except the shoes, jacket and aviators and you can keep the rest of your character.]

[The uniform is (how I imagined it) as follows: a light blue collared shirt with one pocket on the front, and the school logo on the pocket. This is worn by the boys and girls. Boys wear black shorts or black long pants and girls wear dark blue skirts or the same black long pants.]

Scott

That thick fog inching closer, conquering territory piece by piece, is made of people.

The revelation about the dead people was fine. The way it swept in on Kat was fine. I did not, however, imagine it to be closing in slowly on the school inch by inch. Just letting you know.]

And so I follow the figures that just turned the corner. Surprisingly, Angeline follows me, even after my pathetically short and potentially insulting speech. I must remember to give her credit later for her loyalty so soon after meeting someone completely random.

I turn the corner at the end of the corridor, and suddenly I’ve lost them. The hall in front of me is empty.
“God dammit,” I mutter, and walk up the hallway a little way. Then I hear them clomping up the stairs. I suddenly realise – they’re heading for the roof! Why didn’t I see that before? Tristian looked to have gone all the way down to the auditorium, only to leave right away. And he was the one always crapping on about “survival” and stuff. He probably thinks he’s recruited a little band of survivors.

“Come on, I know where they’re going,” I say to Angeline, and I lead her up to B Block.

Why was I doing this anyway? I thought I wanted to avoid the Strangler. Now I’m trying to follow him. What is wrong with me? I know I want to stop their little gang from doing anything stupid, but next time you’d be better minding your own business I tell myself.

When we arrive at the roof, I struggle with the door, but eventually it opens like Hex said it would. Without anyone noticing either of us we walk out on to the roof. The black haired boy I didn’t know the name of announces something sickening. This was terrible timing on my part, bringing Angeline here.

The fog is made of dead people.

“What!?” I exclaim to myself, perhaps a little too loudly.

[Accounting only for the people who have posted a valid reply, I believe everyone except Carter and Samantha are on the roof now.]

[Just for the record, Australia is one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse countries in the world, and if your character is African-American then so be it; unless of course you did want to change your character to be Aboriginal or whatever.]

@Maelord and SypherKhode822 and whoever else wanted information about this.

[There wasn’t a set country for this but I was basing it off of normal Australian (where I live) school years. I’ll explain it.
In high school, the years go from year 7 to year 12. There is no set age group to a year, but most students of the same age will fit into the same year group anyway.]

[Easy way of working this out. Get your character’s age (eg. 15) then subtract 6 (15 – 6 = 9). This is the year your character is most likely to be in. Second-most likely is one number up from this (9 + 1 = 10), and least likely is one number down (9 – 1 = 8). Feel free to decide which year group your character would be in, but unless for classes within the RP, its importance isn’t major.]

[Also, there are no 12-year old characters in this RP to exemplify the inverse, but if your character is 19, the least likely rule will apply and they should be in year 12.]

@Adeeb

[There’s been mention of other blocks but I thought Block B to be the highest point in the school, along with the entrance to the roof. However, it’s just a name and not greatly important.

[It could work. I’d like to see what anyone else has to say on it. For the time being I considered that 12-14 but primarily 13 to be year 7, 14-15 but primarily 14 to be year 8, 15-16 but primarily 15 to be year 9, etc. all the way to year 12.]

[Eh, we’ll see what happens.]

I look at her surprised.
“Yeah…” I say. “I used to be in the chess team in year 7. Not the science club though.”
I think about where the boys could possibly have gone. Tristian was with them, so perhaps he’d come all the way down to the auditorium to lead them off somewhere. But that wouldn’t make sense, because then why would the Stangler be leading?

“Those three that came out of the auditorium just before? They’re who I’m after,” I respond to Angeline’s second question. “I know that guy named Duncan, the bully, and the little guy that was chasing after them. Who knows what he’s doing, but I know for sure, the Strangler can’t be up to any good…”

I pause, searching for more words. There was another reason I wanted to follow them, but I couldn’t place my finger on it. I wonder as we walk.
We pass a long corridor on our right, and there I see them – figures at the end if the hall.
“There,” I exclaim softly. I don’t want to attract their attention.

I turn to Angeline.
“Look, it was nice meeting you, but if you really want to go back to the auditorium, as I can tell through your reluctantance, feel free.”

I scold myself in my head.
Why so harsh Ronan? You’re not trying to ditch her here… you’re trying to get her to go her own way, whichever way that may be. You sounded like you didn’t even want her here.

I look back down the corridor. The figures at the end have turned a corner. I needed to be after them now. And then I remember why I wanted to follow them…

I’m afraid of the auditorium. There is nothing there for information or understanding of our paranormal situation. In there, all we’ll be waiting for is fear to take over. I need to be out and about, even if it is with the Strangler.

This is my favourite badge because I consider it a great accomplishment. It took me a very long time (that lasted over several years I believe) to achieve perfection for all fourteen 3-5 minute songs and just over 10,000 people have achieved this impossible badge, so I’m proud of my perserverance.

I think the argument has already been just about finished up by Gevock but in my opinion, if you don’t want someone to have regship or a second game, simply don’t say anything.

I’ve been surprised at some people when they’ve requested regship or a second game after a short time, even annoyed in one instance that I thought the user was just being stupid for asking regship after little regularity at all (I’m not gonna be mentioning names), but hell, I haven’t called them out and shut them down for it.

(This isn’t directed at anyone particular either. I’m just saying this for future reference.)

Ronan

“No,” I reply. “In fact this looks chaotic…”

A boy from a higher year I recognise by the name of Dave is keeled over on the stage, holding his neck. I wonder what the hell has happened to him. He’s surrounded frantically by The Queen and other teachers, and some students push urgently, trying to get up on to stage and see for themselves. Towards the back of the auditorium the teenagers remain seated, but apart from the select few, everyone is up out of their seats and bustling about, panicked. A constant warble of fear that was similarly experienced down at the front gate earlier echoes around the tall wooden walls of the hall. This was not the assembly I expected at all. I don’t want to step inside the auditorium just yet…

Something catches the corner of my eye. It’s the Strangler, yet again. He’s got that boy with him still, but this time there’s no one escorting them. They’re leaving from another door to the auditorium, on their own. I don’t move. They walk away cautiously. And then suddenly the boy from the roof, Tristian, comes running out of the same door, following them.

“Dammit…” I mutter under my breath. I take Angeline’s hand. Yet another action where I’ve surprised myself. Gotta stop doing that, Ronan.
She seems surprised by my grasp on her hand, but I lead her over to the door the three boys left from. There’s a boy with diamond eyes and blond hair standing inside the auditorium, right near the entrance. Good. I need someone to question.
“Psst.”
He notices me and comes over.
“What’d we miss?” I ask. He looks at me uncannily, not responding. I realise I’m still holding Angeline’s hand. I let it go and move closer to him.
“You saw those three guys leave a minute ago. Something happened here in the auditorium. What?” I ask more sternly. He replies. He tells Angeline and I all the information that The Queen announced and what followed shortly after, with Dave claiming he was choking on fog. I poke my head through the door quickly. Dave is no longer up on the stage but down near the front of the auditorium, looking like he’s receiving quite a disciplinary talk from a few teachers. No staff member has looked up at the diamond-eyes boy and myself yet. I duck my head back out of view.

“And those three boys?” I ask. He shrugs. I think for a moment. What could the Strangler’s intentions possibly be, wandering around the school? He surely couldn’t be looking for a kid to pick on – not with all these scared juniors already gathered up for him right here in the auditorium. Is he trying to get away from trouble? And what was Tristian doing with him? Whatever it is, I decide I best go check it out. There’s no point letting anyone go off and destroy the school or god knows what.

“Come on…” I mumble to Angeline, and I briskly walk away from the auditorium in the direction I saw the boys heading off in.

[Guys, feel free to write about any specific time as long as it’s not too far in the past and has a rough time set to it, but it’s also good to catch up as well.]

Ronan

“New?” I respond to Angeline. “Nah, I don’t think anyone has any idea at the moment…” I trail off. I suddenly remember my introduction.
“I’m Ronan, by the way.” She nods understanding.

We head to the auditorium. I remember the scene I saw from the roof – the fog covering every inch of space that wasn’t part of the school. My thoughts go to my family: my mum, dad and younger sister Naomi. My heartbeat increases. Why hadn’t I thought of them earlier? Has the fog fallen on them as well? Are they safe – alive? Naomi would have been at school like myself, mum would have been at home and dad would still have been at work. As long as they weren’t driving any cars, if the mist appeared, they wouldn’t be involved in any serious accidents. I breathe several deep breaths.

“Your family out there somewhere?” I ask Angeline casually. “I sure am frightened about mine.”
I surprise myself with my second statement. I didn’t actually plan on saying that… it just sort of slipped out. I look away from her worrying eyes.

You barely know her Ronan. Don’t be foolish.

I look through some windows to the outside sitting area as I walk along the corridors towards the auditorium. Usually the place would be packed with students. Today, the skies darken the entire ground and only a few students walk through, also stumbling towards the auditorium. For some reason this dim scene fills me with sadness.

I turn a corner and immediately go tumbling over another body. I should have been looking at where I was going; I trip over the girl and skin my knees on the carpet, which is little more than a millimetre thick. I grunt at the pain. Out of impulse I shout at the girl despite the collision being my fault.
“Watch where you’re going!”

I look at her irritated expression. Wait a second… this is the girl I pulled from the crowd of students back at the front gate perhaps twenty, thirty minutes ago. She also kneels, knocked over from the impact.

I notice the other people nearby. Oh shit…
I stop myself midway through rising and stare over at him, trying not to be seen.
The Strangler lurks further up the hallway with another boy. I’m not afraid of him, but I prefer not to get in his way… not after the “incident” anyway. I realise the principal Ms Quinn (who most people have nicknamed “The Queen”) is escorting them. Hm. Good.

I look across at the pretty girl, who’s picked herself up of the floor.
“Must be fate,” I joke. “What’s your name?”

Ronan

Fog repellant? What is this guy on about… I roll my eyes despite the situation seeming more and more chaotic.

The roof gives just about the same vision as down on the ground. Fog surrounds the school, but for some reason, dares not enter. At least from up here we can see the shape of the fog. It’s towers high into the sky but doesn’t seem to even come within any of the school’s “air space” as such. The boy named Tristian asks if we have any ideas. I take a moment to think, not responding. Hex looks to be doing the same.

“Let’s go check other rooms,” he says. Well… I’m not exactly sure what we’d be looking for, but okay… I think to myself. Tristian leads the way off the roof and with idiotic clumsiness, trips down the stairs. I flinch at the pain inflicted on him. Then again, he makes a grab for the door handle and he falls over yet again.
“You okay?” I ask from up a couple steps. He doesn’t seem to hear me.

Then the loudspeaker goes off.
“Second call for all students. Please come to the auditorium right now for a crucial meeting. Stay away from the mist. Teachers, if you find any students around the school, please direct them to the auditorium. Thank you.”

Hmm. Must’ve missed the first call. Nothing better to do at the moment though… I think, and walk off down the hallway heading for the auditorium. I turn around to see if Tristian and Hex are following me, but Tristian appears to be asking Hex a question. Oh well. What could I have expected if I left without saying anything? I continue downstairs.

Our small little group of boys I haven’t even met yet reach the third floor. I turn around to check that there hasn’t been anyone following us. There hasnt, including the girl I bumped in to before. Anyway, I didn’t even know who she was…
I instantly dart to the nearest room, a history room and yank the door handle. It doesn’t open. I go for the next closest door when the guy that smells of something strange speaks.
“Actually I have a better idea. I know how to get to the roof.”

The roof? But… how could he possibly know? Like, isn’t the roof restricted to only the janitor and stuff? Regardless, I want in. The roof is an even better idea.
