Was just about to win 2-0 × 2 when it said connection was lost. Now the draft is listed with no winner and N/A placement for me so didn’t receive any price. I hope this doesn’t interfer with the saturday night promotion card thingy :(

I’ve already explained a extremely simple, self-balancing matchmaking in another thread. Basically you have a pvp level which is initially your current level, the pvp level increases when you level. When searching for a pvp fight you are matched with players with similar pvp level. If you lose your pvp level decreases and if you win it increases, it’s that simple. You could of course tweak the system, should it increase linearly or exponentially to prevent low level spenders to climb to the top? Might mean you also have to re-balance the reward system, which is pretty much pointless as the rest of the pvp as it is now anyway.

Played a draft (ID 63453) where there were several problems. First I’m thrown out of game during the second round, I manage to come back and apparently get to play two cards in a row (even if I was winning that one anyway). Then I’m stuck at “round 3” in the first match (where I won 2-0). I’m forced to refresh and now starts in the middle of final where I’ve seem to already played cards automatically, making me lose first round. Also the third and fourth players had problems, one got stuck in lobby screen and the other was matched against himself…

Just played a draft (ID 63453) where there were several problems. First I’m thrown out of game during the second round, I manage to come back and apparently get to play two cards (even if I was winning that one anyway). Then I’m stuck at “round 3” in the first match (where I won 2-0). I’m forced to refresh and now starts in the middle of final where I’ve already played cards automatically, making me lose first round. Also the third and fourth players had problems, one got stuck in lobby screen and the other was matched against himself…

EDIT: Oh yeah, also I only got one token, isn’t it supposed to be double tokens this week?

Imposible, they are only sent of you have played the game at least 5 times and last played less than a week ago or if you have played at least 10 times (or something like that)

Then why did I yesterday got a PM from Doom Forge? I tried the game maybe… 3 times, 2-3 weeks ago. One idea could of course be to go back and down-rate games that send you PMs, maybe then they will stop :)

Here’s a suggestion (or the beginnings of one at least): have a checkbox for users to opt in when joining a duel that says “wait for a comparable opponent”. Then have it check the relative strength of opponents. I’d define strength as level plus # rare cards plus 2*#epic cards plus 4*#legendary cards. Or something along those lines. Then if the total is within 10%-30% of each other, they can duel.

A simple implementation for balance would first to judge a player by his level and match accordingly in a certain interval. If you win you would then be moved up in your pvp level, either by a set amount or depending on your opponents level. Implementation wise you would only need to store one extra variable, “PvP Level Modifier”, which would be added to your level when matching players. This is of course only a simple solution, but still better than having no solution in what could be a fun pvp game.

This is a big problem in public brawls – inconsiderate players are wasting lots of peoples time.

I would say that at any multi-player battle where a timer is finished the player should automatically turn on auto-combat, it’s not like it’s hard to turn off if you come back.

How about balancing the pvp system before adding new features to it…? I really see no reason why a lvl 10 should face a lvl 150 or a lvl 80 should face a lvl 300+, the outcome is more or less given. Basically this tell the player “We dont want you to do pvp until you’re at least lvl 150-300”. There is really no reason to shut out players in such a way because of a horrible match-up system.

In a perfect world, no one would use ad-blockers.

The ad supported model makes the developers want to rather make bad games that you play often than good games you play a few times.

The primary reason for energy systems in games is to encourage players to utilize microtransactions, rather than to earn additional ad revenue from a higher number of gameplays. Games with energy systems are far more popular on sites like Facebook (where revenue has nothing to do with gameplays) than they are here.

In THE perfect world there wouldn’t exist any ads :p. I tried turning Ad-blocker off several times, but managed to have it off for max ten seconds before I get angry and annoyed with all flashing ads. I’ve already requested a feature to turn of animated ads, something that I guess wont be added even if it is (should be) easy to implement but probably too few would use instead of ad-blocker.

I realize that developers add energy to make players do micro transactions, but the fact that they get a share of ad money is adding (:P) to the problem. As a developer myself I cant understand how one can damage your own creation for the sake of revenue.

You could of course connect effectiveness of ads to the payout, that is how many click on the ads. If my game show 100 ads where 10 click and yours show 100 ads where 5 click I should probably get two times the payment. No idea what system they have at the moment though.

I just realized why so many of the new games got energy meters, it’s partly Kongregates fault. The ad supported model makes the developers want to rather make bad games that you play often than good games you play a few times. I know it’s too much to ask to change the payment setup and ad showing, but they should be aware that they are supporting this horrible “feature” with the current model. If instead ads would be changed after a set time when playing a game this would promote making games that you play for longer time instead of all the money scheme games that doesn’t allow you to play more than a few minutes…

At least this realization makes it easier to justify using Adblocker for me =). In a perfect world everyone would activate their ad-blocker program for the energy meter games…

If I wasn’t so cheap I would create a faction, “Autoclicking Warbond Bots”, that would be controlled by autoclicking bots (duh). This faction would quickly become rank 1, only me thinking that is sad :P?
