Topic: Trimps: General Discussion / Finally retiring from Trimps

So I’ve decided to retire from Trimps (note – I’m not calling it quitting) and I wanted to share why mainly because I feel like GreenSatellite is working hard on the game and he might appreciate some feedback.

I’ve been playing since pre-release and have collected nearly 2 million helium so I have a pretty long experience with Trimps. I feel that GreenSatellite has done a good job updating the game with consistent fixes and improvements. Unfortunately, there’s a major issue I have with the game that I don’t think will ever be changed – It’s not really an idle game.

I doubt I’m telling anyone that has played Trimps anything new when I say it’s not really an idle game. It requires a lot of micromanagement and constant checking to make any progress. Once you get to zone 120 or so it feels like a major grind, to me at least, and the best way to proceed is to do a bunch of shorter runs with fast portals which only makes it worse. After nearly 50 portals, I’m got burnt out on doing the first 80 zones.

How could it be better? Well, I think some of the anti-idle nature of the game has to be changed, though I’m not sure if GreenSatellite or others want that to happen, so that’s fine. This is just my opinion after all. Specifically, I feel like the game needs some way to auto-purchase upgrades and storage while idling. I don’t think it needs to be 100% auto and it could be a good perk to unlock for people that after already played a fair amount. But the point is that I should be able to leave the PC for a few hours or even the day and still make progress (other than just grinding a map).

Another issue I have is that the game doesn’t allowed you to continue making progress offline. Yes, you do get resources from trimps, but not from clearing maps/zones. So if you want to make any progress, you really are forced to leave the game on all the time.

Anyway, that’s just my two cents. I appreciated Trimps while playing but I feel it’s time to move on. Thanks for the fun and good luck.

Topic: Trimps: General Discussion / [Suggestion] Uber housing challenge

I like this idea, but I think that even a 5 times improvement on the lesser housing is still not worth it. When you have millions of trimps, but another hut – even at 30 trimps – just doesn’t matter.

I think that for the lower level housing to have any sort of use past z50, then they need to have some sort of compounding bonus. I wouldn’t want to be more powerful than the warp/gigastations, but would be interesting if it gave players an alternative. Perhaps it could be a perk, unlocked by the above mentioned challenge (which I like), that gives players a fixed (by perk level), compounding bonus to population capacity for the number of same buildings within a type. Give the perk a cap if there’s concern about it being too powerful.

That or just make it possible for me to disable buttons from showing up after a certain point ;)

I agree. I don’t like the fact that I have to keep the game running to make progress. The game should work offline just the same as online since you still have to check in regularly to buy upgrades, storage, etc.

I support this. It seems like it should have been that way from the beginning honestly, because without it there’s almost no point in using Repeat Off.

Topic: Trimps: General Discussion / Auto Buy storage for idle

Packrats doesn’t cut nor does it address my issue. I still think a storage building queue would help tremendously, but only one storage building per resource. The idea being that if you need that storage upgrade before going off to work/bed/real life, you can do it. It’s really just a QoL issue.

I think the wormhole should be moved so it’s not in the list with the rest of the buildings or it should have a confirmation menu/disable button.

Topic: Trimps: General Discussion / Auto Buy storage for idle

I agree that it’s not entirely a money issue – That’s why I made my second point. As I said, I don’t believe the idle game should be entirely non-interactive and having storage limits is a good idea.

Topic: Trimps: General Discussion / Auto Buy storage for idle

I agree with this in general, but understand why the game wouldn’t want to have some sort of generic auto-buy for storage even at premium cost. First, it’s just about the money. GreenSatellite makes money selling bones and bones are how you can buy extra resources and auto-storage. Second, the way the game is designed, if auto-storage was added, it would be really easy to ignore the game completely – idle games shouldn’t be completely non-interactive.

I think a good compromise would be allow players to queue up to 1 extra storage. While the storage is in the queue, all additional resources of that type are used to pay for it (meaning you don’t collect any in resources until the queue storage is paid for). This would help me a lot because I typically end up feeling stuck playing later into the night than I want because I’m waiting to just get the next storage. I know, that’s just a personal issue – this game isn’t worth losing sleep over but I do it anyway ;)

Ok, thanks for the input. I was afraid of that.

Topic: Global Assault: General / PvP matching is terrible

I’ve only started playing this game recently, but I’m thinking it’s already time to quit. Why? My primary reason is the PvP match making provides nearly impossible to beat opponents. My squad’s power is only 236, yet I get matched up against players that’s are 300+. Not to mention my dominance score is only 2480 and the people I’m matched up against are all greater than 3000 – and one nearly 3800…

I don’t see how this is suppose to be fun. I’m certain I can guess what is happening – the Global Assault team is intentionally creating match ups that too difficult to beat with the thought that it will encourage players to spend real money. Where does it end though? I give them money once to get over the hump and then I’m pushed into new opponents that are too difficult again? No thanks.

Topic: Bloons Monkey City / Tower Descriptions

I wish the game had better description for tower abilities/upgrades. It’s especially bad since the wiki is mostly empty for Bloon Monkey City.

For example, what does the second tier super monkey upgrade called Plasma Blasts really do? Does it pop more layers, pierce more bloons, do extra damage against ceramic bloons? I have no clue and the game doesn’t tell me.

It seems like a lot of upgrades have the same lack of detail.

Not loading for me at the moment either and I’m using FireFox. It was working this morning (about 3 hours ago for me).

Topic: RobotPet / Suggestions

A couple of suggestions that I think would make the game better:
1) Auto-mixer – Automatically mix items of the same color and/or item until you run out of items or money. I don’t even bother mixing anything in the game because it’s such as clickfest.

2) Purple to gear conversion – I’d like an option, just like the auto sell for white/green/blue items, that lets you convert purple items into their gear value. It doesn’t change the value or cost anything, but it clears out your inventory of unneeded items.

3) More real levels – I’d like to see more/harder levels with unique bosses and reasons to actually use active skills.

4) Gold to caps conversion – This doesn’t currently exist, but I’d like to see a way to convert unneeded gold items into caps rather than just selling them for hydrogen.

Also I would like for the arrow to auto fire as long as I hold the mouse button. It’s like it’s trying to give me carpal tunnel syndrome.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Prime World: Defenders] Bad Luck or Loaded

As I just mentioned in another post, the game is most certainly loaded. And, yes, I think that if you don’t have a 20% chance to get any of the cards then it’s loaded. The game presents it like you drawing from a 5 card deck, then it should be evenly distributed chance of getting one particular card.

Anyway, I’ve been keeping track and I’m at least 10 unique tower cards shown without a single one won. That’s a .4^10 → .0001 chance of happened. So it’s statistically possible, but given other peoples’ results, I doubt it’s a “fair” draw.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Prime World: Defenders] rarities & probabilities?

One thing that I was going to add to this is the the odds of a unique card showing up as a reward seems reasonable good at high levels. I haven’t been tracking it closely, but it’s probably 1 out of 10 medium wins you’ll see one. I’ll start tracking this and see.

The problem is actually getting it. I started keeping track (after not receiving at least a few unique cards) and I’m current up to 6 times in row that a unique card was shown and I didn’t win it. That includes going for it three times (1 free, plus the two paid tries). Out of 5 cards, you get 3 so there’s a 60% chance you’d get whatever card you want if the odds were normal. They don’t seem to be. 40%^6 = .004 → so either I’m one of the unlikely 4 out of 1000 players that just hit a bad streak or the game tweaks the odds. I guessing the game tweaks the odds because I’m probably more like 40%^10 → .0001 or even worse.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Prime World: Defenders] Evolution Question

I know that you should evolve your cards with equal evolution level cards to get max value – If you want the best red version of the card, you need to evolve from two yellows (not one yellow and one green).

My question is does the level of the card being evolved matter? Meaning should I get two cards to maxed level before evolving them first in order to get the max bonus?

I could try experimenting myself, but I’d rather avoid wasting time and money if someone already knows.

Thanks!

Topic: Kongregate / Filter Games

I would like a way to filter games that I see in Kongregate. I have absolutely zero desire to play, or even see, certain games such as ones with the multiplayer tag.

Probably no one from Kong will read or care about what I have to say, but a filtering system would be a great. You already have the key words so I don’t think there’s any technical limitation for implementing some sort of filter system.

How do you enable sound? I don’t see any options for it in the settings. Thanks.

Topic: Swords & Potions / Suggestions: Swords & Potions

Has there been any comment from Edgebee about the addition of a mass crafting system? I signed the petition and I absolutely think it’s important to the long-term playablility of the game – at least for me. The further I get into the game, the less fun I have. Each day is a scramble to churn out items and S&P feels like game about how fast can you click thru menus.

I can honestly say that if Edgebee implements a mass crafting system, I’ll spend Kreds on his game. If not, I’ll probably quit soon without giving a single Kred.

Topic: Swords & Potions / Quitter's Suggestions

So now giving up on this game after a couple of days and I figure I’d leave a some quick reasons why. I don’t care enough to give constructive criticism so I’m just going to say why it sucks.

Things that suck:
1) Improvement. It’s terrible.
2) Lack of tutorial (took me a while to figure out improvements for example)
3) Clunky interface
4) Crappy chat/mail system. No easy way to talk to guild mates
5) Guild pretty much suck. There’s no reason to stay in one.

If anyone thinks I’m wrong, too bad – it’s still counts. Why? Because these are my opinions after about 40 “days” of playing. If the game hasn’t shown me it’s awesome after that long then it’s the game’s fault. Besides, a lost customer is still a lost customer even if the customer is wrong.

That’s all and good luck.
