They haven’t, they’ve been in and out of Swedish courts because the US government is putting pressure on the Swedish government to convict people of no crime at all. If the Pirate Bay guys were in Britain, they could be extradited by the US government by breaking a law that does not even exist in their country. The US government is disgusting and so are the corporations behind it.
