I actually like the sound of this system. I’d include guild buildings on the tiles to have the same upgradable feature that season 2 tiles currently have, with donated resources being the primary fee for upgrades.

Still no response regarding refunds, and since I see that facebook season 2 has once again become an Ebay event with a “buy the map” option still available (and actually being USED before theres even CR added yet), instead of a challenge worthy of my time, I guess it’s time for me to look for a different game to play. Very disappointed how it turned out. You devs even took away our ability to use tile troops for fighting, which makes resource safe-keeping impossible. Maybe if you eventually make it out of beta officially, I’ll pop back one day and see what you did to improve things, but right now, I am afraid you’ve taken away all the things that made this game appealing to me, and added cash attacks which just downright spoils my whole enjoyment of the game. I wont be spending 12hrs trying to outmanoeuvre “the enemy” when they simply buy back everything in one half hour of a single player coming online, that’s not strategy. Thats hire purchase. I’m not interested in giving such players something to fight against. So for now, this is goodbye from me for both versions.

Its a case of small dedicated teams being more effective as a strike force than an entire guild working under debuff. So big guilds only need to organise raiding parties to control the bastion and guilds, no? beside the strategy this means all guilds with sufficiently geared players need to work out some form of agreement between themselves, after all a building only gives CR if its held for 6 hrs, there’s enough decent players ingame to ensure stalemates that stop EVERYONE from benefitting from a tiles cr income. Either continue to fight each other for the rest of the season and risk losing your edge every so often, or set up something by which everyone benefits. Just sayin.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Skyshard Heroes] The best building deployments

Staggering buildings, like brickwork in a wall, whilst keeping those building within range of a tower or bunker is probably the best deployment. If troops are zigzagging in and out around the edges whilst taking damage during each step of their path, then you have a better chance to reduce or even annihilate them before they get close to your citadel. The main problem is, most troop types have different behaviour patterns, some will hit the nearest building to their left when they destroy a target, some will head right. You really cant plan anything to perfection beforehand in a pvp fight like this, since you dont always know what the enemy will use 100% of the time.

If your outer buildings are 1 tile spaced, and your inner ones are all 2 spaces distant from the outer ones, you should have a good layout to keep troops busy, with not too many gaps for spawn rush.

One question occurs to me, if seasons is going to wipe away all those tiles we’ve grown attached to and handreared, what actual use do you suggest we put orbs to then? I doubt you will sell many of the resource ones if the tiles are getting wiped and reset every month, fresh for the new season that comes along. Making new orbs in a Forge building sounds good in theory, but if we’re not interested in placing them on tiles that have a limited shelf life…..what else ya got up your sleeve for them?

Are the orbs going to be relegated to an adhoc usage, placed as an afterthought, instead of a tactical decision which would now be the case if used on the current map?

Its all going to be removed anyway when seasons comes in. That will fix the unbalanced building buffs. Just like the single player campaign will “fix” the pvp bugs…kinda..

Orbs bug found: When I had orbs on tiles, then left the guild I was in, the orbs stayed on the tiles I had in the old guild. I made a new guild, the orbs “appeared” to be in my store but were unusable – it said I didnt own any, despite there being some visible on the store listing. When I returned to the old guild, and got the tiles back that I had previously owned and placed the orbs on, they were still on those tiles. Oh but I didnt get every tile back, one tile was still left with someone else, so I assume they are getting the benefits from my orb. This is all on the facebook version, but I assume the same issue will be valid here too. Whilst I was out of guild, and the orbed tiles were owned by others, they checked and confirmed they didnt see orbs on those tiles. I’m going to assume they didnt see them but the orbs WERE there at the time, since they very definitely were when I got them back, would this mean that according to the server the orbs WOULD work for someone who doesnt actually own them?

Jeez synap, it’s almost like you don’t have beta testers for this kind of thing :P

Not me alex, I’m done with conquest just as much as you are. In fact, apart from the odd upgrade on my hometown I’m done with the kong version, I’ll be on FB from now on.

I can understand you being pissed but I’ve never wanted you to f.off…and yes, I’d have joined the fight against you with any guild who’d help, but not because of dislike, there’s never been that from me. The only reason I would fight you is the one I’ve always been honest about, you were the end game for me, the final challenge. Just beating you guys once fair and square was my personal goal, not this carrion crow race for the middle that conquest turned into. After I’d help accomplish that, I’d probably never want to take you on again. But I’ve been honest about that from the start, just wanted to see if it could be done. The honest way. This isnt a reflection of how I felt about YOU guys, more a reflection of my wanting to “win the game” as I saw it. It’s all pretty moot now, but I did not participate in the final rush, and still dont really feel like fighting over the scraps. I’ve invested $ in the tiles where bothy have been stationed, theyre the ones I prefer to those you monks held. Even the bastion doesnt interest me, it’s just another tile that makes the guild who owns it a target. It doesnt compare to the hand crafted tiles I’ve had for months, for all its unbalanced uberness. Not to me. I’m finishing my buildings round now, and i doubt I will bother to return to play here properly either, other than to upgrade then leave again. This was not the pvp i came here for, it’s a mindless rush to loot the dead.

Don’t leave. Propaganda tactics are a common ploy in pvp games, don’t take the criticisms of others to heart, that’s just letting them win without a fight. You guys have a place here in the game just as much as the rest of us, in some cases moreso. Having some other guild in the centre will not improve the game, it will simply give all the other guilds a new target to try to beat, and possibly a target that is less likely to adhere to strict self control of its members and its borders. The game needs you. Now get your butts back in the driving seat and kick some righteous arse.

As for the rest of you guilds who will read this, for shame! Fight fair and stop demoralising your opponents when you have them against the wall. You’re going to regret not having the monks around at some point, I can guarantee it.

Having just logged in and found out that most of the monks have quit playing due to propoganda tactics, my previous post may seem a little redundant at first glance. I however want to point out that the same problem still exists with regards to bulk tiled guilds fighting whoever owns the middle ground, be it monks, agency or dorothy & toto. Tile units should be encouraged as a feature, since theyre actually implemented into the games mechanics, and it should not fall to having to use home based units only in order to beat your way to the bastion.

I sincerely hope you guys plan on making conquest fun soon, as it stands with the current way things are, there’s very little fun to be had with it. The combination of bugs and debuffs on tilecounts means theres more fun to be had being in a one person guild than in a full one, not to mention the all too often whined about bastion buff making it almost impossible to do anything against “whoever” owns the centre stage, unless you drop all your current tiles and play snake, which is just suicide eventually. A pitched battle is out of the question right now, since it will be months to get even the best tile troops ready to compete with the defences and buffs theyre up against. That leaves homebase units, which let’s be honest, are in a limited supply for long term warfare. I realise you wanted to make it tougher to beat bastion buffed buildings but i fear you’ve somewhat overcompensated it to the extreme. And I’ve used $ as well as timer reduction bonuses to try and get tiles ready for fighting, it just isnt anywhere even close to being feasible. Frankly speaking, I am thinking it was a mistake to have altered the bastion and make it “work”. I realise that monks dont actually want you to alter it back, and I don’t blame them at all for wanting to keep it the way it is, but realistically, where’s the fun in them feeling they dont even need to personally defend tiles to know theyre safe? No one should feel that safe in this game. I know I sure as hell would lose interest if i didnt have to watch the map like a hawk every time i was online.

You cant possibly think conquest is acceptable as it stands when the monks are now so secure they’ve no longer any need to play properly here, they just have the window open to listen for an attack whilst they play elsewhere. That needs sorting out.

@qazz, this aint meant as an outward declaration of war before you get worked up, and think I’m out for monk blood, that’s not the case. I think its just wrong that there is currently no way to even get you guys to be worried anymore. 30 mins of protection and you’re laughing at anything that’s thrown at you. Active players should not lose to inactive ones so consistently in a pvp game. I dont believe you’re any happier with the way things are than any of us are, where’s the strategy? the fun? the tactical thinking? where’s the adrenaline rush of risk? What, in short, brought you here? Dont you want all that back?? Or are you happy sitting in fort knox and occasionally checking in to see if theres a tile or two to retake?

*edit: Additional: It’s also a fact that, whilst monks declare they’ve no intention of taking over every tile on the map, the fact that the bastion + fort buffs would ALLOW them to do so needs to be addressed. Just in case some miracle occurs and some other guild or guilds working together manages to push them out, there’s no guarantee the new owners wouldnt try to take the whole map over. And honestly, I am not sure I’d trust every monk to keep their word on this issue to begin with. Some of them yes..others not so much.

What exactly is the status on seasons? It’s september now, has a decision been made? Is skyshard going to move forward both here on kong and, as frank asks, on facebook? Are you holding off adding conquest to facebook because you want to release seasons on both at once? There is definitely a need to reboost faith in things improving again, just a post will do, if you devs are not quite ready to put in a new update yet.

If you’re being farmed by stronger players, just farm the AI to replace what they took during your 12hr protection period, you can reclaim all your losses AND gain a lot more than you lose within this time period. As for the monks being attacked, that would require several guilds actually working together to fight them, instead of each other. Speak to your guild leaders, grow your tiles, stop in-fighting and maybe you’d have a chance for a change?

Or we can simply keep fighting each other and leave the monks alone. As for why players are leaving..well..every game has a turnover of players, cant expect everyone to stick around and become strong enough to take on the big guns at the top, can you? New players will come in to replace those who leave, it just means a longer time frame before there’s enough strong guilds to fight the monks. It WILL happen, eventually, question is, who has the patience to still be here when it does?

Or possibly make the stations into teleportals that are mobile map tiles, moving randomly around the map? Imagine one making its way all the way to the bastion tile, or even next door…?

When I posted on this thread, I was not intending to aim at any one individual, in fact if it were just the one individual there would be little reason to post, but the fact that there is a very large number of players who now use this tactic to bypass the games inbuilt restrictions on attack timers AND debuff limits is not only unfair to the players, it’s pretty much rendering all the hard work of the developers themselves into introducing these restrictions to begin with. That’s an insult to their time and effort in attempting to produce any type of balance to the game. WHY would they want to continue to work on our behalf so much if players simply “cheat” the game mechanics in order to outdo an opponent?

Since the players themselves who are guilty of this are still to this day not stopping using their alts, and will probably still not do so after theyve read this post, I ask once more that synap considers an IP restriction on player accounts. No More Alts.

cough back on topic…I would suggest that the hero you want to pick largely depends on your personal play style and which troops you prefer to use in attacks. Some units are ideal with certain hero types, whilst other heroes dont do so well with them, it’s really down to the player to pick which they prefer and then stick with it.

As is the case in many games, being an allrounder may have some advantages but being a specialist in a certain field will always get the upper hand. Good luck in choosing whichever hero is right for you.

I am more than happy to contribute to this, if we had some idea of the campaign details to work with. If synap wishes to give some hints about it, I will get to work on it. Don’t need much in the way of details, just some outline will suffice, so that I can at least ensure anything I write stays within the confines of the campaign plot.
