Currently it is easy to accidentally play a card when trying to discard it for mana. I’d suggest changing the UI to make it harder for that to happen.

Despite having two cards in the Promo set, I don’t have the Promotion Time! achievement (“Collect a card in the Promo set”).

The AI for Torture (rune word that deals 1 magic damage each turn) is horrible. It will play it and then play all its one health creatures that die the next turn before attacking. Because of this I don’t put Torture in my deck because I don’t want my rating to plummet when people attack me.

One general suggestion is that common→uncommon→rare→epic should not necessarily scale the power of the card. Instead it should scale the complexity of the card. MTG did this very well. I think it makes the game stronger to avoid the situation where the rarer version of the card is strictly better than the less rare version of the card.

Topic: General Gaming / Browser-based MMORPG with CCG elements

If you’re looking for one of these (and yes, I know it is kind of a specific niche), I finally found one I like. It’s called Estiah and as far as I can tell it is an indie game developed by a couple of ex-WoW players.

Some thoughts:

1) It is action point based, so this is a “play a little bit each day” game.
2) Very solid sense of progression: attributes, skills, levels, the whole nine yards.
3) PvP and PvE combat is decided by cards selected at random from a deck you specify. Strategy lies in picking your deck since you can’t affect things once the battle is initiated.
4) Some player interaction in the form of raids, group PvP battles, and guild battles.
5) This is a surprisingly deep game. If you have a short attention span, you have been warned.
6) It is well and truly free. They take donations, but you can’t pay money to get an advantage over other players.

Anyway, I highly recommend it, although it is a little deeper than your average flash game. If you want to go to the main website, it is estiah.com. If you are feeling generous, you can pick me (Freyajack) as your mentor and I’ll help you out in the early game – http://www.estiah.com/user/register/index/id/64857

Incidentally, if people know of other games like this, please let me know.

Topic: General Gaming / Monster's Den: Book of Dreads

I haven’t beaten the campaign yet, but one thing I’ve found that works well is all rogues (3 melee, 1 ranged). Get your quickness high, and you can open with 4xHide, which will just have the monsters passing. Then you do Create Opening with each of your melee rogues on the next turn and the monsters drop like flies. Focus your equipment upgrades on things that will increase your damage (weapons foremost) – you want to kill each monster with a single Create Opening.
