To clarify. After a team of 5 people has reached the top 3 of the cup, each team member can redeem approx. 100 euros worth of Steam games (a list of Steam keys for each individual game) after contacting the ESL support after the cup is over.

Topic: CS Portable / Update: CSP Hacking Problems Fixed For Web Version!

The order of announcements obviously has caused some concern regarding the origin of the second hacking attempt and our initial reassurance to the community that the hacking was fixed after the first attack. Sadly the ongoing investigation prohibits us from disclosing any further details, even if those details would justify our initial messaging and clear our names after being accused of lying to our community.

We’d like to once again remind everyone that CSP is a two year old game that has a far from perfect codebase and exploits used by hacking software such as GameAnarchy are impossible to fix without turning the game inside out. Based on our extensive research and calculations, such an undertaking would require a huge amount of time and resources than actually creating a better game from scratch. The recently announced new team members are therefore responsible for the development of the CSP Sequel, while ongoing support of the original CSP is slowing being reduced and will eventually disappear on a date that we will announce early 2015.

This is indeed technically the 2nd Cup that will take place, but officially the third cup on paper. The first was canceled back around July, the second happened on October 19th and the third was initially postponed because of the hacking attack at the end of October.

Topic: CS Portable / Introducing one of our Advisors Minh 'Gooseman' Le

Hello Critical Strike Portable players!

We’re happy to announce that Minh ‘Gooseman’ Le, one of the two original creators of Counter Strike, is one of our company’s main advisors!

Minh has given us a lot of valuable feedback on both the design and development of the CSP Sequel. He has also provided us with some basic graphics and animations that we are currently using for the development of the Sequel. This has helped us significantly speed up our development process.

Back in April, we had the pleasure of receiving both Minh and Ben at our office in Kajaani, Finland when they were invited to speak at the local Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. Their visit was covered by the local news paper and is also online here.

Ben later joined us as our new Creative Director in June, while Minh became an advisor for us. He is now mainly working on RUST (http://www.playrust.com) and continues to advise us on a frequent basis on the Critical Strike Portable Seque. Everyone here at the office is a big fan of Minh’s work and his support has been invaluable for us.

Make sure to check out Minh’s personal message to our community here

We’re no longer supporting the old client version of CSP since it was one of the original sources of a lot of people hacking the game. Any versions of it that are still out there will soon no longer be able to play on our servers.

@Dfeggy – We obviously have our reasons, since this game is mainly being developed for mobile (small screens).
@zeroVisibility – I disagree with your point. Dfeggy has a good point about hitmarkers and we appreciate him voicing his concern, but we also obviously have our design reasons for it.
@Pixel – Hah thanks, good eye! This video was actually filmed during an afterparty of the local Northern Game Summit where we invited the staff and the speakers from the conference to hang out at our office and place the game. We had people there from Riot Games, Wooga, Unity 3D and other game companies. Our Head of Studio Vlad was ’I’m with Stupid →’ :). And no need to flame on elfenlars, we really appreciate people being very vocal about their preferences. It means they care about CSP, our work and the sequel. We’re not discouraged at all. Negative responses only motivate us to work harder and prove any haters wrong :). There is no such thing as unconstructive criticism, especially since we’ve had over 5 people voice their concern about hitmarkers already.
@siddarth21 – You bet your Sithlord ass we are!
@skyline234 – Good eye, haha.
@india2 – Thanks :D
@Artmaster17 – Oh you ;3
@XxFayTaLxX – We got you bro.
@skylyne234 – Everyone is free to have their opinion :).

Thanks again for all of your feedback guys! We are collecting all the data and feedback we can get our hands on, so please keep telling us what you guys think!

Topic: CS Portable / Lead Game Programmer Introduction!

Hello all Critical Strike Portable fans!

My name is Ilari Lähteinen and I am the Lead Game Programmer at Critical Force Entertainment. I joined the company this June to take charge of the programming of the upcoming the CSP Sequel. Before that I worked as a game programmer at Rovio Entertainment (creator of Angry Birds, http://www.rovio.com/).

I am a passionate, hard-working game developer. I first started programming at the age of 8, and after making games as a hobby for over 10 years, studying computer science and game programming, I got a place at Rovio and learned the secrets of working in bigger game projects.

I studied Computer Science at Tampere University of Technology but since it was too theoretic for me, I switched over to study Game Programming at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (http://www.kamk.fi/en) and graduated as Bachelor of Business in 2014.

I have participated in the Global Game Jam 4 times and won an award 2 times (Most Popular Game -vote at TGJ 2012 and Jammer’s favorite game at FGJ 2013) (Both awards together with our artist Miikka.

In addition to programming, I have experience and knowledge about the concepts of nearly all fields that are required to make games. I have an artistic eye for computer graphics, and often end up writing custom shaders for games. I also know how to edit and produce sounds and music.

Currently working with the CSP sequel, I am responsible for the code architecture of the game, technical art, implementing features together with the other programmers, and making sure our game runs well and smoothly on web and mobile devices. I am determined to make it the best experience possible that all of you fans deserve. No task is too big and no obstacle too high to overcome!

If you have any questions regarding our programming, my work or anything else, you can send me a question on Twitter (@CriticalForceEt https://twitter.com/criticalforceet ) or Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/CriticalForceEntertainment)).

@elfenlars – Yeah, we’re doing hitmarkers. Can you tell us why you don’t like them?
@Gaming_Ocelote – I like your style :)

Topic: CS Portable / We Won the Pocket Gamer Big Indie Pitch with the Critical Strike Portable Sequel!

Good news Critical Strike Portable players!

We won the Pocket Gamer Big Indie Pitch in Helsinki with the Critical Strike Portable Sequel last week!

“Supreme visual presentation, responsive controls, rich gameplay, and seemingly flawless competitive online experience” were the reasons the judges were impressed and praised the game.

At the event our Producer Julius had three minutes to pitch the CSP Sequel to 4 sets of judges before receiving a minute feedback in return from each. After pitching to all the judges, they chose their top 3 games.

The Big Indie Pitch is an event organized by Pocket Gamer around the world and offers indie game studios like us the chance to get their game in front of leading journalists and key people in the industry.

This is a great start for the CSP Sequel and is a great motivation boost for the whole team here at Critical Force Entertainment!

Lastly, we’d like to congratulate FallMan and Calvino Noir who came in second and third respectively!

Topic: CS Portable / CSP Server Hack Over

Hello Critical Strike Portable players!

We’re very happy to report that the hacking attack on CSP has ended and the game is working again!

Our previous message about ending CSP’s support was a ruse to fool the hackers into thinking we had actually given up. It was meant to drive the hackers to become vocal of their success and give us time to build a case against them and track them down. During this time, the police tracked down the culprit, resulting in the hacking being turned off.

In truth, we never planned to completely abandon CSP since it is important for you, the players, and it is close to our hearts. We apologize for the confusion and sadness we might have caused you.

We now have support staff available for CSP to answer any questions and concerns you might have in regards to the game, however, we are not going to be adding new features to CSP. Instead, we are currently focusing all our efforts on the CSP Sequel of which we will be showing more in the coming days and weeks. Be sure to regularly check on our website (http://criticalstrikeportable.com/), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CriticalForceEntertainment) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/criticalforceet)!

Thank you for your continued support!

Topic: CS Portable / Ending Support of Critical Strike Portable

Hello Critical Strike Portable players!

The second successful hacking attempt has shown us that CSP has an outdated codebase and resolving these exploits that the hackers have found would require us to completely restructure the game from the bottom up. Due to this outdated codebase, we have decided that we can no longer afford to support the game and to cease any work on CSP immediately.

We regret having to make this decision but we do not have the resources to support a structurally unstable game such as CSP. Though imperfect, it has shown us how many people have enjoyed our work during the past three years and we want to thank each of you for your ongoing support.

Our entire team hopes that you understand that this decision is not driven by our unwillingness but rather our inability to resolve this issue.

We invite you to frequently check up on our website (http://criticalstrikeportable.com/) and social media channels (Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CriticalForceEntertainment Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/criticalforceet) to stay up to date on what happens next to Critical Force Entertainment.

The hacking problem has been fixed for the Android version of CSP!

Update available here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.StudioOnMars.CSPortable&hl=en

We just released an update for the Android version of CSP which fixes the issues caused by the hacking. The attack started a few weeks ago and made CSP unplayable by changing game settings for all game rooms. We have now resolved this issue for the Android and web versions!

We’re still working on a fix for the iOS version of the game and we’ll update you once we have that ready.

Once again, we’re very sorry for the trouble and frustration this caused you. We are extremely thankful for your loyalty and patience during this difficult situation.

Topic: CS Portable / 3rd ESL Kick Off Cup Postponed

Hi Critical Strike Portable players!

Due to the recent DDoS attack on our server and the hacking of the game, we are going to have to postpone the third ESL Kick Off Cup which was supposed to be this Sunday (2.11.). We’ve already fixed the problems caused by the hacking on the web version but we need to roll out the fix to Android and iOS as well, and make sure that the game is safe in the long run.

We’ll let you know the date and time of the third Kick Off Cup in the near future.

We apologize for this postponement, we know that some of you were really looking forward to competing against all the other teams. We want to make sure that the Cup can be enjoyed properly before having it. We hope you understand and we’re very grateful for your patience.
