Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Kongai] Kongai Decks

I’m currently using this
Tafari / Elusive Feather
Cornelius Constantine / Ring of Curses
Zina / Deadly Poison
Open to recommendations…I find that starting with Tafari that way is actually extremely effective in many situations because of his passive.

Topic: Serious Discussion / The Impossibility of the God of Abraham

Originally posted by FuzzyBacon:

Why do you think god considers days and years in the same way we do? There is at least one quote stating that “a million years is but a blink of the eye to almighty god” or something along those lines.

“God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day." – Genesis 1:5

It’s pretty clear that if the bible is to be trusted, the 6 days of creation was quite literally 6 days. Whether or not this says anything about god’s perception of time, I can’t say, but he bible certainly lends itself to believing that that part, at least, is not metaphor.

Reading this, I feel the need to adress something really quickly.
The Bible is meant to be taken contextually, not literally.
As such, I state that when the Bible says that the world was created in 7 Days (6 of Work, 1 of Rest) I believe that this is meant to be taken with a grain of salt, so to speak – the world was not literally created in 7 days. I find this to be one thing that seems to be rather misunderstood about the Bible – not everything is meant to be taken literally. The 10 Commandments, for instance, need to be taken literally – when they say “Thou Shalt Not Kill”, they mean Thou Shalt Not Kill. However, Jesus’ parables and many old testament stories are not ment to be taken as such, per se – they are meant to be contemplated, not taken as they are presented. Unfortuneatly, you could argue that the Bible is meant to be taken literally, but im pretty sure the Pope wrote an Encylitical (sp?) once about the context you are meant to take the Bible in.

Only one of the triplets end out alive, if I’m correct. Also, they killed off Chewbacca a while back.

That pissed me off.

Yeah, but he died in the most badass way possible.
They drop a freaking PLANET on him or something like that.

And continuing to treat SD like OT is going to change the quality of OT how?

I never said anything about treating SD like OT.

Its a no win situation in this case.

A more important question might be why should it change? If society is happy with that standard, and for the most part it is, then I don’t see the point in fighting it. If you like breasts that much, well the internet has you covered.

Topic: Serious Discussion / 'Tipping' for service - do you do it?

Originally posted by TheBSG:

It’s a complicated historical manipulation by restaurant owners and I can’t remember the whole story, but basically we should tip because most waitresses make most of their income on tips and next to nothing from their employer. Really, the system should be fixed so that it’s like any other job and they get paid decently, but that’s not how it works in the land of the free. They don’t do it in Canada.

Er, we do tip in Canada.
But it runs that you tip about 15% of the total cost of the meal if it was good service. Dunno about other countries or even provinces, but thats how my family, friends and I tip where I live.

Yeah, let’s not make slanderous generalizations regarding an entire gender group.

Its kind of ironic that everyone preaches gender equality then.

I don’t know why so many people think equality should immediately equate to the forgetting of past abuses. You can’t end stereotypes or biases (which are very much alive) if you pretend they don’t exist.

Im not saying it should, but im not saying it should condone future ones either.
Not that this really constitutes abuse, but you catch my drift.

That’s true.

But then that’s not saying much considering women have been abused and treated horribly for hundreds of years. So, you know, men are slowly getting it back that way.

Its kind of ironic that everyone preaches gender equality then.
Not that im against gender equality at all, but doesn’t reversal of roles defeat the purpose?

Topic: Serious Discussion / obama making schools longer

I quickly browsed this topic, and im just going to say something really fast before I gather up a more concise argument, I suppose.
Personally, this doesnt affect me because im Canadian, but I don’t think that increasing the time spent in a school will help much. If a student doesn’t pay attention or understand in class, its not going to change if hes in school longer.
Also, did anyone else notice the OP spelled retarded as retarted? I just found that kind of ironic.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Age of online gamers

The issue is that you can have a thousand well spoken teenagers, but then one foul-mouthed squeaky little moron is the one who gets all the attention, and people begin to assume “Well, thats what I have seen, thats what must be true!”. Fortunately, or unfortunately, that is not the case. For every 1 idiotic teenager, you will find two well spoken ones who dont with to reveal age because it gives them stereotypes and they start out on a fresh slate without so much as a shred of respect to hold on to.
Just my two cents.

ALL CAPS ARE COOL, RIGHT? Also, in this scenario, you seem to be assuming there is no cover as well as that the 20 men with revolvers are visible and without any body armor. If the men with revolvers were skilled enough, they could simply sneak to the guy with the chain gun and shoot him.

Ok, I just want to state that many if not most Catholics find the Bible as religious truth, not nesscisarily (SP?) scientific truth, and that I was pretty sure this was a well know fact.

Just, you know, throwing that one out there.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Where were you on 9/11?

I live in Canada, so its not something that affected me on a personal level that much. I think I was in grade 2, and I dont recall much about the day at all. However, when I went to my grandmothers that night, I remember my family talking in the kitchen, as I watched the news. I remember seeing another building around the towers fall, and having one of the worst feelings I can remember. I ran to the kitchen to get my family to show them, and we sat watching in silence for a little.

Topic: Technical Support / Windows Live Messenger not working

I posted here because I saw that other people posting technical problems unrelated to the site and thought I might get help with mine. Also, im not sure how to find the path to the dumpfile, the problem signature is the only thing other then checking online for a solution and closing the program that I can see, apart from a link to the privacy statement, so I don’t really know what to do in this case >.<

Topic: Technical Support / Windows Live Messenger not working

First, im not sure if this kind of topic belongs here as its not to do with the site, if so, im sorry and i’ll delete it, but im out of other ideas.

When I attempt to open Windows Live Messenger on my computer, before the screen to log on itself opens, I get a message saying that “Windows live Messenger has stopped working” and to check online for a solution or close the program. I’ve tried re-installing multiple times and checking online for a solution does nothing. Its been like this since last wednesday and to be honest im just out of ideas. I attempted a system restore as well last week and it didn’t work. If it matters any, im on Vista, and this is the problem signature. |
