Topic: Off-topic / Google Chrome While I don’t think it’s an alternative to Firefox yet, I think it is a nice, lightweight browser. It is pretty impressive for the first release. Also, I think that once Google perfects their Gears API, they’ll allow development for the browser. |

It tests for proper page rendering, mostly with HTML and CSS. |

Topic: Off-topic / Google Chrome Google Chrome passes the Acid2 Test, unlike FireFox. Also, I found another cool feature. You can expand a text box. Look at the lower right hand corner of the box when posting a post. |

It allows you to browse the web without tracking your history, so people who use the same computer can’t see what web pages you went on. |

Yeah, it’s hard to imagine that google does something wrong. I just worry that the fact that it doesn’t have years upon years of development behind it will set it back. |

Topic: Off-topic / Google Chrome Google is releasing the beta of their own web browser, Google Chrome, today. Currently, it is only for Windows XP and Vista. Some of the features look very interesting. An extensive look at the features can be found here. Click here for the download page. How do you guys think this will hold up against the other big name browsers out there? |

Topic: Serious Discussion / AX: Extraterrestrial Communications Axiom: Intelligent extraterrestrial lifeforms exist. Topic: Upon discovering the existence of intelligent, extraterrestrial lifeforms, would it be worth the time and resources to try and establish communications with them? Should the communication be friendly or hostile? Do you think establishing the communications would be safe? How do you think we could benefit or be hindered by the communication? Note: I’m trying out the new AX thread feature, and I’m not quite sure if I have it down. |

Topic: Kongregate / Will Kongregate implement badges or a challenge week for Runescape? There is no API for Java games yet. Besides, I’d assume RuneScape would have to create a seperate Kongregate server with the ability to return the variables for the API (unless they update the game and apply it to every server). |

Topic: Games / Runescape Trade Thread Dear RuneScape and Kongregate Community, This is a thread that the RuneScape Community can use to post items trades/offers. While I am no advocate of keeping RuneScape on Kongregate (see here), I believe a sole thread for posting RuneScape trade offers is necessary for the time being. I have seen threads for selling RuneScape items pop up in the Kongregate forums already, and I believe that masses of them will destroy the forums. I hope the Kongregate Community can see that this thread may prevent hundreds other trade threads from popping up, and I hope the RuneScape Community can see that they need to centralize their trade conversations to avoid spamming the forums. If this gets too much heat from either community, I will have no problem deleting it. With that, please do not fight, flame, or argue in this thread, just trade. |

Topic: Kongregate / What's Considered a Legit Game? arcaneCoder, I have noticed that you are redirecting people here whenever they complain about RuneScape not being a flash game. While that is true, and I have mentioned it, I believe my points go deeper into what I see as the problem. What was uploaded to Kongregate essentially is an advertisement. Kongregate hosts a web browser containing a link to the RuneScape website, and they get paid for every person that uses it. While I feel this methodology is fine with many forms of internet media (ex. banners, adwords), I think dressing up an advertisement by putting chat around it and calling it a game is deceitful. This isn’t any longer Kongregate sharing revenue with developers, now it’s developers sharing revenue with Kongregate, almost as if Kongregate is taking the back seat. Now, I’m not one to determine the outlook of Kongregate, that’s none of my business, it’s all up to Jim, however, I express these thoughts to promote equality amongst users. If someone can do something, why can’t another? Josh1billion could just make an internet browser integrated into flash displaying a web page with a button saying “Play Seeds Of Time!”, and link to the Seeds of Time homepage, but is this allowed? What if he paid Kongregate to allow him to? The same concept goes for the Space Station Jason Walkthrough, in a more obvious way. Those are the answers I’m looking for. Whether or not I get them is really up to the Kongregate staff, since I don’t think you (arcaneCoder) can address these issues, and am not sure if they are willing to. I really don’t want to come off as one of those people who simply say how much they hate RuneScape, and for that reason, it should be removed. I believe that I’m presenting valid, well thought out points which aren’t even comparable to 99% of the crap many users are saying in the other threads, and quite honestly, how much I do or do not like a game really doesn’t apply towards any game on this site. Also, I want to say that I don’t want to come off as an arrogant, nosy person, I just want to be an informed person. Some things are just not clear to me, and I would like them cleared up, for the better of the community. I am very willing to accept facts proving me wrong, it helps me, and possibly many other people, in the long run. Why I go on these long rants about things like this, I am not too sure. Maybe part of it is because I find it fun (in an odd sense), but I assure you that what I say is nothing short from what I believe. P.S. If I’m wrong about any of this affiliate stuff, please tell me. |

Topic: Kongregate / What's Considered a Legit Game?
I know that this has been brought up jokingly in many threads (but I’m serious), but does this mean that web developers could just put the homepage of their web-based PHP text game into a browser in flash, and upload it to Kongregate? |

I guess I’ve been mistaken all this time (although I did know shockwave was allowed)...
I didn’t see that among the other posts. That could promise an interesting future…
I established that I think Sky-splorer is legit. |
