Good games buried alive: A Kongregate story
It’s a very old post but the argument about Kongregate not featuring enough games is valid. There’s a very sparse collection of recent titles on the front page. There should be much more. Often when I visit Kongregate I feel like I need to plunge way too deep to discover something that interests me. The tower defences, physics puzzles and pay-to-win MMOs just don’t do it for me. And I feel like that’s half of Kongregate.

Haven’t posted anything here in a while.
I just released my second EP on Bandcamp, titled Meridian EP. There’s chill electronic, downtempo and stuff like that. Oh, and a drone interlude I had a lot of fun creating. The whole thing took a lot of time and effort, I think I worked on 10 songs in total before settling with this 15-minute collection. I hope you guys enjoy it.
You can listen to it and download it for free here: http://curacy.bandcamp.com/

I use Ableton. It’s very easy to learn once you understand the basic concept. The UI is very intuitive and my workflow is very smooth nowadays.

New song! By far the best thing I’ve ever done, at least in my opinion. Making it took a long time, too. It changed sooo much over the course of producing it.

Thank you. You know, I was in that exact same situation 2 -3 months ago. Then I just downloaded Ableton Live and started playing around.

It’s fun. Some are really bad, some are wonderful.

I guess it’s okay and the songs not all that great. There far better/more obscure trap songs like this. But kids can’t go beyond their pop radio stations and meme songs to actually take the time to discover good/better/different music.
We’re not talking about music here. And music is subjective, there is no “better music”. Only in your opinion.

How big are those in reality? You really should make your album art large enough. I’d recommend 1000×1000 minimum.

Writing Music?
I make my own music with a completely different mindset. I don’t think anyone can be skilled at writing music. Music is subjective, after all. No composition is better than another composition.

I don’t think anyone is going to want to be your personal mentor. Just learn the ropes yourself and dig deeper and deeper. The web is full of useful tutorials, but once you’ve taught yourself the basics, learning by doing is the key.

Track names don’t really matter on their own. They should relate to the music. Although once the someone listens to the track, the track name automatically relates to the music, just like the cover art does.
But track names shouldn’t need feedback. They are what you decide they are and that’s it. But make sure you use proper capitalization.

Finally finished my new track! I’m really, really, really happy with it. Although the name doesn’t represent my views on the track, lol.

I also made a Facebook page for Curacy. If you like my music, you’ll find a link to it from my Soundcloud and Bandcamp profiles.

Stick to that graphical style at all costs.
The problem is that the background and the spell effects don’t co-operate well with the characters.

Hey there! I’ve been releasing music under the name Curacy for a while now. I’ve released two EPs on Bandcamp which you can listen to and download for free at my Bandcamp.
http://curacy.bandcamp.com/
There’s chill electronica, downtempo, drone, ambient etc.
I’ve also got a SoundCloud page which has most of the tracks from the EP and also some various stuff.

Jojn a team, make a game, earn money, get equity
Thanks for the advice. We’re starting our first project. It’s a realistic first project.
Personally, I’ve got nothing to lose. I’m doing what I love doing regardless of the outcome.

Can’t recommend the film to anyone. The people are huge douchebags. I don’t know what it is about the indie game industry that makes people idiots.
It’s pretty easy to finish a game when the game is more important to you than your ego.

I’m a musician who produces electronic music with Ableton Live and a variety of plugins and other smaller programs. If you can gather a group of people with decent skills, I’m definitely in if my style suits whatever project you want to start. I believe you aren’t the kind of person who just wants to tell other people what to do and does nothing themselves.
Here’s my Bandcamp where you can listen to and download my first EP.
And my Soundcloud which currently contains the tracks from the EP and one remix. It’s where I put my new stuff. I’m a versatile musician, so these songs do not represent everything I can do. Feel free to ask me any questions. I’d love to take part in a project like this – right now after finishing my EP I’m in a “what now?” situation and eager to start a new project – whether it’s a new album of mine or a soundtrack for your game. I’m really enthusiastic when it comes to music and enjoy working on it.
The problem is that I haven’t done any sound effect production. I’m willing to try it. I’m just not experienced in it at all.

[Contest] Win Steam Games for FREE! (Winners inside!)
My favorite indie game is Dustforce. It’s incredibly underrated, a pile of perfection.
It’s a 2D platformer made for keyboards. So none of that SMB game pad propaganda here. The gameplay is incredibly smooth and satisfying. The graphical style is beautiful and consistent. The soundtrack is perfection. I’m starting to think it’s even better than Bastion’s, I’ve heard both dozens of times.
Everyone needs to buy this game now. It’s on Steam.

Quality discussion of relevance by the Kongregate community!
Thom Yorke would win.
