Bolt already gives 100% armor piercing.
Biggest problem would be hp amount, so, without yellow, don’t touch them if you aren’t sure.

When every second wave sends your gem to resocketing state, it is a bit frustrating, believe me.

iirc grade 24 maxes spell spark.

Totally fine with cap(my 18M level converted to 5k level, yay, loading my save takes less than 20 minutes now).
GCL got one in 1.12, didn’t stop people from playing.

Don’t know, why I’m constantly one-up you, but beacons give crappy exp if compared to shadows, apparitions and spectres. 6-8 digits difference.

Bloodbound is better. Can be amplified, scales better with grade.

Protip: Specters ignore traps.

Yellow exceeds bllodbound at grade 7. Which you get from maxed wild gem.
Higher initial damage – you can make more summons, upgrade gem to higher grade, summon even more, clear faster…
As for “a few kills” to exceed poison… it has 80% of raw damage as poison – i.e. 180% damage, and 80 of it ignores armor:

Any theories on what compasses are for? (Besides that one achievement for spinning it)

Also chasing shadows makes so much more sense once you are deep enough into the game. Nothing as fun as having to defeat one of them during an early stage of a map.

When map with compass loads(C2 – E3 – J2 – K2 – O3 – U4 – X7), there are shadowy images of different grade gems.
By spinning compasses each grade should become grade 5 gem.
Then it gives reward – unlocks at least 3 – 4 hidden fields and gives fragments with rarity 40 -70

Orange is more or less early skill, while poolbound one of the last.
Poolbound is already nerfed, bloodbound now gives me comparable boost.

Make G4 tower on the tongue between tome and orb.
Duplicate G4, put it in trap near tome(preferable orange + red components), enchant with bolt = ignore armor. Set priority to swarm. Should decimate reavers too.
Nests not worth your time.

When you get gem skill – color becomes available on every field, even without skillpoint investment.
Poolbound multiplies Specials and damage. Mix it with orange, put it into trap – orange would give tons of mana.
Amount increases with every manapool. Upgrade gem, mana increases even faster… By the end of level you look at 40+ grade gems, with corresponding “manapool exp multiplier”

Alright, someone in the comments said they have level in the 6 figures. If that is true, this game is way more exponentially absurd than labyrinth was.

Still debating if I want to get premium, cause if I do, I am not buying it a second time when it comes to kong.

Unintended – Poolbound gem became absurdly overpowered, Peter going to fix it.
Personally, I think that premium on AG better than on kong due to server side save. You can move sol.file to kong at any time.

Then, throughout the game it unlocks: 3 unique skills, 2 unique battle traits, Haunting difficulty, and 3 more areas with 6 maps each.

Seems we miss out on a whole difficulty level without having premium.

I start to look at this like on shareware game – there is enough to play and beat the game, but if you like, you can “enlarge your exPErieNCE”.
Instabuy for me, anyway.

Level 70, 81 fields explored.
Used traits… twice, I believe.
Talisman mostly with + starting mana.
First wave – 4 grade gem
Duplicate it asap.
Put trap + bolt enchantment in chokepoint, set swarm priority. Bolt enchantment ignores armor, blazing fast attack speed – kills swarm straight away, reavers up until wave 50. Prioritize upgrading trap gem over tower gem. Trick – upgrade gem, cast enchantment on it – no recuperation time.

About cores – later on you will see shadows, spoiler, spoiler and apparitions in abundance. they drop plenty of cores, I had a field with 2 spoiler, 2 apparitions, spoiler and shadow, +147 cores total.

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / Gemcraft Chasing Shadows: stuck on 30 waves levels

Trap(very fast attack speed) + Bolt spell(ignores armor in trap) + Swarm priority = easy life.
Start with tower, put trap on crossroad to your orb, use tower to finish leftovers.

How are you supposed to progress in this game? I’ve been stuck unable to do H4 in order to unlock M1 or E6 for ~3 hours now and I’ve only been playing the game for 6. I’ve been spending shadow cores and angering waves to grind up levels…from level 20 to 26 now, but I’m not getting any stronger because of skill level caps. And doing acheivements just gives me yet more nearly worthless skillpoints I can’t spend. Are we seriously supposed to grind shadow cores and random drops here?

It looks to me like this game is designed to be afk overnight macroed.

Skill points passively increase your initial mana. More mana – better gems at the start. So, don’t max everything, drop unused skill to 0.
I think you stuck because you don’t use your “Bolt” spell effectively. It gives permanent “Ignore armor” in trap and 14 very wide ranged stunning shots for gems in tower.
Get 4 towers+trap around tome chamber, upgrade equally. At last waves combine gems into two big monsters and buff them with Bolt. Trait – orblets only.

With kongregate? Lol.
AG posted on their twitter about delay, now the game is on beta-testing on their site, you can see it on GIAB profile – he earned some quests for it.
