Topic: Technical Support / Game News Disappearing from Game Page

Ok. Thanks.

The problem is the game is going to be in preview mode for a long time. It is technically in beta right now. So it’s important the users see the game news. Any ideas for getting this working for games in beta?

I appreciate the response.

Topic: Technical Support / Game News Disappearing from Game Page

Every time I update the “Game News” section on my game’s page it usually disappears after a few hours.

My game is still in preview mode. Is that what is causing this to happen?

Topic: Game Programming / Force browser to show updated .swf without clearing Cache

Wow, I feel like an idiot.

It was NOT the cache deleting my saved games!

Thanks Bob for slapping me in the face and getting me to shut up long enough to see what I was doing wrong :-)

The solution was to simply DELETE the CACHE and NOTHING else. It worked perfectly!

Thanks guys!

Topic: Game Programming / Force browser to show updated .swf without clearing Cache

I am currently testing out my game in preview mode. (on Kongregate of course :-))

When I update to a newer version I have to clear my cache in order for my browser to show the updated version.

The problem is, the saves are only local. So anytime I update the game, in order for the updated game to load I have to loose all local data.

Any ideas or hints on using Kongregate’s “upload new version”?

Topic: Kongregate APIs / Shared Content API Tutorial

Does anyone know where a good tutorial is for using the shared content API?

I have read the documentation but I am still curious about a few things. My goal is to save content to Kong servers and load from Kong servers using the shared content API.

Thanks,
-Adam

Thanks jojoblomo! That seems to be the problem. The good thing is, there are multiple ways to get it running.

Thanks again UnknownGuardian!

I refit my game with QuickKong and it works perfectly now :-)

Topic: Kongregate APIs / Display Order for High Score Options

Thanks! I am holding out hope that there is a way. If not, oh well.

Yeah this seems like something that should not be too hard to implement for Kongregate. It only makes sense to be able to choose the default leaderboard stat and even the order of the stats.

Leaderboards are just as important as the game for some people. It is a shame I don’t have much controll over that part of the experience. (although I do have local leaderboards in the .swf)

Topic: Kongregate APIs / Accessing API Through PreLoader

I did not call for the API in the Preloader. Only in the main.swf file. Once the main.swf is loaded, it should then load the API. It does not.

If I skip the preloader and only upload the main.swf as the main file it loads the API perfectly.

Should I load the API in the Preloader and in the main.swf? I am sending stats: kongregate.stats.submit(“Stat”,1) – from the main.swf because that is where the variables are changed and updated.

Thanks for the info UnkownGuardian. I will check out QuickKong but I think I am still missing something here.

Topic: Kongregate APIs / Display Order for High Score Options

I have multiple stats being recorded. I would like to set a “default” stat. Something everyone will see when they load the game. Without having to click on the “Mode:” dropdown and select the option.

I noticed it is in alphabetical order. Is this the only way?

Thanks,
Adam

Topic: Kongregate APIs / Accessing API Through PreLoader

I have a preloader.swf that loads my main.swf

If I just upload my main.swf the API works fine and I have no errors.

If I load the preloader.swf the communication to the API fails within the main.swf.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

Thanks,
Adam
