I think lots of games deserve badges, like Soul Tax, Faultline, Musiac Box, and tons of others that slipped by.
Two of those three games don’t appear to have API (Soul Tax and Faultline). The third (Musaic Box) needs improvements to its API according to rawismojo (and rawismojo is working on getting the developers to install better API.) No/bad API = no badges.
In regards to Faultline, most Nitrome games don’t have API at all. I blame Nitrome for this.

Your list of 50 greatest game endings.
Originally posted by bobby71983:ff7 is around where it should be. best ending of a final fantasy game, but there have been better.
FF7 is way too high. FFX and FF6 have significantly better endings, just in the series. Chrono Trigger is also better at endings with how it mixes up the ending with the time travel theme.
Even more disappointing are Super Mario 1 and Sonic 1 on the list. Both are fairly standard endings. I’m not opposed to old school games being on the list (Mega Man 2’s ending is extremely well done): but Super Mario 1 has the weakest ending the the three NES Mario games, and Sonic’s ending is very generic.

I HATE YOU!! it’s almost impossible doing it T_T
I’m just disappointed that gregismojo didn’t use Quixotic Exquisiteness Badge as the badge name.

Thanks, I’ll edit my post. Are you sure some of thos endings exist though? I’ve neverseen lly, ses, or ess, and I’ve shuffled through at least 100 times.
I’ve seen all three of those. None of them are particularly common, but nothing in the qx challenge is particularly common.

That in itself is a problem.
Kongregate doesn’t have to be good at everything. I wouldn’t come to Kongregate to play bridge, chess, hearts, or spades; I just do it for the other thousand or so interesting games that I find here.
And just so you know there are several very popular match three games
You need to merge match-3 play with RPG elements and a storyline just to get to a 4.00 rating. There are no popular straight match-3 games on Kongregate, ala Bejeweled. (I could be convinced that Clockwords Prelude is of that genre as well, but it’s worth noting that Clockwords World 1 flopped hard on Kongregate.)

Dear Game Developers
Typing “Chess” into the search engine gives me at least two multiplayer chess games. There isn’t a lack of chess games; there’s a lack of player interest. If I wanted to play chess online, I can think of at least three places I would go before Kongregate.
Basically, you’re trying to reinvent the wheel. Chess isn’t popular on Kongregate for the same reason match-3 games and solitaire aren’t popular: they’re too casual and people can find them elsewhere.

Best of 2011: Really??
I could make dozens of psychological examples why idle games without energy system would end up to be abominable games with bad design
That says more about idle games then it does about energy systems. The reward is the feeling of satisfaction you get for slowly building yourself up in the game; you can get the same rush by putting that energy into school work or your job, and there’s actual real world benefit for that.
Seriously, people seem to be justifying that MMO’s don’t have an interesting plot, don’t have interesting gameplay, but have some superficial veneer of graphics+music that make them decent for the start and then hope that people will be satisfied by being able to make a very slow rate of progress (or that some will overreact and throw real world money at the game to make merely slow levels of progress.)

Badge Suggestions!
Pick and Dig 3’s rating has gone up enough that I don’t feel bad requesting badges for it (and yes, I know there’s no API yet.)
A easy/medium for buying a power up (Hanging Around Badge would work for that name) and a hard for 100% completion (60 coins and 20 gems) would make sense. I can’t decide if stealing American Kirby is Hardcore from TV Tropes for that badge name is an awesome idea, a horrible idea, or both.

And I’m here, as I always am in these threads, to ask for an extended leaderboard (or really any leaderboard that doesn’t suck) since that would be of use to more people than an raised level cap.
As usual, I’ll suggest the top 1000 be put on the points leaderboard, and I’ll observe that I know there’s an issue with how the point for the current leaderboard aare determined, so 123aaa789 doesn’t have to.

Best of 2011 *Official Voting*
I’m voting for Cactus McCoy 2. I realize it’s not in the eligible list, but I’m voting for it anyways.
If that vote isn’t counted, then Frantic Frigates.

The medium badge is excessive for a game with a small range of weapons, a small number of maps, no RPG style stat growth, and no real changes after about the 10th kill.20 or 50 kills would have been a decent medium badge. 100 kills is just grindy.

Chuck the Sheep will need to get some fixes anyways before it gets badges. The 100th quest doesn’t register correctly if you’ve already beaten the game (it requires you to complete Magma Flats, which is impossible if you’ve beaten the game since it continues on forever), and the API for fastest time to completion is in descending rather than ascending order.

Is there a reason it’s taking so long? I could be wrong but from what I remember from last year it was up much quicker.
You’ve mostly remembered wrong. The voting started January 11th last year see here
(Also, I assume rawismojo is waiting for Kingdom Rush to get its API up to snuff to give it badges.)

Make Badge Level. [DON'T RAISE LEVEL CAP... yet] You can get to Level 65. !!AMAZING DISCOVERY!!~~~

Raise the level cap, level 65 users are bored.
As somebody who’s a couple months away from the level cap and who gets most of his points through badges/badge of the day/challenges, I couldn’t care less about increasing the level cap. New games keep appearing, and that’s what I’m here for, not the level cap.
Now I’d be thrilled if they increased the size of the leader board to 1000 people and let me see how I rank among other level 60 users. Alternatively, give Badge Master more room in the data base and give it a high score list of length 1000 rather than 100.

Best of 2011
Originally posted by Danaroth: Making a quest with just sequels every year would suggest that it is as an acceptable practice to keep pulling out rehashes, opposed to making a quest with the “best” games, as a reward for developers to have released a title with a great response.
I wouldn’t make a sequel quest and a nonsequel quest every year, and there’s nothing requiring Kongregate to do so. But for 2011 it seems like a good idea.

I’m just curious as to why people would be opposed to splitting the quest up into two equal sections of 5 games: sequels and non-sequels.
That would be dumb. People want two quests: one that has 10 sequels, and the other that has 10 nonsequels. There’s no reason we only need to honor 10 games.
