Can I suggest adding a line to the Picma hard badge about using Cinematic mode? I find some of the larger plus puzzles nigh-unplayable without increasing the game window enough so I can actually see the puzzle. (Squares and links don’t quite need the larger screen size, although it helps for both.)

I suggest a medium badge for completing all 24 “Tiny Wonders” levels.

Picma-Picture Enigmas badges really ought to cover all three types of games. (Picross, Squares, and Link). It’s silly to force people to spend in-game coins on just Picross puzzles. (And Greg has a dislike for badges that force a particular line of play; why should somebody be forced to spend coins on 5×5 Picross puzzles where there are 50×50 link puzzles to be played.)

Finally, there are 48 “Tiny Wonders” levels, not 24.

Inferno Legend doesn’t work on Safari at all. That’s probably not your issue, but if you are using Safari switch to another browser.

By looking at the actual data, the top 8 seem to be

Creeper World 3, Mu Complex 1, Rogue Soul 2, Decision: Medieval, Run 3, Astrox, Transmission, Sentry Knight, and Cardinal Quest 2.

Of course, there’s still plenty of time for Armor to bring Gemcraft: Chasing Shadows over.

Given that people are complaining about having outside the game content, sudo unlock badge works better as a badge name. (Neither cp nor file directories are actually used in the episode of mu-complex.)

Sure. I’m just pointing out that some experience with unix/linux makes the game significantly easier.

Also, sudo make it a medium badge.

Mu Complex completion is clearly a medium. People are over panicky about using outside help in a game where it’s quite realistically used (real-life hackers don’t have a problem going on the internet to try to figure out the answer to password hints, so why should you in a hacker simulation?)

That said, I don’t oppose Greg adding a hint to the badge text of the form “If you get stuck, try using Google.”

@Greg: if you use unix/linux, then ls is second nature to you. All of ls, cat, and sudo have wiki pages (some people will also remember sudo from xkcd.)

Where are the decent puzzle games

You don’t seem to have any badges from Transmission. Go get them, and don’t come back until you are done.

Hook seems like a good candidate for a quick medium. Something like Pulling the thread for game completion.

(Yes, it has no visible API yet. It’s by the guy who did oO, so it should be easy to get him to add API.)

Much as I like the idea of a tangerine based badge, it isn’t a good idea. First, there really isn’t much difference between getting the tangerine achievement and unlocking the minigame. Secondly, the minigame is much easier to unlock if you specifically are going for it (there are four trivial challenges in Game plays/Green Shapes Removed/Visit Author Site/Submit a Level, so the difficulty is in what you think the most difficult of the remaining challenges is.)

Badge Name:
For the medium badge, how simple Coin Mode Unlocked badge. If that’s too blah, then First you get the explosions, then you get the money badge.

But I’m allowed to have my opinion that only the best games should have them.

How would you know if Rogue Soul 2 is a best game or not? You haven’t played it.

(I will admit to not memorizing every word you’ve said, and skimming over things. But you’re spending a lot of effort arguing against Green Eggs and Ham an impossible badge on a game you haven’t played when there are badges to be earned.)

Really? And what I did that is so bad?

Yes. You seem to be attempting to stifle conversation because you don’t like certain genres. The conversation points you’ve brought up could be used to criticize a large fraction of the already existing impossible badges (you’ve criticized any 100% completion impossible and any impossible badge on an action game).

The complaint about how recent impossible badges have been mostly action games is particularly irrelevant: there’s no upper limit for the number of games that Greg can give an impossible badge to. If you want impossible badges on nonaction games, then go find and promote such games as potential impossible badges. I’d be happy to see an impossible worthy puzzle game, RPG, or tower defense game get such a badge.

Of course, the single biggest problem is that you’ve said close to nothing about Rogue Soul 2 in arguing whether it should get an impossible (no comments about gameplay except for the fairly generic criticism of action games getting impossible badges and no comments about the difficulty or repetitiveness of certain tasks.) I sort of wonder if you’ve played more than three levels of the game.

While it’s not a democracy, the purpose of this thread, as explicitly mentioned in the first post, is to allow the user base a chance to influence Greg’s decision about what sorts of badges go on newly badged games. You seem to be criticizing people for actually using the thread for its intended purpose.

Just wondering why you guys like so much of suggesting impossible badges. If greg was adding impossible badges 50% of the games they are suggested, we would probably have 200 impossible badges by now.

You say this like it’s a bad thing. There’s a class of gamers who appreciate a sufficiently difficult badge, and Kongregate hasn’t been fulfilling that itch.

If that is the impossible badge, you should name it Drunken Goggles badge. I mean, oO sort of looks like a set of drunken goggles from the point of view of someone wearing drunken goggles.

Just my way of asking what it was that you were trying to say. Most typos I can decipher but this one is beyond me.

The “so” should be a “go”. IMHO, anything less than beating Hippolyta is not badge worthy. Beating Hippolyta takes maybe an hour of clicking the buttons that Inferno Legend tells you to click.

Anything below level 20 for an Infernal Legend badge is silly. Level 20 is roughly when the game actually lets you do stuff and stops railroading you through the tutorial. I would also so with a beat Hippolyta badge as being the bare minimum allowable.

That said, I’d be very wary badging an MMO that has maybe a core group of 1000 players.

I’m pretty sure this API stat doesn’t exist (and would be a weird stat for Mitoza to report anyways, since it doesn’t really have an ending.) It certainly does not get sent on either game start or on being returned to the initial seed state.

An easy badge for completing any three endings alone would be fair, compare it to Relive your Life that has an easy badge. A medium badge for completing all endings would also be cool..

There doesn’t seem to be any API, at least at first glance. It’s unlikely (but not inconcievable) that a 3 year old game will suddenly have API added to it.

There was notably less people against badging Snail Bob (in other words, I don’t remember any) than there have been against Cupcakeria. The argument is still false.

While I haven’t been pushing the anti-Cupcakeria side as much as others, my argument has generally involved mentioned how the grinding in Papa’s games is physically painful (as in it actually hurts my wrists throguh the repetative and constant motions.) Snail Bob fairly clearly doesn’t have that problem. (To be fair, most games don’t have that problem: Balloon Invasion is probably one of the few games that is comparable to Papa’s XXXXXeria for damaging wrists.)

Granted, that’s only an argument that a Papa’s game should only be getting a single easy badge, that’s the equivalent of maybe 3-4 in game day’s worth of play.

Edit: The real reason Snail Bob doesn’t get near the complaints that Papa’s does is that Snail Bob badges tend to be earnable in about half an hour, and even an easy Papa’s badge takes like 3 hours.
