Why not make it work similar to left for dead, instead of zombies have traps and things that can isolate a player or two, maybe having shadows and stuff moving around whenever you get to a new place or even moving around behind the players. Also its not so much about the visual, get a good soundtrack to it and you will have people terrified. It was just an idea but ant the end of the day, it’s your game so making it what you want and try out as many different ideas as possible. Looking forward to seeing the finished project and good luck with it.

Thanks for your post. Yeh it’ll be lot’s of work but totally worth it in the end. Maybe about the drawing but i really don’t know where i’m going with it yet so i’m spending a little more time planning things out before i jump into code and the endless amounts of sprite sheets that i will have to make. Will keep you posted. i would do smiley face but that’s unprofessional…

Not to put a damper on things, OP, but have you made any kind of video game before, Flash-based or otherwise? You concept certainly has potential, but it also sounds pretty big. If this will be your first game, you might want to start on something much smaller. When you’re starting out, it’s better to finish a small game than to work on then discontinue a large one.

If you’re determined to see your robot concept through, I suggest that you start by getting one battle encounter to work. If you can get the basic game play in place, you can expand on it later.

Just my two cents.

This would be my first project but i could break it down into manageable chunks and i probaly will make a shorter game of it just to b sure it has the right sort of ‘feel’ to it. Thanks for your post, I really appreciate all the feedback i get. Plus hearing people say it’s a good concept makes me want to make even more.

I was thinking about having a whole range of paths, so it wasn’t just good and and bad and the errands thing would be more like go destroy the people attacking this place or accompany this person through this area and it would give rewards depending on haw good a job you did. Thank you for your input, I will keep it in mind and see what I can do about it.

Will do and thanks for the idea, i also forgot to mention that in battle, i don’t want it to be turn-based i think cooldown on attacks would work much better.

I will make this into a game if enough people think it is worth doing so. Thank you for taking the time to read this, it means a lot to me

RPG, pixel art.

Gameplay:

Use robots to defeat bad things.

Either rule the land or protect it, every so often there will be a mission that can have two endings (friend or fiend).

Depending on what path you choose, your robots will look diffrent and will have different skill sets.

Money:

You can recieve money by doing errands for people you meet on the way.

Money can be used to buy useful items at shops (e.g. repairs, xp boosters and items that you can give to your robots/drones to boost their attacks).

Battle:

Use two robots at any one time during a battle.

Robots level up independantly, each level up rewards with one skill point to be spent on that robot.

Upgrading:

After a certain amount of levels you can use gears to upgrade your robot.

When upgrading you can choose from a set of premade classes to upgrade into.

After upgrade your ship will look diffrently depending on what class you choose.

You will keep your allocated skill points after upgrade’s.

Boss Battle:

You will receive gears from boss battles that are scattered across the land.

You also recieve other items from boss battles to show that you have defeated them, these items can be used to unlock new areas

Depending on which path you chose you can unlock areas that are unique for each path.
