Topic: Serious Discussion / Palin as President

I do like the bridge to nowhere on her desk. Also, shoulda taken a screen shot, but the ad on this thread’s page was McCain Palin. It was too perfect.

EDIT: A puddle on her desk that summons Joe’s Plumbing? That makes my day.

rubber bullets are safer and could help the teacher slow the situation till proper authorities arrive

Sure. But, once police arrive they only negotiate with the shooter. They never (as I recall) storm into the school and take them out.

I doubt they will let teachers carry assault rifles to school… That is just plain crazy.

Dear God, I hope not…

That’s essentially what they were suggesting on the radio show. But still, that doesn’t solve all issues. I know that people will still be mad about even that. You have to consider that school shooters are serious. They might have armor on, who knows. If so, rubber bullets will not be effective. Also, rubber bullets can kill if at short range, say, perfect aiming distance for these crappy aiming teachers you have suggested.

Even if the rest of the students duck under the desk, there is still a chance that one of the stray shot will hit one of them.

Hey, I totally understand that possibility. But, if you were to take care of the situation quicker than letting the shooter kill themself, less deaths would occur.

How do you know that is only what they would be used for?

The topic was explained in more depth on the radio program I was listening to. I just picked the first article I could find concerning this.

The other students panicked and scramble around for the exit while the teacher pulls his/her gun. Pow! The shot missed and hit other student instead.

In actuality, school shootings are long and drawn out. Plus, most schools don’t allow the kids to leave. Like, example, my own school. We are forced to lock all doors. All students must stay in the school, in the room they started in.

I don’t see why not. If there was a school shooting, would you rather sit around in a corner and wait for them to make it to your room to kill your class and move on to the next? Or would you rather a teacher ended the situation before harm could be done?

Oh please. If the teacher has it on them at all times, why would that be a problem? There aren’t too many kids I bet that can swipe a gun without a person know. I mean, not all teachers would be armed. The ones that are, would have to be extremely responsible with the one they have, making the people who have them, that much more aware.

Edit: Dang you people type fast… Maybe not now, paladin, but with correct training, people can be safe, and efficient with firearms. And honestly, how could you mistake a kid like that? Perhaps in a hostage situation, but, even then I think any knowledgeable person would know not to shoot then.

Let me explain a bit more. These guns would only be used if there was a school shooting. Not for weapon possession, fights, etc.

Maybe, but there isn’t much pressure when things aren’t happening. So, they would easily be able to keep it on them, out of site, as just a normal daily thing.

Edit: Sheesh man, make me look stupid. XD Yes, but, perhaps they’re left at the school overnight in a lock box, secured. In the morning, regained by the teacher?
