Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Backyard Monsters] FIXED/INFERNO BUG/UPDATE

The loss of goo is not a bug, it is a fix for an exploit that had been in the game for a long time. If your hatcheries are destroyed while you have monsters queued up to be made, the goo will return to your storage. The attacking player does not receive any of the goo. However, if your goo storage is full, than you will lose any goo from those destroyed hatcheries that cannot fit into your storage.

We have resolved the issue, and the cavern is now safe to click! The bug did not do anything to your computer, but it did render your BYM game temporarily unavailable. Everyone who was affected should now be fixed.

Update 4/12/12 ~ Inferno Comes to Kongregate!

Hello Kongregate!

Backyard Monsters would like to announce these new updates that you will be seeing in the game this week!

Inferno is here! Inferno is here! A strange structure may have appeared outside of your yard’s boundaries. Your Town Hall must be Level 5 or greater to enter and fight your way through a network of subterranean yards. If you survive, you will attain your own Inferno yard and the ability to breed your own horde of Inferno monsters!

Introducing:

- 8 New Inferno Monsters (with new monster behaviors)
- 4 New Resources
- 1 New (Disgruntled) Worker

Inferno Resources 101:

Bone Cruncher – Breaks up bones so that they can be used as construction material.

Coal Extractor – Extracts Coal and reduces it to dust to be used in constructions.

Sulfur Swirler – Mixes Sulfur into a state where it can be used to aid in the discovery of new monsters.

Magma Pump – Pumps Magma from underground sources for use in creating monsters.

Resource Pods – Stores Bones, Coal, and Magma for future use.

Inferno Buildings:

Strongbox – Unlocks new monsters that can be created in the Incubator.

Infernal Academy – Where Inferno Monsters go to learn how to thicken their skins and, in general, raise more hell!

Compound – Where Inferno Monsters heal and hang out between battles.

*Incubator*– Converts Magma into flesh and blood monsters who will do your bidding.

Inferno Defenses:

Sharpshooter – Long- range tower, great for picking off monsters one by one.

Quake Tower – Creates an earthquake that does damage to all monsters in a certain area.

Blast Tower – Short-range tower with exploding shells that do splash damage.

Magma Tower – Fires bursts of molten rock that do massive damage.

Blocks – Use them to build walls to protect your Inferno yard! They can be upgraded to Brimstone, Granite and Forged Steel.

Inferno Monster Line-up:

Spurtz – Born in the depths of Inferno, this monster is a hothead who will attack anything and everything.

Zagnoid – Targets defensive towers using his keen sense of smell.

Malphius – Fast moving on multiple legs, this monster plots his attack with finesse, heading straight for harvesters and resource pods.

Valgos – Burrows through the ashy debris of Inferno and uses his massive jaws to swallow up walls with little effort.

Balthazar – A winged terror that swoops in on its unsuspecting victims in deadly attacks.

Grokus – Slow-moving, but powerful, this monster uses its tentacles to efficiently suck resources from Pods and producers.

Sabnox – This monster is fast, with the ability to spit fire from a distance making it most deadly to defensive towers.

King Wormzer – A highly evolved, uglier, meaner and more powerful Wormzer!

New Buildings Available:

Champion Chamber – Build a Champion Chamber to freeze your Champion and select another Champion to raise.

Town Hall Lvl. 9 – This upgrade unlocks new buildings, features and enables you to upgrade your other buildings to a higher level for maximized capability.

Chaos Factory – Construct and build Chaos Weapons and use them to destroy your enemies!

Chaos Lab – Research your Chaos Weapons to increase their destructive abilities.

Quake Tower – This Inferno defensive weapon is now available above ground!

Magma Tower – Fire & brimstone have spread to your above ground yard!

Also In This Update:

Fortifications – Increase your damage protection from 0% to 20% by Fortifying your buildings.

Ultra Starter Kits – Quickly set up your Outpost by purchasing a Starter Kit!

Increased MR2 Attack Range!

Auto-Bank Outposts – Spend your time building your Empire while Auto-Bank collects your Outpost resources for you.

Catch-up Optimization – In a nutshell, your game will load faster.

Upgrading the Map Room should no longer be a problem.

Is “cell for base 0 not found” the same as “base 0 not found”?
I have had base 0 not found for about 2 months or so

Sorry for not updating you guys sooner. We’ve not abandoned you, we just haven’t had much to update, unfortunately.

To address this specific question: Cell for Base 0 and Base 0 are different but similar issues, with different causes. We’ve had some success with resolving the Base 0 Not Found issue with a couple of people but it’s not a 100% solution yet so we’re still working on it.

Well, we also have records of anybody who has posted elsewhere in this forum reporting the issue, as well as anybody who has contacted Kongregate or Kixeye support directly. I can say that I’m extremely confident it did not affect thousands of players, though – based on the pattern we saw when it occurred in other versions of the game, it’s an extreme minority of the total playerbase, so we can extrapolate based on percentages to get a rough idea. From the list I’ve compiled, we’re roughly around that expected number, though I’m sure there are still some users who haven’t reported it yet.

The short answer is yes, the update we’re planning will both fix this issue as well as introduce new content. See my earlier posts in this thread for more details. :)

Hey guys,

Good news! Our backend engineer is now looking at the issue, and working on resolving it for affected players. Please note that the fix is a very slow, very manual process – it has to be done one account at a time. We’re also working on an update that will prevent the issue from happening again, as I’ve mentioned before.

I need to make sure that anybody who has been affected by this issue posts in this thread with their user ID. We NEED your user ID in order to find your account and fix it for you – please make sure to post your Kongregate ID number in this thread so we can help you.

Finally, a special note for Diadem – I get that you’re frustrated by this, believe me. I really do. I’ve played plenty of games that have had issues like this and I’ve been frustrated waiting for a fix. I’m sorry if I’ve given you the impression that we don’t care, as that certainly wasn’t my intention. I felt it would be better to tell the Kongregate community exactly what was going on (i.e. that we’re in the middle of a big project that has to be finished first) rather than just say something vague like “we’ll fix it soon!” Honesty, after all, is the best policy. :)

Hi all,

I hope everybody had a nice holiday and New Year’s. I know you all must be waiting for an update on the situation.

Let me first say that this is, unfortunately, quite awful timing for this problem to have arisen – we’re right in the middle of a major development cycle, and we’re committed to finishing it. The good news is that it should be finished soon (next week crossing fingers) and we’ll be able to look at other things. I’ve made the dev team aware of the need for a Kongregate update, and we spoke about it today, in fact.

As soon as we get this development cycle finished, I should have more news. Thank you all for your patience – we’ll work with you all to make sure this problem gets fixed and that you guys get some updates to the game.

Just to clear something up, this is actually an issue in the game itself – it’s not being caused by another player’s actions. It’s something on our end that we need to fix.

Note: Please post in this thread ONLY if you have the base 0 error. If you have the Inferno glitch, post here instead.

Hi all,

Matt from KIXEYE here. I have some information to pass on to you all. :)

Yesterday, Kongregate made us aware that some players were seeing this "Cell for base “0” not found" message after upgrading to map room 2, and those players are unable to load their base. We’ve passed this issue on to our developers, and they will be working on a solution for affected players. We do not currently have an ETA for a fix, but it has been bumped up to the top of our priorities list. We hope to have more information to share with you all soon.

The resolution will let you all log back in to your yards. You won’t have lost anything, and the yard will be just where you left it. If you have been affected by this issue, please post in this thread – that will let us make sure that all of you get fixed.

We’re very sorry for the interruption in your gameplay, and we’re working to get it fixed for you as quickly as we can.
