nobody said that. maybe you should read that post again.

He’s asking us if the people we’ve lost faith for include the people in the images. That means it’s expected that people either agree or disagree. That’s why I used “If someone were to” in that sentence. Just arguing against a possible likely view and trying to say that loss of faith should not be attributed to specific people we do not really understand, but also to much of the society around us.

Generally speaking, the unemployed/unworking, criminals, homeless beggars, etc. If you think that every little contribution from every human being counts, then well, that’s your view. Also, I didn’t mean “half the world’s population” literally. No one really does.

Well, depending on how you look at it, yeah. If we all just stopped thinking about humanity, going on doing what we normally do, that’s already a display of faith. Actually having that goal to better humanity makes it seem like there’s a lack of faith.

People who claim to be losing faith in humanity for no reason are either emotionally down or are misanthropic in some way. Also, If someone were to specifically point out that they’ve lost faith because of the people in those images, then that would be somewhat ignorant. Under what logic is stating that those people are the reason for lost faith? If it’s the fact that they contribute nothing to actual society, then look at half the world’s population today.

Bettering humanity would show that we’ve lost faith in humanity. If we had faith, we would trust that humanity can take care of itself.

This has actually been covered in short story called the Sound Machine, where an inventor discovers that plants make high-pitched noises every time they are cut.
But honestly, it wouldn’t make a difference if plants could make such noises. It would be impossible for them to communicate with other plants, as they have no brains. Even if they could feel pain, they would be unable to know the meaning of it. So the only smart thing to do would be to continue eating plants or start eating meat, because everything we eat is either plant or meat, so might as well eat something.

So long as we have a functioning brain, we have free will, if only physically. In jail for instance, one would technically not be “free”, but would still have their free will repressed inside by the pressure of living behind bars. Or one could be so overwhelmed by it that they lose all sense of freedom. Therefore the idea of true free will and how we utilize this free will vary depending on our state of mind, which may or may not be influenced by outside factors, and our physical capability.
