Final Fantasy XIII (ファイナルファンタジーXIII, Fainaru Fantajī Sātīn?) is a console role-playing game being developed by Square Enix. It is stated to be released for PlayStation 3 in Japan, and on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Europe and North America. First appearing at the 2006 E3, the game features futuristic elements and is set in a high-tech world. It is set to be released in Japan on December 17, 2009.[1] Final Fantasy XIII is the flagship title of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII collection. Contents [hide] 1 Gameplay 2 Plot 2.1 Story 2.2 Characters 2.2.1 Main characters 2.2.2 Other characters 3 Development 4 Release 5 Audio 6 References 7 External links [edit] Gameplay The concept for Final Fantasy XIII's battle system is to maintain the strategic nature of command-based battles. The system stemmed from a desire to create battles similar to those found in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.[3] Like those in Final Fantasy XII, enemies are integrated into the world environment. Yet unlike Final Fantasy XII battles do not take place in the same "dimension", but rather a short flash transports players to a new battle screen, separate from the main playing world.[4] The Active Time Battle (ATB) system will return, but it works differently from its predecessors. Users will be able to chain large numbers of commands together in order to achieve attack bonuses.[5] The Final Fantasy XIII battle system. The first battle system was shown during the E3 2006, but it was only a prototype. A new interface was shown recently by Square Enix in various Japanese magazines and trailers (depicted in the image adjacent). In battle, the player can only control one character at a time out of a party of up to three. Multiple commands can be stacked into slots per turn and released at the same time to form a combo. The number of command slots increases as the characters grow in strength.[5] These commands include series staples such as Attack, Fire, Blizzard and Cure, as well as new ones such as Launch, which sends the enemy up in the air and allows the character to perform mid-air combos on the opponent,[6][7] and spells such as Ruin, Ruinaga, and Radical Strike. The difference between XIII's battle system and the ATB gauge is that these commands can still be placed in the slots even though the bar has run out, and the actions will be executed once the required slots are filled up. This, however, affects the chain combo hits as the combo has been interrupted. The game does not make use of MP but introduces "cost points" for each command, which determine how many times the commands can be used per turn. A "break state" is one of the new features of Final Fantasy XIII battle system. The breaks refer to the times an enemy enters a state of non-retaliation. This occurs when a chain combo has been maintained for a certain period of time on an enemy. When a high level combo has been achieved, the enemy will glow red and enter this state, during which the player will be able to inflict high amounts of damage. The chain bar will gradually deplete during this period; when it becomes empty, the break state ends. Magic, including summoning, is restricted to characters that belong to the group called l'Cie (pronounced /ˌləˈsiː/). Magic is not readily available in the beginning of a game, but it is bestowed upon the characters after a certain event. Because magic cannot be used outside of battle, the HP of the party is completely restored after each battle.[5] The classic summoned creatures called Eidolons (as they were in Final Fantasy IV DS and Final Fantasy IX) will return in Final Fantasy XIII. Shiva, Carbuncle, Ifrit, Siren, and Odin appeared in shown footage.[8] Producer Yoshinori Kitase has confirmed that Bahamut will also appear in the game.[9] When summoned, the Eidolon stay in battle while the characters accompanying the summoner leaves the party.[10] There is also a new feature called "Gestalt Mode", which when activated joins the summoned and its summoner somehow; for example, the character Snow can ride and steer the combined Shiva Nix and Shiva Styria in a "Driving Mode". This changes the pace of the combat significantly. But not all summons turn into mechanical vehicles, Odin's Gestalt Mode changes him into a horse for Lightning to ride.[11] Each character will posses only one Eidolon that is summoned from a crystal that sprouts from the character's mark of l'Cie.[5] It has been recently revealed that the summons will play a major role in the game's storyline as well, much like Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X.[12] Characters will be able to use special skills other than ones gained while working with summons. The player is able to view the HP and name of the enemy before engaging it in battle. When engaging an enemy, the camera moves to another position and the battle menu appears, making the battle transitions nearly seamless.[13] The after-battle victory screen in XIII holds information such as the time it took to finish the battle, the highest number of combos executed, the number of break attacks and the quality of battle which is determined by a ranking of one to five stars. A new option in battle was revealed during Gamescom 2009 called Paradigm Shifting. Using this option, player can switch party members' roles during battle. For example, a character can be switched to use defensive or offensive tactics as the battle dictates.[14] [edit] Plot [edit] Story The plot focuses on the fal'Cie (pronounced /ˈfælsiː/), beings created from the crystals residing inside them.[5] The people marked by the fal'Cie for a greater purpose are named the l'Cie.[15] But being a l'Cie has a price; for should they die before fulfilling their Focus, they will turn into monsters called "Cie Corpses".[16] Some thirteen centuries ago, a fal'Cie constructed a paradise for humanity: The shell-like city of Cocoon floating high above the surface of the world now known as Pulse, both maintained by their own fal'Cie.[5][17] Cocoon's fal'Cie created life forms and machines for its inhabitants to use, and humanity flourished. Over time, the people of Cocoon began to fear for the safety of their world, and were worried that it would be cast down from the sky into the hell that they see Pulse to be. In present day, the wilderness of Pulse has strange effects on people, and the theocratic Cocoon Sanctum quarantines and exiles anyone who has been influenced by Pulse from the city with the help of its mighty army, PSICOM.[18] However, as Snow leads Team Nora in a vain attempt to stop the purging, the mysterious Lightning fights her way past PSICOM soldiers to find Pulse's fal'Cie with the aid of Sazh. But by a chain of events, these three along with two of the Purgees, Vanille and Hope, are chosen by the fal'Cie of Pulse against their will to become l'Cie among others, and with that become enemies of humanity that would bring about the downfall of Cocoon. [edit] Characters The full cast of Final Fantasy XIII is yet unknown. The following characters have been shown in trailers and screenshots of the game, along with other released information. [edit] Main characters Lightning (ライトニング, Raitoningu?) A former soldier of the Cocoon military, she sought the fal'Cie of Pulse only to be made l'Cie much to her dismay. Lightning has long strawberry-blonde hair and is 170 cm tall (5'7"). For her design, character designer Tetsuya Nomura was asked to create a "female version of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII". During development, he described her as "not very feminine".[19] Lightning wields a combination of a gun and a sword and can also manipulate gravity with a device on her thumb.[20] In battle, she is agile and uses acrobatic moves. She can also summon the Eidolon Odin to fight by her side in battle, who can assume a horse-like form she can ride on. Her Japanese voice actress is Maaya Sakamoto.[21] Snow Villiers (スノウ・ヴィリアース, Sunou Viriāsu?) Prior to becoming a l'Cie, Snow is the head of Team Nora, a resistance group against Cocoon.[22] After becoming a l'Cie, Snow gains the power to summon the Eidolon Shiva sisters Nix (二クス, Nikusu?) and Styria (スティリア, Sutiria?) who can combine into a motorcycle form for Snow to ride while toting a large gun.[23] He is a big character and is capable of running while carrying two people.[24] He was nicknamed "Mr. 33 cm" by the staff of Final Fantasy XIII as a nod to his shoe size.[25] In the October 2008 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, it is revealed that he uses a power that is related to the tattoo on his left forearm.[26] He uses his fists to take down opponents, focusing on brute force compared to the fast and agile Lightning. In the Japanese version of the game, he is voiced by Daisuke Ono.[21] Oerba Dia Vanille (ヲルバ・ダイア・ヴァニラ, Woruba Daia Vanira?) Vanille is a young girl with red-brown hair worn in pigtails who lives in Pulse.[15] Her weapon is a kind of foldable fishing rod with multiple lines that can be reeled.[27][28] In a trailer, she is seen captured by the Cocoon army and walking in a funeral procession. In the demo and trailers, she is the character narrating many of the events. She is first seen with the rebel leader Snow as he hands her a gun to defend those being forced to leave Cocoon, then seen with Hope, watching as the rebels lose the battle against the soldiers. As a l'Cie, she can summon the Eidolon Carbuncle which can assume a disc form. In the Japanese version, she is voiced by Yukari Fukui.[21] Sazh Katzroy (サッズ・カッツロイ, Sazzu Kattsuroi?) Sazh is a man with an afro whom Lightning knows from her time serving in the military. Sazh wields dual pistols, and his strong point is striking enemies from a distance. He has a six-year-old son called Dajh, whose mother died three years prior to the game. Sazh gets separated from his son during the game, and reuniting with his son is his main motivation. [29]He also has a pet baby chocobo that lives inside his afro. Sazh is described as having good judgment and moral discernment. He has a gentle personality and is easily moved to tears, and joins the party early in the game. His Eidolon is the fiery Ifrit, who can transform into a race car.[30] His voice actor in the Japanese version is Masashi Ebara. Hope Estheim (ホープ・エストハイム, Hōpu Esutohaimu?)[16] Hope is a young boy traveling with the party. Hope has silvery-blonde hair and is clad in orange, yellow, and green. He uses boomerangs in battle. He is seen arguing with Snow about helping the l'Cie.[28] He is also first seen in the game demo wearing similar Purge attire as Vanille, as his mother offers to aid Snow in fighting off PSICOM. She died as a result and Hope hates Snow for it in spite of him honoring his mother's final request to protect the boy. In a screenshot, he is seen with Vanille fighting off a horde of Cie Corpses. He is voiced by Yūki Kaji in the Japanese version. [edit] Other characters In the Jump Festa 2009 and the official global trailer, three more characters who are part of Snow's resistance group called NORA are seen in the hijack of the captives' train and act the role of heroes. One is a man with orange hair and dark olive skin called Gadot (ガドー, Gadō?). He uses a machine-gun in battle, providing quick assistance when it comes to executing combos. The second is a black-haired woman with a butterfly tattoo on her shoulder and a sense of invincibility named Lebreau (レブロ, Reburo?) who uses a shotgun in combat and acts as team healer. Gadot and Lebreau are said to be childhood friends of Snow.[9] The third is a young blond-haired worrisome man wearing goggles and a bright pink outfit named Maqui (マーキー, Mākī?). They were designed by Nao Ikeda, based on sports, and are inspired by NBA, beach volleyball, and snowboarding fashions, respectively.[31] The four known members of NORA are featured in the Final Fantasy XIII demo, although Maqui does not participate in battles.[7] The trailers at the DKΣ3173 event in Tokyo in 2008 and E3 2009 featured two Lieutenant Colonels of the Cocoon army that oppose Lightning and the other l'Cie: Jihl Nabaat (ジル・ナバート, Jiru Nabāto?), an intelligent but cruel woman with knee-length blond hair and glasses who interrogates the captive Vanille in the trailers, and Yaag Rosch (ヤーグ ロッシュ, Yāgu Rosshu?), an intimidating man wearing his blue hair up in a ponytail.[32] During Gamescom producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed two more characters in Final Fantasy XIII. The first one is Serah (セラ , Sera?), a teenage girl with strawberry-blonde hair. Mentioned in earlier reports by name, confused with Vanille as a result, Serah is Lighting's younger sister who was dating Snow before an incident occured with Lightning having a grudge against Snow. The other is Sazh's little son Dajh (ダッズ, Dazzu?) whose mother died while he was three.[33] [edit] Development Final Fantasy XIII was first shown at the 2006 E3 convention.[34] Along with Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the PlayStation Portable game Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Final Fantasy XIII is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII project,[35] but none is a prequel or sequel to any of the other installments. Square Enix explained that although all three games take place in the same universe, they are not directly related in terms of story.[36] The game runs on the Crystal Tools engine, a seventh generation multiplatform game engine built by Square Enix for its future games. The engine and the game were originally slated to be used with the PlayStation 2 but were later moved to the PlayStation 3.[24] Since the announcement of the Xbox 360 version, there as been worries that the PlayStation 3 version of the game was going to be somehow affected due to hardware limitations. SquareEnix denied this, explaining that the game will continue to be designed with the PlayStation 3 in mind and only later ported to [[Xbox 360|Xbox 360]. In an interview producer Yoshinori Kitase admitted that some compromises had to be made. The first being the drop of Japanese voice acting. The second is a pacing issue since the Xbox version requires 3 DVDs (instead of a single blue-ray disc.) The game areas and events had to be pace in such way to minimize disc changing, this generally forces the majority of side quest to not be available until the later part of the game, where the last disc has more space. [37] Final Fantasy XIII is made by Square Enix Production Team 1 (led by Yoshinori Kitase), meaning that the development team will look more like it did when Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 were made, rather than Final Fantasy XII. Several of the game's developers have worked on previous installments of the series. Yoshinori Kitase, director of Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII and producer of Final Fantasy X and Dissidia: Final Fantasy among others, will once again return as producer for the game. Motomu Toriyama, director of Final Fantasy X-2 and director and scenario writer of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, will direct the game and write the story. Eiji Fujii, previously the movie director of Final Fantasy XII, will return in this position. Isamu Kamikokuryō, previously the co-art director of Final Fantasy XII, will return as well, with Tetsu Tsukamoto designing the weapons. The main programmers will be Kazumi Kobayashi and Yoshiki Kashitani. Occasionally, developers from Final Fantasy Versus XIII assist with the development of Final Fantasy XIII.[38] Final Fantasy X's battle director Toshiro Tsuchida will return as the battle system director for the game. He intends on giving individual enemies their own personalities and background stories.[39] He chose not to comment when asked whether players will input commands for individual party members or control will be limited to the current party leader.[40] Final Fantasy X's co-composer Masashi Hamauzu will be scoring the game, with former regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu providing the vocal theme.[41] [edit] Release Due to the frequency of rumored release dates appearing on the Internet, Square Enix's official website issued a statement reminding consumers that any "confirmed release dates" reported by sources other than Square Enix are "erroneous and should be disregarded".[42] During Microsoft's media briefing at the 2008 E3, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIII would be released first in Japan on PlayStation 3 in 2009,[43] then released in North America and Europe on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The latter would start development only after the Japanese PlayStation 3 version is completed, and the 360 version will come on multiple discs.[44] A Japanese release of the Xbox 360 version of the game is not planned.[45] At the DKΣ3713 Private Party event in August 2008, Square Enix announced that a playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII will be included in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete (released on April 16 in Japan and June 2 for North America[46]) on Blu-ray Disc for PlayStation 3, along with new trailers of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII.[47] The demo will see a limited release, subject to the initial shipments of the Advent Children package.[48] The demo, however, is not reflective of the final product as it was created using an old build of the game.[49] The official Japanese website has recently (as of late April 2009) been updated to include mention of a broad "Winter 2009" release window for Japan.[50] However, when speaking to Japanese press, Square Enix claimed the game might not even come out in this fiscal year.[51] Speaking at a Dissidia: Final Fantasy-related press event in London, producer Yoshinori Kitase stated that the team was aiming to cut down the time it takes for localization. Suggesting a European release "before winter 2010", he mentioned that localization was underway with some translation and voicework already completed.[52] At the same time, it was denied there were any current plans for a Western release of the trial version.[53] Giant advertisements of Final Fantasy XIII appeared on the cross-street of Olympic Blvd. and Figueroa Street in the city of Los Angeles on May 23, 2009. These consisted of three huge billboards, showing the three lead characters of the game: Vanille, Snow, and Lightning, confirming the release date of the North American version of Final Fantasy XIII to be in 2010 on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[2][54] During Microsoft's E3 2009 conference, it was announced that Final Fantasy XIII was to be released "Spring 2010"[55] worldwide and for both consoles[56] (except Japan) and that a concrete date has not been determined yet. Square Enix confirmed at a Japanese press event that Final Fantasy XIII will be out on December 17, 2009 in Japan.

I am the biggest Final Fantasy Fan ever! Not to brag But, I have FFI, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII (Soon XIII), FFVII: Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Dissidia, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Origins, Final Fantasy Anthology, Final Fantasy Chronicles, and The Two Final Fantasy Movies. I am also a Kingdom Hearts fan. Although I never could get into Dragon Quest… I also found a fighting game for the PS1 called Erghiez, in which you can be Cloud, Zack, Tifa, Vincent, and Sephiroth. I also enjoyed Lost Odyssey, it was a more grown storyline with less childish characters. I don’t know if you apply to join but nevertheless I would want to.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Have You Been Told To Love Thy Neighbor? heh, that isn't common these days...

Mainly I can’t love my neighbors, first of all, I live in a apartment, so does my other neighbors who are connected to my house.

First of all, my next door neighbor and me share the same waterline, so what ever crap they stuff down their drain goe’s into both of ourterline.

Well since my neighbors have no common sense of how to properly get rid of alot of food, they took a whole pot of rice, almost looked like it, and just tried to dump it into their kitchen sink and tried to just get rid of the rice, by not using their garbage disposal all that damn rice backed up into my sink.

Well I called the the rental office of where I lived and they sent a worker of theirs to fix my sink.
This is the funny part, when ever I used my garbage disposal, water would start filling up their sink,…. when my sink was fixed , my neighbor’s wasn’t , so as you would imagine, they poured crap down their sink again and that was the final straw for me.

I kept switching my garbage disposal on and off until I heard my neighbors screaming, W! T! F!, That whole entire night I laughed my butt off while my neighbors went off all night, this incident goes to show that if you know you sink is broken don’t use it.

Second of all, my neighbors shortly after this would non-stop blare rap music all day, the song songs to, and all the song mainly had non-stop cursing to.

So…. as being a neighbor, I showed them some “Neighborly Love” by putting both my stereo’s against my wall to match theirs, and all day long I would blared classical music, which drove them insane.

It was freak’in funny. All day my neighbors would turn their TV, and their stereo all day on their maximum volume to block out the sound of my stereo. But it never worked.

Third of all, my neighbors ALWAYS are on their porch, it drives me CRAZY! So I took the pleasure of “sweeping the dirt off my porch” right at them almost every once in awhile, they would be forced to go inside.

Well Mainly that raps it up for me today.

Topic: Off-topic / KongMan 3 : the Battle for Middle Earth (by IKN , the final of the series)

KongMan has finnaly brought Gregdalf the evil Pink Wizard back to his rightful place of non-existance. But Gregdalf hasn’t died out. His power and greed still live on, and so doe’s his new born army.

The Shire 1236 A.D

Frodo was runing through the woods fearfuly as if he was being chased by Mike Tyson with a Spiked Boxing glove.

Frodo finnaly game to a halt when falling face first into the back of a moving wagon. “Frodo , is that you me homie?” said Gandalf cheerfully.

“You son of a * , I am going to report you for wreckless driving, look at my face, you just had to come see bilbo turn 128!” said Frodo angerly.
* Oh no you did not just dis me” said Gandalf clubing Frodo up side the head with his staff.
Then out of the blue they ran through a door while still in the wagon , and ended up going on Oprah.
“Today we have Gandalf and Frodo on the show who have been fighting for 10 seconds” said Oprah.
“So Gandalf, you said quote, * Oh no you did not just dis me”.
“Yes , I did say that” said Gandalf.
“And Frodo how does that make you feel?” said Oprah.
“It hurt, starts crying , It hurt and broke my heart that Tidus and Yuna died in Final Fantasy X-2” said Frodo still crying.

KongMan 3: the Battle for Middle Earth

“Bilbo do you want to go to the movies tonight for your 128th year old birthday?” said Gandalf.
“While, yes we shall go to the movies, but I call the movies cinematic adventures since I love them so much.” said Bilbo.
“Well get dressed because Iron Man the movie starts soon.” said Gandalf.

At The Movies….

Gandalf and Bilbo had just walked into the movies before Gandalf halted Bilbo and asked “Before we go into the movies, I wanted to say , I am g.. Do You Want any TREATS!” said Gandalf correcting himself.
“No, I am still full from bennegins” said Bilbo.
Gandalf and Bilbo then walked into the room where Iron Man was playing.
“You know Gandalf for a seat at the movie’s is kindalike an adventure, do you want to sit at the top, do you want to sit and the bottom or in the middle?” said Bilbo.
“Race me to the middle ha he ha!” said Gandalf pushing people out of his way. But as fate would have it when Gandalf and Bilbo sat down , and the movie was starting, Bilbo looked at Gandalf and said “I thinking I want some treats” said bilbo. “Well want do you want?” said Gandalf. “Well what do they have?” said Bilbo. “They got the same crap from 50’s , sode pop and popcorn, let’s go” said Gandalf impatiently. “Ummmm, Ummmm, Ummmm, Ithink I want some of those chocolate covered crunchies, a icee but in a bamboo cup because the plastic one’s make my hands cold, you know the nacho cheese? I just want the cheese not the nachos just the cheese, some of those chocolate pretzle’s and a small popcorn” said Bilbo. “Wow , I wish my grandmother would die right now so I could get the money she owes me in her will” said Gandalf. “Just please get it” said Bilbo. “My hopes were that when we left the theater you would be Obese.” said Gandalf walking off to the concesion stand. When Gandalf reached he bumped into a strange looking man that had white hair and had a name tag on him that read sauroman. “I am so sorry sir” said Gandalf. “Oh it is fine hunnybun I am not hurt but would you please help me and sauron out to get the ring from that hobbit with you?” said sauroman. "Uh, hang on, uh Sir! person at the concesion stand! can I get some of your chocolate cruncies, an icee, and you know the nacho cheese? just the cheese not the nachos.
Gandalf then payed for the food and went back into the room where Bilbo was and gave him his food. But then out of no where a man sat next to Gandalf, and it wasn’t that sauroman guy, it was a guy that had a superhero outfit that read KongMan.
When the movie finished, the same KongMan person went out into the parking lot and left. Gandalf and Bilbo soon followed the KongMan person in their wagon back to the Shire.
Gandalf and Bilbo then went back inside, where Bilbo pulled a ring from his pocket where he handed it to Frodo while Bilibo acted like the exersist.
“Frodo you must toss that ring back into the fires of Mount Doom where that ring was made, we veture tomarrow to questions asked, ok?” said Gandalf.

The Next Day….

Frodo and Gandalf vetured off to rivendell where they would start the fellowship of the ring which was a group of strong warriors that would lead Frodo to Mordor.

At Rivendell….

“Ok listen up *****’s, Frodo our main homie has to destroy thing bling-bling before we all get drive-byed , do we have a understanding?” said Elrond which was the head of Rivendell.
But then after this was said a group of Elves and Dwarf’s showed up riding horses. But after these people showed up the same strange man that Gandalf had saw at the movies wearing the KongMan superhero outfit showed up. Elrond then grabed a elve named Legolous that had one leg. Then Elrond Grabed a Dwarf named Gimne that was a fat and short thing. And finnaly the KongMan person was pulled in with the elve and dwarf. This shall be the Fellowship of the ring, Legolous the Handicap hero,…."said Elrond being interupted by another hobit. “Mr . Frodo can’t go without me, this team needs a intelligent person on their team.” said Samwise. “Legolous the Handicap hero, Gimne the fat short thing, this guy in a weird superhero outfit, Gandalf the wizard, and Samwise the dumshit, so this will be the fellowship of the ring” said Elrond

This was part one to be continued…..

Final Fantasy has been a total hit since 1986 , but as technology advances , so does the graphics , but is Square-Enix going overboard and ignoring the storyline and worrying about the graphics more than the most important part of each Final Fantasy game which is their storyline ?
