Personally, I think a TON of balance problems would be fixed if they allow you to create a sideboard that you can use to swap out cards in the ~10 seconds before the match starts while people are shuffling.

For people who don’t know what a sideboard is, in games like Magic: The Gathering (which has been around for 25+ years), you play with a 60 card deck with a 15 card sideboard. Essentially what the sideboard does is that it allows you to keep 15 cards on the side that aren’t used generally, but you can swap in cards from your sideboard in between games during a match to adapt to your opponent’s deck. This allows some otherwise shitty situational cards to have a use. Deck and sideboard minimum/maximum card restrictions (used to) still apply after swapping cards in with your sideboard. [This isn’t true anymore with most recent MTG rules changes, but for this game those restrictions would probably be best]

For this game, perhaps a 5~7 card sideboard would be great. This allows classes to put answers in their deck to counter otherwise ridiculously hard to answer strategies without diluting your deck with otherwise uselss cards. Ex. A mage could put 3x Purges in their sideboard. They get in a match, see they’re against a Priest. They can now swap out their 3 Fireballs or w/e for 3 Purges. Next game, they’re against a Warrior. They don’t sideboard in their Purges and just play with their deck. Etc…

Topic: Tyrant: General Tyrant Discussion / [Consortium] - feedback on the new release

I just started playing Tyrant about a few weeks ago. It was a fun game that was very amusing. I bought a good amount of warbonds since I have no qualms about supporting a game developer who makes a game I enjoy.

However, with this update, I’m a little annoyed. I understand that they want to add new content/mechanics to the game via crafting, which is pretty cool. The problem is the scale. There is literally no way to get the required amount of materials for crafting unless you are on this game 24/7, and even then that would take a ridiculously long time. It’s entirely possible to make crafting rewards unique and give players a true sense of achievement upon completion without making it next to impossible.

Not only that, but live arena is extremely unfair to new players, like me. I stopped at 4k arena rating because I wanted to play missions and grind out new/better cards and return to arena grinding later. Now, I can give that idea up. Honestly, I understand why they want a live arena. It gives more hardcore/late game players meaning and purpose to playing arena. However, it just gimps new players. Why don’t they make it so that grinding up to 5k points can be done via live or auto, but going above 5k requires live arena only. This achieves the goal of allowing a more purposeful live arena and making the two new arena rewards somewhat exclusive, while not completely raping new players.
