Topic: Off-topic / Worst dying words!

“I believe I can fly!”(jumps off cliff)
“The longer you keep me alive, the longer you postpone the inevitable”
“Peace out! homie!”
“I think I will light this candle”(dynamite blows)
“Why do you kill me so quickly?”
“This is the end of all happiness, after this there is nothing! I like nothing on my chicken.”

Topic: Serious Discussion / Proposition 8 in California, 2008

"Tolerance seems to have become a one-way street, and equality a synonym for ambiguity.

You have probably noticed. The internet is a boiling cauldron of the frustration felt by many who believe fervidly that denying homosexual couples the right to “marriage” is an attack on equality.

The frustration is misplaced, however. Proposition 8 and others like it are not about equality, but about the definition of a word– “marriage.” A church is not a mosque, red is not blue, a cat is not a dog, a lamp is not a television, a table is not a chair, a tree is not a toadstool. Those statements have nothing to do with equality; they have to do with the definition of words. To say that a homosexual relationship is not a marriage is a matter of definition, not inequality. The majority of Californians, as well as Floridians, voted that if homosexual couples want to officialize their relationship, they need to call it something other than marriage. If one would argue that the issue is one of “rights,” society has a “right” to protect the definition of the institution that for centuries has defined a heterosexual union.

If Canada started calling itself the United States, most U.S. citizens would be enraged. It’s not about equality, it’s about identity. Words mean something; they protect our language from ambiguity. Heterosexual couples have a right to guard the word marriage jealously. It defines their identity as a husband and wife, two individuals of different genders joined in marriage. Canada can call itself The Best Land on Earth, The Great Northland, Heaven on Earth, or pretty much anything it wants, but we have a right to insist that it not call itself the United States. Homosexual couples can call their relationships pretty much anything they want, but most heterosexuals feel deeply that they should not call it marriage.

Look long enough, and a judge can be found who will agree with almost anything, especially if it appears to be trendy or cutting edge and will get his or her name in the press. This being the case, and our constitution being what it is– a great and noble document sometimes twisted to ends its authors and signers never envisioned– the only recourse our democratic society has left is to vote constitutional revisions into place that will protect a definition of marriage that our founders took for granted and that the majority of us still hold dear.

There is plenty of hatred on both sides of the debate, unfortunately, but that’s a different matter. Even the moral/religious questions– certainly worthy discussions– are not the immediate issue here. This is about the attempt to broaden, and thus dilute, the long-held definition of marriage.

Homosexual advocates preach tolerance, but they are completely intolerant of the rest of society’s right to preserve the traditional and time-honored definition of marriage. In the name of tolerance, they want to impose a new definition, their own definition, on a word that for centuries has defined a heterosexual union. If a few of us decided that, in the name of equality, red is now blue, cats are now dogs, or Canada is now the United States, and we demanded that everyone else adopt our new definitions, could the rest of society be rightly accused of intolerance if they opposed it? Or would we be the intolerant ones by demanding that everyone else change their long-held definitions to accommodate us?

Thus the tag line– tolerance seems to have become a one-way street, and equality a synonym for ambiguity.

Marriage. Pick any other fruit in the garden, any other word in the dictionary, just leave this one alone."
Note that it is in quotation. I did not right it.

Topic: Serious Discussion / We are screwed

I think Obama is a smart man. I do not agree with his morale values, but I think he is a very smart man who will improve some things. I wish McCain won, but I do not think Obama is going to screw up America. What I think most republicans are having trouble with is respecting Obama. He should be respected because he is in authority over us. My class keeps making fun of him. Once they made fun of the death of his mother! I think Republicans should be carefull not to disrespect Obama like Bush was by the Democrates(and mostly everyone else :}). He is going to be the president for the next 4 years. If you are still upset about him and think he is going to screw up America than suck it up. Whining about him isn’t going to change anything, but supporting the positive things about him will make you feel more comfortable about him and help the country.

it is not about creationism It is about how the freedom of speech is being attacked by evolutionist, it shows how people are beginning to get “expelled” for simply mentioning the possibility of ID or questioning evolution

Topic: Serious Discussion / A World Without Religion?

religion has caused many wars. some people think this proves a point. It doesn’t. Hitler started world war 2 because of evolution. The idea of evolution was radicalized which resulted in thousands of innocent deaths. religion is the same way, it goes wrong when we become radical.

atheist vote for gay rights and abortion. Some athiest think that people should be steralized so that we can evolve more properly. this could lead to the killing of “unessassary” people. this has happened to many communistic nations. I am not saying that atheist are bad people. I am saying that athiest nations tend to be communistic. if the whole world was athiest then we would probably try to start a “Utopia”. This could result in war and mas killings.

If I am false in my thinking, than please explain why
