[Story Time] <-STORM> "The vets of BYM"
I would like to be added to this list.
LSA2013
FB – started around April 2010
Kong – started Nov. 11, 2011
Progress
FB: Lv47, completely maxed out main yard, Inferno about half-maxed
Kong: Lv39, maxed yard for a TH6, barely touched Inferno and MR2.

I would suggest using a yard off of FB. They’ve had our current update longer than us and probably have a better idea at building a decent base.
Even though we’ve had Town Hall level 10 for about 3 weeks now (trust me, it just makes defending stupidly overpowered), you may actually be hard pressed to find a design that revolves around a level 9 Town Hall. tmack91 did suggest the base design index, but if you want to dig around in Stomp The Yard, here’s the link: http://forums.kixeye.com/forums/8-Stomp-The-Yard
Note that we’re about to get a third Wild Monster Invasion on FB, so the area may be littered with people asking if they’re good enough. I’m not great at base design myself, so if you find me on the forums over there (I go by LSA2013 over there too), don’t ask me for a good base.

"wish list" for updates (if we get anymore)
Helpful hint: KIXEYE doesn’t even use things posted in the Wishlist section on their own forums. Do you think they’ll even consider listening to a wish on Kong when all updates are on FB first?

I know this is a question thread. SHUT UP AND LET ME FINISH. Is it safe to upgrade to it, or are hackers still ravaging the servers[question mark]
Fun fact: Kong and Facebook are going to be the only two BYM hosts because of said hackers. That’s why all the other sites are shutting down.

BYM Secrets and Hints
I didn’t have time to read all the pages, but the stuff involving Hatcheries needs updating. If you’re going to make a guide, update it…
Oh, and the reason I don’t post here much is because I can’t get the hang of the formatting stuff (for one) plus a lot of the people I know hang out at the KIXEYE forums.

31 hours of player protection left, i just got attacked.
A pokey bomb or even a few Fangs with poison will take down a Drull. But Fomor is really the only champion I encounter anymore. Your best option would be to use Fomor to defend, especially if you’re a lower level player.
As far as the DP, that’s one that I’m not sure of.

Am I the only one who HATES multiplayer games?
If you despise pay2win games, Need For Speed World is a shining example of it. I prefer single player upgrade games myself, but some games I play would completely drive me away if they weren’t multiplayer.

I’d expect such guides to be stickied or at least on page 1 or 2.

I’m not good with formatting on these forums. I figured that KIXEYE forum mods wouldn’t like it if I posted this over there and then put a link here. On Kixeye’s forums, I could put 50 blank lines and it would count them all. Here, I can’t even throw in ONE blank line.
I put 2 blank lines between each separate set but it treated it as one line. Ticked me off, and there doesn’t seem to be any advice to be in the formatting guide. I tried putting a set of dashes to separate each set (at first with no blank lines between them and then with 1 and 2 blank lines above and below), but that just made it all run into one blob.
Formatting advice and suggestions for the guide would be a lot nicer than criticism about how there’s “so many” of these.

If you don’t like the game, don’t play. They were going to update it, the question was WHEN. Now that they did, you should be pretty grateful actually. Zafs and 10m putty were nerfed in power, outposts cost no more than 10m resources now, you’re going to be able to get 6 more overworld towers and 9 new monsters, plus 3 brand new weapons as part of Inferno, fortifications were added… there’s so many changes.

I did not copy it from the Wikia. I’m using the monsters I have on my Facebook account. The wikia can actually be rather UNreliable considering that anyone can edit it. I saw nothing in the rules against the Wikia anyway…

Inferno Monsters guide
Whoops. Mine does have stats though, so people know what kind of power they could be messing with or dealing with. I’ve made it pretty far into Inferno myself on FB, all monsters are Lv4 (haven’t upgraded to UH Lv6 yet) except Sabnox and King W.

Inferno Monsters guide
The monsters in Inferno are quite powerful! They can AND SHOULD BE used to take down overworld bases. I’m providing the highest level stats I can, this is to show their potential! Sabnox and King Wormzer will NOT have their maxed out stats. In Inferno, the current max level for monsters is Level 5.
Spurtz – It’s basically a better but more expensive Pokey. Attacks anything.
Level 5 stats:
1.2 KPH
510 health
300 attack
6000 magma
15 spaces
6 seconds to make.
Zagnoid – This monster could completely replace Octo-oozes, Ichis, and Crabatrons for attacking! Likes to attack towers.
Level 5 stats:
1.8 KPH
3350 health
100 attack
16,000 magma
15 spaces
16 seconds to make
Malphus – Not sure if its a good or bad monster. It’s like a Bolt, but it CAN HOP OVER BLOCKS. Likes to attack resource buildings.
Level 5 stats:
3.2 KPH
580 health
130 attack
5500 magma
15 spaces
1m 30s to make
Valgos: It LOVES to destroy blocks! Unlike Eye-ras, it doesn’t self destruct. Wanna ruin that pathing that your enemy has? Use this guy! It burrows while traveling, doesn’t do splash damage.
Level 5 stats:
2 KPH
3600 health
700 attack
50,000 magma
30 spaces
3m 15s to produce.
Balthazar – Champions, monsters in the Compound, and monsters in bunkers should beware the Balthazar. It will go straight for them!! IT DOES FLY.
Level 5 stats:
4.5 KPH (that’s faster than a Wormzer)
5000 health
860 attack
327,000 magma
40 spaces
38 minutes to make
Grokus – Looking at its health, you can tell it’s a tank. It goes for resource buildings, but if it didn’t, oh boy it’d be the DAVE of the Inferno!
Level 5 stats:
1.5 KPH
11,300 health
500 attack
210,000 magma
50 spaces
30 minutes to make
Sabnox – The only Inferno monster with a ranged attack. Not much else to say except that it targets towers.
Level FOUR (4) stats:
2 KPH
1650 health
1075 attack
200,000 magma
80 spaces
23m 04s to make
King Wormzer – Here we have the badass of Inferno. It burrows, its’s decently quick, and it’s expensive! It’s rumored that it costs 900,000 magma at level 5! However, it attacks anything.
Level TWO (2) stats:
2.6 KPH
7600 health
1360 attack
476,000 magma
100 spaces
45 minutes to make
That’s all I’ve got. If you have any tips or questions on the monsters, just ask.

My own and KIXEYE's Inferno FAQ
http://forums.kixeye.com/threads/156563-Quick-Inferno-FAQ
Go here if you’d like some of your questions about Inferno answered. Not all are listed.
My own FAQ on Inferno (based on my FB experience). Note that it’s in order from first to last.
Q: Why can’t I go into Inferno?
A: You need a level 5 Town Hall.
Q: What’s that weird rock thing outside my yard?
A: That turns into a cavern that allows you to access Inferno.
Q: What happens when I click the cavern for the first time?
A: In order to start Inferno, you’ll need to destroy a set of bases (could be 13, could be 6 or 7) in order to obtain your very own Inferno yard!
Q: What’s with these resources that I’m collecting?
A: Those are the new Inferno resources! They’re the same as the overworld resources, but can only be spent on Inferno items. Bones = Twigs, Coal = Pebbles, Sulfur = Putty, Magma = Goo. I highly recommend destroying the entire base and not JUST the Under Hall (the Inferno equivalent of a Town Hall) to get all the resources you can.
Q: What are these new towers??
A: Many things in Inferno have an above-ground counterpart, not just resources. The coil looking thing is a Sharpshooter, which is the same as a Sniper. The thing that looks like it has a turkey baster on it is a Blast Tower, which is the same as a Cannon.
The new towers are the Magma Tower (which has chains holding it down) which fires rapidly. The Quake tower has a claw that picks up a big weight and drops it to create a small but very damaging earthquake. Low range though.
Q: HEY! The monsters can leave the housing down here! Why?
A: In Inferno, you get a building called a Compound which acts as a housing AND a bunker AND a flinger. You only get one, and it can cover a very large area. If it gets destroyed, monsters simply stop fighting, they don’t die. The dark colored things with the green circle are Incubators (hatcheries) and if they produce a monster, that monster will fight the nearest monster.
Q: On some of the lower bases, my monsters begin to lose health steadily!! Why is that happening?
A: On the lower bases, the air and/or heat starts to take a toll on your monsters. Pokeys, Bolts, Finks, Fangs, and Brains are not advised for these bases, even if supported by Fomor. DAVEs may very well be your only way to get through.
Q: YEAH! I beat all the bases!! What do I do now?
A: You should have noticed you started off with an UNDER HALL, which is like the Town Hall, but in Inferno. You also got 2 Resource Pods (same as Storage Silos), 3 harvesters, and possibly a Compound and Incubator. From here on out, you’re pretty much on your own. Discover attack strategies, build all the new sutff, etc. There are Packing Skill upgrades and Yard Expansions in Inferno, but they will require Shiny.
Q: Can I build buildings above ground that require Inferno resources?
A: Yes! The Quake and Magma towers, as well as the Chaos Lab and Chaos Factory can be built above ground! The Chaos Lab allows you to research new weapons, the Factory builds or stores the weapons. You can only build or store ONE at a time.
Q: Can I move Inferno monsters to my above-ground base?
A: Yes! You can transfer Inferno monsters up to use in attacks and even bunkers! You CANNOT move overworld monsters to Inferno however.
Tip to attackers: Balthazar is the only monster in the game that specifically attacks Champions and bunker monsters. It’s rather expensive at a higher level, but it works great!
Well that’s about all that I have to say. Inferno monsters are overall stronger and more expensive, and can be upgraded using Infernal Academies. Blocks in Inferno only have 3 levels. I’m gonna make another thread on monsters themselves. Thanks for reading this rather lengthy FAQ.

[Recruiting level 35+] Legacy of a Shadow (LoaS)
Very nice alliance! I’d love to join, but I’m Lv33 and my yard sucks. I’m trying to remember to log on every day (I’ve been inactive due to lack of updates) so I can at least feed Fomor, but with no expansions, I’m going to have a bad yard for quite a while. If you do consider adding me, tell me.
I’m level 46 and a leader of The Shadow Triangle on the Facebook version.

Convex, my new yard
It doesn’t have a Lv9 TH, no fortifications, you obviously didn’t even attempt the WMIs, you haven’t built the Inferno buildings yet, and there’s a lot of other things that aren’t up to standards of a Lv42 player…
OH WAIT KIXEYE’S TOO F***ING LAZY TO UPDATE THE KONG VERSION

KIXEYES & UPDATES
I am a higher level poster on the Kixeye forums (2800+ posts) and I go by the same name as I do here. I’ve seen plenty of “update Kong!” threads, with the mods closing them and saying that those threads are for the Facebook version only. Their only reason for no longer updating Kong is because they’re likely not making enough revenue.
Also, several of the other forumers have stated that it might be because of the age group who wants to play. They claim that it’s all a bunch of teen boys who are here. The key word is teen. “Teen” translates into “probably doesn’t have a job”, which translates to “unprofitable”. I would just start on Facebook now, and don’t even look back at Kong unless it gets updated.
There are tons of great updates that haven’t been ported over to Kong and it’s only going to get worse for the Kong only people. Updates include the Town Hall level 9, the Inferno (a whole new underground world), the third Railgun tower, fortifications, the ability to move monsters from the Inferno to the main world for use in the main yard and attacks, and next Thursday’s update is an Inferno Monster Academy apparently.

The reason Kong is behind FB.
Before you read this, try Google Chrome to play the game. It is the fastest browser I’ve played the game on. Internet Explorer is the worst choice of browser possible, some people don’t even develop for IE anymore…
If you go on the Kixeye forums, go to the Backyard Monsters Help & Support sub-forum. The stickied threads are the ones that are affecting a lot of users and also hindering gameplay greatly (Champion is gone, Upgrade stop with no refund, and more). When they find that there are no more problems, they update Kongregate. And NO, don’t say “Oh they’re slow as hell getting these bugs fixed FIX THEM NOW SO I CAN HAVE IT!!” because it’s a lot more complicated than you may expect… read this: http://forums.kixeye.com/threads/108270-Fixing-bugs-how-it-actually-works!
I’m a Facebook AND Kong player myself. Lv44 on FB, Lv30 here. So remain patient, they’re trying their hardest to fix bugs.

So now we can connect our facebook accounts to kongregate.
Kixeye developers have already said its impossible to “transfer” yards from one site to another, or to another account. Each yard is unique, and if FB users start porting their yards to Kong or vice versa, FB users get the big advantage anyways. I’m only Lv30 here, and have a ton of work to do on my yard (TH isn’t even Lv5) but I’m Lv44 on Facebook and I’m working on maxing towers right now, that’s all that’s left for me to do.

Kixeye won't help Kong players on the Kixeye Forums!

The message is still true today. I am a very long time running member of the Kixeye forums (joined May 27, 2010) and have seen several threads where Kongregate players had to ask on the Kong forums. Well this is my first thread/post, and I came here to see people then saying to go talk to Kixeye about it! I’m only posting this because of that vicious cycle that only someone on both sides could see.
If you want to find me on the Kixeye forums, I go by the same name, except the letters are in all caps.
