Also, the games that get unburied, much like the games that get featured, badges, challenges, or other forms of attention, are all not only done so according to Greg’s schedule, but to his sole discretion. Some of might not agree that Greg’s ultimate authority is necessarily in the best interest of developers or gamers on the site.

Topic: Kongregate / Introducing Underdog Week!

I’m glad Kongregate is addressing this issue. I’ve noticed that theres a real steep drop off in game views… Sort any game category by views, and you’ll see it, too. Games that are good, but not amazing get lost in the shuffle, while popular games get a majority of the hits. In many cases, the popular games aren’t really even that great (might I mention Pandemic II?), but get high ratings because theyre features, or got high ratings to begin with.
Browsing through the games list, ive found a number of pretty cool concepts that dont get more than 100 hits in a month any more because finding them is like finding a needle in the hay stack.

This buried treasure idea is cool, but I feel that there are alternative and better ways to expose the hidden gems. For example, couldn’t we get a list of 5 randomly selected games rated 2.5 to 3.5 in a list like Greg’s Picks that re-randomizes every time the user navigates to a new page or reloads? This would generate a little traffic for some of the lesser popular games and give the games a chance to raise their rating?

Anyway, these are just some of my thoughts which will ironically get buried on page 18 of this thread…

Topic: Programming / Reuploading Deletes Save file..

Hey All,

When I upload an edit to a game, I’ve found that the save file is totally erased. Any ideas on how to update a game without forcing the players to start from the beginning again?

Thanks! Garret

Topic: Technical Support / Game not working IE, but is fine in other browsers.

I just figured out the problem…

Instead of putting my Squanda.as class in the Document Class field, I wrote some code on frame 1 of the FLA that created a new instance of the Squanda.as class, and everything works fine.

Hopefully this thread will help someone as frustrated as I was.

Topic: Technical Support / Game not working IE, but is fine in other browsers.

Hey, Im having some trouble with my game. It doesn’t seem to work in IE for anyone, which excludes the possibility that it is installed incorrectly on my rig.

Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how do i go about fixing it?

Some info: I coded in Flash 9, using AS3. All of the code is in class packages, and my FLA file just has a Document Class and a Library…

The link to my game: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Garmichael/squanda

I have no idea where to even start. Is it a publishing setting? Certain AS3 commands dont work in IE?

Thanks in advance!

ps, should i post this in another forum?
