And on the behalf of the moderators and staff, please don’t take out your frustrations on the room you are currently in.

As was posted earlier, the Modfriend account is a great place to look for the online moderators. Simply whisper one of them, we usually try to come fairly quickly, if we’re not too busy.

Another option some newer users might not be aware of is that they also have the option of muting users so that they do not see what they write. This can be achieved in one of three ways:

1. From the User List window: Hover over a user’s name. You’ll see which game they are playing and underneath, in red, are two links, “Add as friend” and “Mute”
2. From the Chat window: Click on a user’s name. Again, you’ll see the same two options, “Add as friend” and “Mute” (Of course, the Add as Friend link/button won’t be there if you’ve already added them as a friend.
3. From a User’s Profile: From a User’s Profile (achieved by clicking on a user’s name, and following the “Full Profile” link, you’ll see the same options to “Add as Friend” and “Mute”

Mute not only silences the user in chat for you, but it also prevents you from seeing their shouts and whispers in your profile, should you be harassed in that way.

The staff of Kongregate is constantly looking for new mods (amongst their name other duties), but as has been said, the process is long and time consuming.

You have to email the staff to get a name change. Either at feedback@kongregate.com or support@kongregate.com. I’m not sure if email the admins directly would help, but I’d start there

It’s a known issue that happens sometimes. Kong staff is aware of it. Make sure your Flash Player is working and is the latest version. If the problems persist, use one of the feedback forms here. Use the Report Non-Game bug header. Make sure you detail as precisely what happens, include your OS and browser version (some problems have been known to happen only in certain browsers)

Back to the swearing thing, it is bad because my brother watches me play sometimes before he goes to sleep. When trolls were talking about something related pornographic topics, my 7 year old brother asked me what pornography was.

It is extraordinarily uncomfortable topic to discuss to a 7 year old and not something I want my brother to pick up this early, especially from a website like this.

Which is one of the reasons Kongregate doesn’t allow children under 13 to be registered or game without supervision.

I know it’s been mentioned by numerous other mods, but the Modfriend account shows you which Mods are online. And you can whisper to them from across rooms, freeing you from the need to look room to room for one. If you don’t know how to whisper (most new users don’t), in the chat box, type (without the quotes or brackets) “/w [username] [message]”. So If you tried to reach me, you’d type: /w Spes Hey, we need a mod in (insert name of room here).

Telling us which room the problem lies in is key, as well as a brief description of what to expect when we get there would be helpful.

As Laxaria pointed out, there’s not a lot of us online on a user:mod ratio, nor are there enough of us to cover every room.

Don’t ever hesitate to call on us, but also know that every user has tools at their disposal to spare them from the onslaught of trolls. In the user window, you can over over a person’s name, and you will see two options: Add as Friend, and Mute. If you mute a user, you’ll won’t be bothered by what they write since it will be blocked in your chat window

Trust that the staff has everyone’s best interest at heart and that new tools and new mods are arriving more and more frequently

I think, there should be a 60-second countdown on the rate buttons. After it’s gone, you can rate. This should stop macro-ers, and give a reasonable time limit, hopefully convincing people to play the game at least a little bit.

With the rating scripts out there, you can most likely edit the time between rates to a minute between rates, I think someone will find a way around it.

I still think it’s worthwhile looking into, as it does force players to actually play the game for a certain amount of time. I don’t know that I’d increase this beyond a minute. There are some bad games that I want to rate, but I wouldn’t spend a minute playing them if I didn’t have to. But for the better games, a minute would allow you to get into the game more and give you a better idea of what to rating to give the game
