Must I repeat myself? DO NOT make the combat system anything like Epic War 1 or 2. The only thing you should take from those is the storyline element from Epic War 2.

I honestly do not understand why people want the future Epic War games to be like 1 and 2. Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t bad games, but they are nothing compared to games 3, 4, and 5. The mana system of the first two games quickly made it very boring, as waiting for mana to grow was like watching wet paint dry.

Additionally, there was a lot less control over the units in epic wars 1 and 2. No units could be called back, and this ultimately made the game less fun to play as you were forced to wait even longer for the mana to recharge. People also talk about the arrow tower as if it made the entire game…It certainly did not. Arrows in the later levels were not as effective, and the arrow tower, along with all other units in the first two games, required so much experience grinding that all fun was just sapped right out of the game.

However, I really enjoyed the storyline aspect of epic war 2, and the ideas for the bosses were fantastic. Future games should contain more levels with more unique titan units. For fun (and also because the majority of players would enjoy it) you should add one or two titan units that are excessively powerful, but unlockable only if a player has truly played through the game.

So in conclusion: Captivating and unique storyline + more units (including the “super” titan units) + get rid of repetitive grinding and “mana system” of first two epic wars + more player control over the units = a game that can truly be called epic.
