If you’re so upset about me being Vanguarde and Zamininc, feel free to address the situation with an administrator. I would shout this to you, but you have muted me and still target me here.
If you’re trolling, you have not invoked any emotional response, but you have wasted 2 minutes of my life typing two paragraphs.
Well done, son.

AZN, I’m not openly accusing you of anything. All I did was bring up up the alt problem in SD and OT. Did I hit the nail a little to close to the head? I know that AZN is one of your primary alts and that Vangourd, Zam, and a slew of your other alts monopolize these forums and make it impossible for any free exchange of ideas…

But I have never “constantly harrassed” any of your alts. However if I did confront each of your alts once… well that sure would seem like constant harrassment to you now wouldn’t it.

Topic: General Gaming / Haiti: The Cost of Life

“Ayiti: The Cost of Life” is a flash game sponsered by unicef. In it you control the fate of an impoverished family in the third world. So far, I can’t manage to send a child to school without some other member of the family working themselves to death, thus teaching me a valuable lesson about life… or video games.

The game can be found here: http://jayisgames.com/archives/2006/11/cost_of_life.php

You ever seen the matrix? everyone’s life is a lie they are all programed to believe what they see is real. well what if that is true? what if our life is merely a dream it could bring about some truth to the heaven and hell stuff. if our life in truly a dream but heaven or hell is our real life. it would also give reason to the whole feeling of being watched. as if our life may be we are in a coma perhaps and when we feel we are being watched is actually a nurse or someone checking on us. weird as it seems what if?

I think dreaming isn’t all that mysterious. It’s the body’s way of rebooting the brain, sorting through mental static, and even solving problems. I don’t think we are someone elses dream or that our dreams become reality. I do think that dreaming is part of the process of understanding reality, even in the things that we do not conciously notice.

Not that dreams are always “prophetic” or even pertinent. Sometimes they can be silly, or even false confirmations of our irrational thoughts and fears!

Topic: Serious Discussion / The Isolated Human

@ bombcog. He’s just using examples to say that kids are plugged in and tuned out. A lot of them really are.
…A lot lot of adults too. I am one. I’m not as socially successful as I’de like to be. I’m self aware enough to attribute this to years spent in front of the television and taking the easy way out of most high pressure social situations.

We relate more to the characters on television than other real people. Those T.V. people do not exist in real life. We read and rely to posts and chats, pat ourselves on the back and think we’ve we’ve interacted with real people, but we haven’t. Were all wannabe authors, poets, polititions, and trolls. Interacting with real people to face to face is nothing like chatting online. The people on television are nothing but entertaining lies.

This argument of Off-Topic and Serious Discussion not applying to games can also be applied to the Art forum. Most of them are spriteworks, signatures, and the occasional literature splurge. We also have the Collabs, both the feature and the forum. Therefore, I find this argument really silly when you think about it.

My suggestion that hot topic sub-groups would ease word pollution and promote site growth, or 123’s arguement that communities within the community are a good thing? I agree with both! I’m not surprised by people being territorial, but I’m appalled by the use of alts by one user to monopolize an entire forum and personally attack newcomers.

Topic: Serious Discussion / The Isolated Human

Prior to the electric age, most people spent their professional and domestic lives interacting with family, friends, and associates. Now with television and the internet, countless masses are desperately trying to squeeze their natural inbred capacity for human interation out vicarious technological experiences.

Does technology meet a need or does it drive us further away from the very things that make us human? Are we the most isolated generation of humans to ever walk the planet?

Nothing. My sleep schedule is dictated to me by my work hours and social life. What little free time I have to myself is spent online or in front of the tube with the phone off.

To think that suddenly you have to wait decades for that knowledge is ludicrous in the extreme.

Pornography is about making money. It’s not a public service. They hook the curious user with some skin, feed them ever increasing distortions of sex, and after years of use the user lacks the ability to have healthy sexual relationships and are willing to pay 5.99 a minute to fantasize about something unnatural or illegal.

Before the advent of television and the internet most people would go their whole lives without ever hearing about the kind of sexual perversion that has become common knowledge in this day and age.

People deserve more than the shallow social impressions of television and the crude porn of the internet. People deserve to have lasting intimate connections with other people. People need love!

…I didn’t say anything about masterbation.

I’m not in the military, but I am a man. It’s difficult enough to be in close proximity to women and maintain professionalism in a civilian workplace and thats only 8 hours a day. How much more difficult would it be to not develop unprofessional relationships with women that you are eating, living, and working with 24 hours a day? It’s no wonder that they keep them seperate.

So in other words, your fully admitting to being weak. A true man can hold back his sexual urges.

Do I have a weak spot for women? Most men do :-)

It’s only natural for men and women to be attracted to and be distracted by each other other under those conditions.

Topic: Kongregate / Enough with the stupid artsy games

As “artsy” games gain popularity, there are bound to be a slew of wanna-be rip offs looking to get in on the trend. I agree that some of these games are pretentious. Some of them are just platformers with a thinly veiled phsycological or emotional “theme”.

However, many of these games and “webtoys” really are the product of a lot of groundbreaking creativity. They are made by people who are not only producing games that they themselves would want to play or play with, but are using the medium provoke thoughts and feelings, challenge ideas, and give players something that they can either relate to or personally negate. The sound design in a lot of these games is thoughtful and rich, the gameplay unique, and the experience memorable.

To those of you who are familiar with my distaste for certain games and have responded with persuasive arguements such as “NOOB If U DONT LIK IT DONT PLAY IT”, all I have to say is “TAKE YOUR OWN GODDAM ADVICE”. If you don’t like casual flash games with mature themes then don’t play them.

To those you who appreciate casual gaming, I highly recommend www.jayisgames.com which has a longstanding relationship with Kongregate.

Happy Gaming ;-)

Topic: Kongregate / Off Topic and Serious Discussion

If there were religion forum, a philosophy forum, an atheism forum, a politics forum etc. under the umbrella forum of Serious Discussion, it might allow for community growth. Many threads are simply shot down or flagged for being repeat threads. A lot of trolling takes place by spamming hot button issues and flaming other users that try to bring up the same subjects. If hot button issues had their own forums then Kongregate would be beating the trolls to the punch.

You start with Jews, Gays and Romas but eventually you are putting down people will simple genetic proclivity for bone cancer and heart disease. We might as well just strap rockets on the Earth and shoot the whole planet into the sun.

You start with genetic disease; not nationality, social politics, or religion. :-P

The problem is that teenagers are not “learning” about sex. They are being force fed a media driven commercial distortion of sex. You kids don’t know a damn thing about sex! Turn off your computers and go kiss a real girl for crying out loud >:-(
