[Cursed Treasure: Don't Touch My Gems!] Which tower is your favorite: Den, Crypt, or Temple
hmmm.. since so many people are also discussin tower strenghts ill address both..
my favorite tower is the Burning Tower (temple, max AOE branch).. the animation for it and the SFX is amazing..
as for Skill Paths
perhaps the easiest path to take.. They provide several important skills.. and most can be obtained very early.. most notably is the Cut Out skills.. decreasing mana cost to only 50 and providing 100 gold (almost 1 basic tower).. High Ground: providing a significant damage boost to any tower on highground.. and of course increasing starting gold.. Later on there is Bounty Hunter providing a monster kill gold bonus.. The green path works great with Blue.. Blue increases alot of mana (regen, max mana, starting mana) and combined with Cut out can net you alot of gold.. plus the % boost in fire rate works well with Crypts (slow fire rate) which is probably what you will be using early game… End game however, the green path does not offer many valuable bonuses since most are gained right at the beginning..
Blue path i think offers the best synergy between paths.. simply because of the mana bonuses the give.. Both meteor and Cut out rely on mana.. increased mana pool allows for Meteor rushes for those ninja bosses.. plus, the extra charge for crypts is mandatory for their burst damage and DPS
.. you will most likely be using Crypts in early game (plus crypts are also the best tower ability wise end game).. Finally, Blue path provides the most useful abilities in the game overall. Freeze is definitely the best skill (out of Poison and Blaze).. Mana extraction give you ridiculous mana regen allowing to use your skills alot more.. As for mana extraction vs Bounty Hnter, i would go with mana.. its is more versatile: use with cutout for money, meteor for emergencies, ninjas or bosses, and frenzy a great panic mode button. plus at the level you can afford mana extraction/bounty hunter you have easy access to the cost-reducing skills making gold not that big of a deal. for Frenzy vs Meteor, i find frenzy to be superior.. first, Higher fire rate results in more abilities activating like Fear, Crit etc.. second, it applies to all towers resulting in better DPS
than meteor. and finally, it is a way to train tower faster.. Towers gain exp per bullet that it shoots. it still gains exp even if it misses.. so increasing the fire rate also indirectly boost exp gain as well as saving your life.. finally, the range boost is needed for both temples and dens making blue much more useful..
Red: i think this is the hardest path to take.. Firstly, the skill they provide are mostly useless.. Return portal is not really worth it (it may save your life a few times tho), the Blaze skill like poison isnt that great and does minimal damage.. All-seeing eye (boost radiate) isnt great since the Evil-Eye/Beholder towers are rather useless as well.. also the bonus damage only applies to 1 monster and the Targeting isnt that great. The bets skills are Training, Adoration, and Meteor.. Training helps get those higher level towers faster and reduces, somewhat, for the need of tower specific training/cost-reducing skills. Adoration has great synergy with cutout.. since you can place one temple, then cut for more gold, then place more temples.. Meteors moreover, have the exclusive job of ninja killing. Another reason why Red path isnt that great is because of the weak temples until endgame where you get the Burning AOE temple. the %damage works best with dens.. making they’re crits and regular hits much stronger.. coupled with the already high Fire Rate of Dens..
Conclusion: all the early abilities of each path are very important and should be maxed as soon as possible.. However, afterwards, i recommend putting points into Blue first, then Green, then Red.. but really, at this point you should just put points into what you need.. everyone has different strategies..
For the beginning i would recommend: Blue until you get that extra charge for crypts >> starting gold >> height advantage or Training >> then start upgrading skills (i would start with meteor >> cutout >> frenzy for early ninja killing) but really at this point, you can start mixing..
Orc: Orc towers at low levels are only slightly better than temples. but are not that usefull overall.. they only have crit, splash, and poison.. i find that poison does not do much damage, and the burning tower is superior to the cataputl/ballista so splash isnt great. the only good skill orc towers have is the Critical Hits.. Combined with their fire rate, orc towers have perhaps the highest DPS at high levels.. I build mostly sniper dens b/c of the high DPS..
Crypt: i find crypts to be the best in terms of overall dmg and usefullness per cost.. The reason is b/c of the wide range of abilities they have.. key abilities are Fear, Freeze, and Remove Enemy ability, along with some decent abilities such as mana drain. In terms of damage, Fearful crypts are superior and maxed out Mind Control results in a 75
fear rate.. not bad for a skill that can make enemies run back about half the map and into powerful towers placed at the beginning (namely the burning towers).. The best ability is a mix between Freeze and Remove Enemy Ability.. But since freeze also applies to the mana drain crypts they are more useful.. As a guide, at low levels, play more fear crypts and at higher levels try to play more manadrain crypts.. Reason is fear crypts damage are not that great at high levels, and with the new skills such as Freeze/Remove Ability the mana drain is better.. also the Chain damage max skill for Fear is not that great.. 1-3 fear towers is enough at high levels since its mostly for the Fear.. i only run about 2 fear end-game since that will cover pretty much the whole map and 70% fear pretty much activates all the time.. The rest of the crypts i turn into mana drain crypts.. one note is that crypts are terrible ninja killers
temples are much harder to play.. they take much longer to level than the other 2 and their damage and range are subpar when unupgraded. they only gain usefullness when they begin branching and when they reach max level.. Ive found the Burning (AOE
) temples superior to the Evil eye path.. They have the best consistent single hit AOE
in the game making the great Ninja killers, 1-hitting even high level ones.. plus the AOE
will hit ninjas even if they’re stealthed (you just need another target in range).. the cost is building up toward the Burning temple since teh starter temple sucks.. The max level skill Daze is a very good bonus.. since it slows every enemy it hits. i found body bomb to be lacking in damage and range. and the damage boost from radiate to be minimal.. However, Burning towers are very situational.. they work best in the beginning(for 1hitting ninjas) and crowded areas and narrow paths where lots of enemies pass through and of course where there are alot of area to target.. putting a Burning temple on a highground near such areas are very good.. boosting their 1-hit kill AOE
.. but be warned that temples are mosty useless from level 1-3..
At low levels, damage wise Crypts > Den > Temple.. At high levels, damage wise Den ~ Temple > Crypt. the reason i mix Den/Temple is b/c if placed in a better spot, Burning (AOE
) temples can out perform Dens. .In terms of ability usefulness, Crypts > Temples > Dens..
*note the best example of 1hitting burning towers is on the last map battle city.. place burning towers on all the highgrounds near the top and almost all the ninjas will be taken care of (except boss ninjas)..
as for my strategy:
*Burning tower near teh beginning – they get first hit on all mobs, 1-hitting ninjas, and slowing everything. and in areas where enemies gather..
*i tend to put Crypts on high ground b/c i need them to target pretty much all of the map since Crypts have the best ablilites.. they need to be able to freeze/fear/remove ability all enemies.. also they’re high base range works best with the % range boost from high ground giving them the best area coverage..
*my main DPS
is the sniper dens.. high crit rate and fast fire rate…
*as for teh catapult/ballista VS Burning in areas other than the beginning it depends.. is it easier for the Catapult to hit?? is there alot of open ground for the Burning?? Would i be better of building sniper dens?? is this area kinda for away from action and requires more range?? i use these questions to determine if i should place a burning or catapult..
*finally, i almost never use EvilEye/Beholder… except for fun
i hope i illustrated the strenghts and weaknesses of each path/tower appropriately, comment if you disagree.. also, if you find a better use for Evil Eye/Beholder towers then definitely comment.. ived tried a long time and i cant seem to incorporate those towers at all.. hence my low rating for them.. ive maxed everything and it feels that the radiate ability doesnt do much.. except for maybe bosses
