Aim for the board. It doesn’t have working and damageable crew or sails.

I’ve actually beaten it on first try using normal cannons. Shot it up with two ships, then boarded with last.

I’d be REALLY worried if God started playing Fallout :D

Hm. RTW requires just a little strategy and some knowledge of game in battle, and a bit more in campaign map. But it’s a good game, especially with some mods.

Topic: General Gaming / The Elder Scrolls series:

I don’t have Skyrim yet (if ever), but played all other…Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion with all expansions and official plug-ins. And Morrowind is simply best. Graphics are not a big issue for me, and Morrowind had best combat and leveling system from whole series, and wasn’t as repetive as Oblivion where I spent half of the time training one or two skills because I couldn’t use trainer and had to have the stat bonuses set before going exploring and gaining level again.

Half Life 1 with expansions is definitely worth playing even now. One of best FPS ever.

Yea, chryssalids were scary. You think you’ve secured the perimeter, end turn, then this thing walks from god knows how far, survives three reaction hits from laser rifle, and turns your best soldier into zombie. It got better when you got flying suits so you could avoid them, but then Ethereals with their psy powers became something similar…

And bone fetishes…ow. Especially on Nightmare or Hell, after long, annoying trek through jungle maze, fighting living versions of there with their shamans, you finally find Flayer Dungeon with quest item, enter, and just hear the bone clicking…and hope you’ll survive when they explode into hundreds of tiny shards.

But for me, most scariest ever, was playing Alone in the Dark for the first time…searching the room, still looking around new to the game, when werewolf jumps through window and attacks you.

Western desert in both F1 and F2, you never knew what will you meet.

EW5 was a disappointment because of one thing. It was short. Overall premise was good, but I’d like to see more campaigns, like British, German, Soviet, maybe even Japan and US Pacific one. Also, ability to get out of vehicle and go kill enemies on foot would be cool.

RPGs, sims, strategies.

Currently most favorite: Fallout games, Total War series, TES, Baldur’s Gate (actually modded to unify both games and expansions into one game), CnC series, Homeworld series….

Not even SH veteran can get it right on the first try, cause when playing for the first time you have no idea about ever building you’ll need, best production ratios and priorities, and of course, the fact that you can move buildings around means you never have to compromise placement to make room for future buildings. There’s absolutely no real protection from high level players, new players are being bullied to submit to rule of nearby house or be wiped out, or they’re simply destroyed without having chance to defend yourself just because some idiot who had lots of money to spend thinks its fun (this happening to me was main reason to leave).

Played it, didn’t like it.

The game system got too many hidden pay2win perks (like changing village layout…honestly, you either gotta read up tons of guides to get it right on first try, or pay to be able to do it right after you learn how, also ability to change layout at will can boost your production by huge margin),some mechanisms ultimately constricting the game to few “right” ways to do things, and you’re often too much at mercy of more powerful (=longer playing, not more skilled) players.

If you want it and can buy it, go for it. What’s keeping you from doing it?

@Alita: Try F1 and F2. Graphics are poor for today, even poor for like 2005, but it’s fun. I still prefer the older RPGs…BG1+2, Morrowind, etc…

Topic: General Gaming / stronghold Kingdoms: BAD!

Played it, didnt like it. Too much Pay2Win, game system inbalanced in a way that there is “one good way” to build your village and little space for creativity. Most of the time you’re a pawn of higher levels.

Asteroid graphic in game window and in target window sometimes dont match. Mining proved that the one in target window is right, so far this bug encountered only in Thebes.

Glock series are chambered for 9mm, .40 SW, .45 ACP and more, M9 is 9mm. I’d personally take either M1911 for good balance of stopping power and reliability, or FN Five-seveN…low stopping power, but great penetration, accuracy ammo capacity and low recoil. After all, best way to take out zombie is headshot.

And yea, DE is impractical.

I haven’t got it yet, gonna wait some time for patches and price to drop before getting it…and also wait for new laptop :D

When I want some RPG…well, I got Gothic 2 with addon, and Baldur’s Gate series…that is enough.

Well…

In one of last areas you’ll meet a few survivors led by Jack, who appears to be the “hero” of LS1+2. So it is set right after LS2.

This is how I did it, and it was a breeze, even on survivor.

Starting with: STR 4, PRE 1, all other stats 10. Blades, smarts, security, searching tagged. When leveling, first go for STR 10, then rest in PRE, for skills…go for 50 smarts, 50 searching and 50 security before even beginning the first quest and going into houses other than first one. Then level up blades a bit, then max out automatics. You can go for blunt instead of blades, it makes beginning easier but they’re not as effective later.

At the beginning, use the wood board you find in first house to bash up zombies. At level 2, start farming achievements for exp. Some interesting achievements-death from above (kill zombie when jumping), crippler (20 kills by shooting their legs). of course pistolero, juggernaut, the one with stealth kills, headshots, crit headshots….after farming up all you can, start doing quests…just go door to door, clean up every house, and don’t forget to read every note you come across for achievement…from here the whole game is quite straightforward. Just save some stuff for a quest in second area, it is I think 3 bags of nails, broken pipe, broken board, welding rods, metal sheet and that weakest pistol…most of it is easy to get, but broken board and broken pipe are only on one or two places in whole game.

As for companions, the girl is worse…just let her die somewhere. The guy won’t join you until you finish the quest, just talk to him to get the key, get the items but don’t go back until you let her die.
There are two pawnshops in game. Don’t buy weapons, save all money on ammo.
The only place where you might farm stuff except for start is military base, you can get best stuff there.
At one point, there is a bug with world map showing quest area marker at wrong place, it is I think when you go to stadium.
Edit: when using melee against legless or dogs, don’t forget to crouch so you can easily hit them.

Best weapons (as far as I found):
Blunt: Sledgehammer-heavy
Blades: Katana-sharpened
Pistols: Death Adder .45 scoped (there might be a military version that would be better, but never seen it…no biggie)
Long rifles: M24 military (M82 looks great, but you will get a little ammo with a lot of farming in military base…and it ain’t that good), THOR (again, there might be military issue somewhere, never seen it tho)
Automatics: M249 military
Special weapons: RPG, chainsaw. Never seen a modified version of any special weapon other than damaged.

Well, then it isn’t religion, but philosophy, at least the way I understand it. Religion differs by introducing the concept of “followers”, that promises rewards for believing and accepting associated culture.
