Please do away with ridiculously hard boss battles as a prerequisite for unlocking more islands. I’m a level 47 (non-paying) wizard with the best staff available in the game at this point, and would certainly do well in Mondomesa. But I can’t get there because I seem to be unable to beat the kraken unless I respec as a monk, as all the hints and walkthroughs recommend. So how am I supposed to still enjoy this game when I’m forced to grind the same levels over and over again, with no hope of ever advancing? Exploring all those places is what makes this game fun and worth playing; everything else is just tedious repetition on the long run.
I suggest making the accessibility of new places in the game dependent on your level, not on beating specific previous stages (or, better still, both: either beat a boss if you can, or reach a certain level).
Or, at least, give us an option to spend a few rubies on skipping one of those mandatory fights!
Also, there are way too few islands on the whole for a game that you’re supposed to keep playing. There weren’t even any holiday specials (such as Valentine’s Day and Easter) since last Christmas!
