Something good from a former Idol contestant? That’s surprising.

There’s no denying that Ne-Yo has got a great voice. This song is pleasant to listen to, but the lyrics are only slightly above par, and it becomes very repetitive.

That’s the point of a euphemism.

The point of a euphemism is to confuse people? I don’t think you fully understand what a euphemism is.

I wish I could rate it more objectively, but my absolute despise for music such as that song makes me unable to.

Topic: Serious Discussion / The world and our perception

Question is though did your desire come from you? When you achieve lower than average grades at school does that dim your desire?

Everybody knows what they enjoy as well as what they are proficient in. By combining these two factors, I think all people are able to set a reasonable goal for themselves.

Why? We do not live in a society that rewards those who are not, so people have less incentive to be otherwise.

I don’t have a problem with people being wealthy in general; I simply hate it when that wealth is used to purchase petty luxuries. Nobody needs a multimillion-dollar house, nor do they need multiple luxury vehicles, etc. Most people who have an overabundance of money spend it all on things trivial items, and that’s what is saddening to me. I’m aware that a lot of people do donate some money; I’m sure not many truly do it out of the goodness of their hearts, but rather for their own benefit and image.

1. Intelligence to a certain degree is inherited, does this restrict the less fortunate individuals from achieving the same as the fortunate individuals or do you believe it is purely environmentally driven?

Achievement and success both depend on an individual’s desire. One who meets their goal of becoming a garbage collector is just as successful as someone who meets their goal of becoming an astrophysicist. No matter what goal one may have, if they meet it, they have the same amount of achievement as anybody else who had done so, regardless of intelligence.

2. Is jealousy a healthy emotion?

If it leads to self-improvement, yes. If no change is made due to this jealousy, no.

3. Are you as unique as you think you are?

There’s always going to be someone else in the world who thinks in much of the same way you do.

4. Do you think money controls the majority of emotions in your society?

Unfortunately, yes. People seem to think that obtaining more money for themselves is the key to happiness. There are far too many self-centered people in our society, and that, to me, is saddening.

5. What is your overall aim in life?

To make a positive difference in the lives of many others.

6. Does knowing that you are eventually going to die influence your decisions and thoughts on life?

Not at all.

3. Have your character who agrees with you in every way defeat this evil empire
4. In the end, the empire is dead and everyone now agrees with you!!

1984 and Brave New World break these common patterns.

Topic: Off-topic / Where do you think you fall on this chart?

A perfect balance of freedom and discipline is the best way to live. Think of one’s individual guidelines as a father figure in this situation. On one end, we have the lax and lenient father, and on the other extreme we have a totalitarian father. Each of these extremes represents an equally imperfect parent. As one moves more towards the center of this scale, the more optimal they become. The ideal father is strict, yet fair; he is tough, but gentle as well.

It took me a while to mark my spot on the x-axis. I am quite an altruistic person, so I considered placing my mark on the extreme left, but after thinking about it, I realized that I am not for forcing others to be humanitarian if it is against their own moral guidelines.

The lyrics were a bit cheesy at points, but I suppose that’s what works with this sort of music. Other than that, it was pretty enjoyable for the entirety of the song.

Simply a gimmick. The only instrumentals that weren’t pre-recorded were the few identical solos. The lyrics were completely awful, and the dancing was gratuitous.

the idea of having a blank slate to create the perfect person is totally exciting.

Way to make your potential children sound like test subjects.

A child really isn’t as much of a blank slate as you think. The majority of your child’s character traits will be similar to that of you or your partner.

Great track. The combination of the gritty instrumentals and the muffled, angst-ridden lyrics as well as the harmonic bits thrown in there really grabbed my attention throughout the entire song. Thanks for introducing me to some great music to start listening to.

The beat was pretty weak, and while the lyrics weren’t bad, they weren’t great either.
