Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Redshift] Synapse: You will Take Notice

If you want to examine the implosion of Redshit based on Bartleian collapse, it should be noted that the pure Explorer population exerts little or no influence the other population except in massive quantities.

What ACTUALLY happened was that the Achievement gameplay was basically completely hollow. This resulted in the failure to attract many Achiever-type players, and these were all quickly driven off by the Killers. The game’s remaining population was thus primarily built on Killers and Explorers. Explorers, being a self-perpetuating population, proceeded to propagate to large numbers. Killers, however, do not like Explorers, as Explorers make poor prey. By lobbying for external intervention, they got a large number of them banned under spurilous and blatantly false claims. This left basically nobody else in the game. The Killers got bored and left, resulting in the Type 4 equilibrium: Dead Game.

Synapticoin has probably recognized at this point that Redshit is likely beyond saving and has abandoned it.

Be serious. Boosting didn’t kill the game. f no one boosted, there would have been no one for the level 25s to actually kill. Boosting is irrelevant: As a means of getting cash, it pays peanuts. Boosting is chump change. The systematic genocide of everyone who knew how to play the game followed by a completely hollow endgame and total official unresponsiveness killed the game. When you wipe out more than half the active, high-level players in the game in some imagined witch hunt, your game loses the critical mass of players needed to provide an actual food chain, and your ecology has thus collapsed.

Topic: Kongregate / New Kongregate Version: Return of friends and fans

It really should be more “stalkers” than “fans”. A very large number of people that end up in your “fans” list are not, in fact, fans of you, but actually deranged stalkers.

I’d take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

Yes, it is almost as if the entire “Piercing” skill tree should, you know, do “piercing” instead of just “more damage”.

I suspect it works that way purely because of how the devs write things, and it is nontrivial to port the beta to Kong, as Kong has a pile of bureaucracy involved, too.

Yes, but at the same time, let’s be realistic: You guys have Special Status. It’s blatant favoritism. Whossname up there is nobody and the devs aren’t going to do anything for him.

Honestly, I really doubt it. You’re better off just splitting off to form your own fleet. It’s not as if fleets have any particular assets that would be lost by reforming.

So, I have a question. Given that this thing appears to be sinking like a lead balloon, and produces no net profit for you…what is it worth to you unload the entire crapload on someone who has a chance of keeping it afloat independently? The possibility of getting paid for making this someone else’s problem should be worth something, yes? I’ve always wanted to get into development.

Heh, called it. You know this could probably have been prevented if you had accepted my offer instead of ignoring me. :P

Heck, it’s not too late to say yes. We can rebuild it. We have the technolergy.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Redshift] The answers to damage and shields

Not quite: What level YOU are doesn’t actually matter. Armor penetration is purely attacker-level, so armor is worthless even if both of you are level 50, as it will be reduced to 1/64th of its effective value compared to level 20. Even the additional new +5 levels really hurts armor’s effectiveness, as armor is now worth half as much as used to be, and when they add EVEN MORE unnecessary levels, armor’s effectiveness will fall to a quarter of what it is now. Exponential curves are really mean.

You need to lie more convincingly. They want only the truthiest of answers, not to hear what a freak you are. Your answers don’t have enough truthiness.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Redshift] The answers to damage and shields

Basically, since the shield divisor doubles every 5 levels, unless an item +5 levels up gives TWICE as much shields as its previous counterpart, the value of shield/armor is going to drop through the roof. When they add yet MORE levels, even if nothing changes, you’re going to need shield values in the millions just to stay afloat. The power creep on this is going to be ridiculous unless they notice this problem.

And yes, this applies to NPCs. Proteus, at level 50, laughs at your shields, as your shield values are reduced to 1/64th (2^6) of what they would ordinarily be. It gets exponentially worse the more levels they add, until you need billions of shield points just to keep up.

So, it seems that combat information is no longer important enough to notify us about in the new update, so now you just never hear about being attacked until something kills you.

That’s because the item isn’t actually “lost”, it’s really more “jammed”.

I would just blame a random person you already don’t like very much and then swear revenge upon on them and hunt them mercilessly when you actually have a ship. Odds are they’re guilty anyway.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Redshift] who's your most wanted player?

I hate to break it to you, but Sparrows, Scythes, and Dragoons are all garbage, and killing them is not a measure of any kind of prowess: Rather, people who own those tend to mark themselves as BAD wallet warriors.

Yeah, the bargain bundle is kind of shit. I imagine the Dragoon wasn’t meant to suck, but everything else in that package was.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Redshift] Deception Overpowered

I’m not really even sure what the motivation for that is, since it’s not like it’s priced higher than the Dragoon is. Maybe it’s a typo…the 6 is right next to the 5, and 500 WOULD be the right number…but at this point if you were to take it away, there would be massed screams unless you offered them a refund on it.

Alone? Probably not. They can still track you with LOXen, although at least you’ll be able to track them. They’ll horribly outgun you due to a combination of OPollos being way better than anything else and the fact that they have perma-buffs. In wolfpacks of 20-30, on the other hand? Probably.
