Gah, entirely forgot about the Crafting, Quest and Trade slots. Thats another 41m for a 488 total if they are counted as shop investments.

Topic: Shop Heroes / Is net worth being calculated correctly?

Sooo, I don’t get it. You don’t really explain how the new calculation works and im kinda trying to figure out how the new numbers come about but its not adding up for me. Did a quick and dirty calculation on my shop and this is the result:

old networth 575
new networth 362

city investment 201
shop expansion (48 slots) 81
Worker slots (6) 51
Workstations (10xLvl11+1xLvl12) 92
counter (11) 2
racks (estimate) 8
storage (estimate) 3
cash 7
decorations 2.5
items (equipped or not)

sum 447.5

Sorry for the shitty copy-paste job, but it gets the point across, I hope. This is where my shop is at the time of writing. Old networth is seen from my character/city screens and new networth is the intercity/world rankings number given. Cost of shop upgrades is from spreadsheet. Numbers are rounded up and racks and storage are approximations but those are more or less the actual numbers. Not even bothering to count the smaller decorations/earlier upgrades or owned/equipped items (not a complete no-lifer, yet :D).

I’m sure i’m missing something very simple and obvious or making a stupid mistake somewhere but its been bugging me that I can’t figure out how the new number is derived. Can’t find a more detailed explanation here or in the forums, so i’ll appreciate someone letting me know how the new formula works and exactly what is taken out of the old number to come up with the new one. (shop expansion seems the only number to kinda make sense but would be really weird if that is not counted)

Thanks.

Something that I would find useful and would be very easy to implement is inventory filters by quality. Just like the filters we now have by item type (e.g. guns, shields etc) it would be nice to have similar filters about quality. With one click you are shown all epic items you have in inventory. Or all greats and so on.

It could be done by adding a button/filter for each quality – for example, green star for all good items, blue star for all great ones etc.
Or even simpler – by adding a single button that denotes quality, alongside with the “quantity” and “chest” buttons/filters in inventory. Would work exactly the same as the “quantity” button but instead of listing all owned items by highest number first will list them by highest quality (i.e. if you have 3 epics atm (a bow, a hat and a gun for example) it will list them first, then will be all the greats that you have and so on)

It would especially help in the market interface with those of us who regularly use the market to dispose of higher quality crafts :)

oh, one more thing to think of it. Daily quest is kinda slow and pointless as is. I know its “daily” but you can change that to get random quests every few hour of gameplay or increase the map fragments you receive or something like that. A weekend of semi-acive play makes the whole concept quite worthless for serious players ( static rewards offered fast become worthless) and is a “meh” feature for casual players who it in no way motivates for regular or more active gameplay.

Promise im done now, starting to bore myself even.

Hey, thanks to the developers for a surprisingly interesting and engaging game (I was in the process of installing Civilization V when i started this and ended up deleting CivV since this was a new experience i liked and didn’t have time for 2 timesinks) Very nicely done folks, kudos. I had tried to get into Swords and potions before but for some reason never quite got hooked but this has been great.

To more constructive things – the main reasons I wanted to post were to suggest:
1) redoing the auction/trade house system to something more usable – i see you are already working on it. Not sure whats doable given your code but the simplest and most straightforward solution to me would be to have some further separation e.g. being able to see not only item type but also having the offered items subgrouped first by rarity and then by price. This way an user can fast and easily compare prices and availability of items across tears and make a better and more informed decision.

2) Inter city trading and/or questing that is tied to city contribution scores. Can be done a number of ways. Easiest would be an intercity warehouse (i.e. guild warehouse as done in most mmo games) where players can dump extra or requested items. This can be on ffa basis or there may be some automatic rewards, like the player contributing geting the base cost of the item in either game money or city contribution) Another approach would be something similar to the idea you had with the trade house – a system of offers and requests where a player can either make available a particular item for the use of his/her townmates or alternatively request the type of item they are interested (e.g. gauntlets between the levels of 8 and 10, item quality good or better). On the request side having to request a specific item is somewhat restrictive given practical restrictions and might be a problem I feel. The rewards for players sharing items could be the money value of the item given to them or invested “in their name” in the city or keeping up with the quest theme there could be some prearranged rewards in rare resources or something like that. My preferred reward method would be the player sharing the items to receive the corresponding value in city contribution that activates/prolongs building boosts. Seems the most logical approach and is pretty much exactly what you have now with the difference that you are able to help out a fellow town member a bit.

3) Changing the way repair (spending real money in the game) works. The current approach is certainly broken for the player (no sane person would use a very limited resource/real money to repair a virtual item that can break randomly on the next battle and will either way be outleveled in a few hours/days) and unless people are even dumber than i tend to think they are is also broken for the developer (I hope your target players tend to fall within the above-mentioned “sane” category, as specified in the previous point) This type of sim game is MADE for a simple, straighforward and effective way to implement microtransactions – novelty items like player skins and shop items (which you are doing) and short term boosts to productivity/cash received/whatever. These allow for the paying customer to get a nice boost/differentiation without poisoning the game for those who will not pay money on a game (be it Shop heroes or Halo). And any developer worth the air they breathe know they need both groups for a healthy game byw.

Anyway, those were my 2 cents of “wisdom”. Hope it was helpful. Either way, thanks for the game and all best to you and yours :D

btw forgot to mention but I like reading the story in the game. Having a story line is a nice bonus that most idle games (hell, most flash games) don’t bother with. Hope you continue it with the other gods. A note on that – for some reason the text on some story windows can’t be scrolled all the way down, they cut off mid-text, something to look into. Cheers!

Hey, nice game, ty for making the effort. Just started a couple of days ago and there is only 1 thing that kinda annoys me at the moment – the crafting system is somewhat limited. It would be useful to add the option of a crafting queue and choosing the number of items to be crafted. Right now i can make it directly craft e.g. fishes and it automatically crafts all the prerequisites which is great but there is no control on how much it crafts. It would be nice if I can queue several crafting orders and let it go on crafting – e.g. craft 500 fish, when complete craft 800 tree, when complete craft xxx something else, you get the idea. Anyway, that was my 2 cents :)

wonderful update, despite all the childish bitching. in fact – you probably could and should have cut them even more. My siya gives me +3000% dps after the nerf and that is absurd. the pace of soul collecting in the game is ridiculously high as it is as you can easily go from 0 to about a 100k souls in a week. the update doesn’t impact negatively new players in any significant way (to even start feeling any change in siya output you will need over 100 levels in him which is in no way a new player), nor does it somehow nerf the builds of old players (if you have over 100 levels in siya you should have at least half a dozen other ancient buffing your dps and gold to insane levels siya or no siya) so I really don’t see who are those heartbroken players who scream as if they have been shot.
btw as mentioned by good players before in the topic – active play with frag and bhaal is both better and more fun even as is. Combo with them and good skill rotation is so powerful i never needed to upgrade them above lvl 30 as i easily instakill anything and the combo effectiveness is limited by monster spawn time and not dps. don’t need to go overboard improving that particular element of active play in my opinion.
either way, nice game, thanks for the effort and good luck :)

what he said. I can live with the shit sever that dc every 30 sec but that “Are you human” bullshit has to be the single most annoyingly incomprehensible thing any developer has ever done. boting is always a problem with this type of games (gameplay is mindless repetition for the most part anyway) but only a bot would actually put up with this “anti-bot” measure that you’ve implemented.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Chronicles of Blood] Suggestions & Bug reports & Changes

hey, i have a little request/suggestion. I’m doing r6 right now, the infernal planes, and the items are a bit of a letdown. The set we have from the region is the pretty worthless holy damage “The Truth” set that is really crap both together and separatelly. And it also looks very pensioner-y, nothing to really get your blood pumping if you ask me. At the same time there are 2 great fire based items – hellfire sword and phoenix robe that are pretty much the only fire based items in the game (there are a few more weapons here and there but really nothing else). We got a cool demon mask in the recent event but again its a standalone and that limits its usefullness. It would make more sence to have those fire items grouped together in a set, making them more useful and desirable to players rather than keeping them separate. I would suggest something like this:

Infernal warrior set

Headpiece: Demon Mask (new item from the recent event, “Demon”, “Infernal” – it fits the theme beautifully :D)
Weapon: Hellfire sword (one of the cooler looking swords, that is just gathering dust and not being used since its not part of a set and there is very limited opportunity for a fire synergy right now)
Armor: Phoenix robe (cool looking fire based item. Might rename it to fit the “From Hell” theme)
Coffin: Blistering coffin (kinda worthless both in function and looks, adding it to a set might make people actually use it)

Those by themselves make a pretty neat set and would require exactly 10mins. of work from the developer since they already exist and would require basically no change, just adding the set bonuses, as was done for the gravecaller set recently.

Maybe add one piece of new equipment – hand armor, since there is NO hand armor in the game even remotelly associated with a fire build. Could be a later addition to the above set.

Furthermore, if the dev team wants to go wild you can add to this the cinderash belt which is now wasted on a coraline sapphires item that no one would ever buy.

This makes a lot of sence to me in terms of gameplay (there is absolutelly nothing for fire right now and these items are already here and need just minor adjustments if even that). It would improve the usability of a number of items, it would add another build for people to try, it would increase variey in the game. It even makes financial sence for the dev as I can guarantee that A LOT more people would be willing to give the fire donator items a try if they actually go with something and are not just another useles bunch of items for real money.

Buuuuut, even without that, just the simple 4 item set I outlined first would still be a nice addition to the gameworld that requires basically zero investment of effort or time by the dev team. Thats a net gain for the game however you choose to look at it :D

Ty for reading my rambles, hope this helps make a nice game a little bit better ;)

the “Descent into madness” set has 6 pieces but set bonus for only 4. show some more love, give it at least a 5th piece bonus like any other large set. Maybe the Insanity belt was a later addition so no bonus was added for it? Either way, its a interesting and difficult to get set, give it a little extra so its a bit useful as well as fun and cool.

Hey, first of all – wonderful game, I’ve been playing for a couple of weeks now and really enjoy CoB.

Recently started doing some Coven bosses and I feel there are a few small changes you can make that would help improve the experience:

1. People shouldn’t be able to kick you from a boss fight if you have done more than 75% damage. Hasn’t happened to me but it would be very unpleasant. For a low level like myself doing 75% damage takes 1 or even 2 days of effort and to be kicked out for no good reason would be very frustrating.

2. There should be a way to exit the fight/surrender as with normal bosses. Sometimes you engage a boss by mistake, sometimes the boss turns out to be too difficult… if you don’t want to continue or can’t properly contribute to the fight you should be able to exit and free up a space for someone who wants that boss and not be entirely dependent on the summoner being active or proactive.

3. The Livefeed allows you to share your summoned bosses with guild members but there is no such functionality for bosses you are fighting but others have summoned. The chat helps a lot, but it would be nice to have an intra-guild alternative. E.g. i know that some of my guildmates probably need Verdant shapeshifter bosses for the talent point, but we are very rarely active in the chat at the same time. I could try posting in their personal walls but I really dont know who needs the boss and who doesn’t. The guild chat can be used but then it gets cluttered with links and other players may be annoyed. It would be nice to have one section in the Livefeed dedicated to guild summoned bosses, as is, and another section giving access to non-guild summoned bosses that guild members are active in.

Hope this helps you make an entertaining game even better. All best.
