Apparently the other website I found had a bad apk. The apk file from Adobe Archive works, I’m not happily enjoy the Kong Arcade on my S3. Thanks Thyrael.

I had the Unknown Sources box checked. After installing both, however, whenever I click on “Play” I just get a blank screen with a little cube in the middle, with nothing indicating that the game is actually loading.

I really want to be able to get the Kong Arcade to work on my S3. I’ve found a place to download the Flash 11 apk, but do I need to be rooted for it to work? I tried installing it, and then Kong Arcade, to no avail.

Edit: M joined tick ~800, I joined tick ~900.

So once you had storage increased, what did you do? Obviously, the strategy of building one-unit squads to grab stuff at the beginning (as suggested by some guides) wouldn’t work. Had you scouted out a place on the map with few active players to colonize so you could grab their stuff? Was it just a question of being more active so you could hit someone at 2am local time so they wake up and find their stuff gone?

I don’t expect that there was some silver bullet. I just want a general plan. For example, it seems to me that you obviously shouldn’t waste your time rebelling, but there may be similarly obvious things not to do that I’m missing.

I’ve read a ton of BD strategy guides out there on Kong and elsewhere. All the ones I have read assume the same thing: that you join a world near the beginning of a new era.

What I have not seen so far is a guide for what to do when the world is already populated and there aren’t free mines sitting around waiting to be snatched up to feed your resources.

So let’s assume you join at around tick 400 and are conquered immediately when your protection drops. What do you do?

If the answer is “it’s not worth playing if you don’t start at the beginning of an era” then who wants to wait around waiting for a suitable (i.e., not everyone has time to play 6 ticks/hr.) era to begin?

Incorrect is earth still split into countrys? I’ll assume it is. Then there will be more blood shed because the first country that gets to colonize a planet will certainly not be the only one that wants to. And I am sure that haveing a planet would be a massive advantage to who ever had it. :P Surely someone wouldn’t like that and would try to take it over.

Exactly. The implied premise behind kirdaiht’s statement is that colonization = control, which is not necessarily the case. If the descendants of the current inhabitants of Europe reach and colonize the northern hemisphere of the nearest habitable planet outside our solar system, saying “we got here first” alone is not going to stop the descendants of the current inhabitants of China from landing in the southern hemisphere.

It’s worse than that. Given third party candidates, Candidate A can be elected with fewer than 50% of the popular vote, so someone can be in office when a majority of people voted against him. This excludes, of course, those elections in which there is a run-off between two candidates when no one gets a majority of the vote.

I didn’t believe it was useful to quote his entire post. I just happened to snip the HTML tags in the wrong place and was missing a < / b > tag.

But I get it. You think I’m a prick and decided to call me out on a formatting error instead of addressing the substance of my argument. Well played, sir.

I never said it was true hence the word SPECULATION

You must have taken your disingenuous pill this morning. Despite using the word “speculation,” by writing “Exactly, recorded deaths. There’s a lot of speculation that Mexico isn’t giving the real death count,” the inference that you clearly wanted to convey is that the second sentence refuted, or at least undermined, the WHO statement of only 7 deaths. The structure of your post, plus the use of the word “real” belies your claim now that you really didn’t think it was true.

Meh- I changed the thread title so that I’m using the scientific name as the main name.

I don’t think it makes a big difference, though.

No, this is good, because I keep forgetting which thread is which when I go away from the page for an hour or so.

I’m sorry, pork industry, but H1N1 influenza just isn’t catchy enough for the masses.

But if you ask me (yea, I know you didn’t), if you’re going to prance around getting people to say things correctly, I’d rather get people to stop using “I” as part of adverbial phrases…..“The monkey in the zoo threw poo at my sister and me.”

Exactly, recorded deaths. There’s a lot of speculation that Mexico isn’t giving the real death count. It’s also officially 8 because of the baby that died in the US.

Yes, people are quite fond of speculation. The cool thing about speculating about unfalsifiable claims is that you can always respond to skepticism with a response that is itself immune from scrutiny. Observe:

Crackpot: “I’m keeping aliens I rescued from a spacecraft crash hidden in my garage.”
Skeptic: “Oh yeah? Show me.”
Crackpot: “Look” [opens garage door]
Skeptic: “It’s empty.”
Crackpot: “No it’s not. I used alien technology from the spacecraft to cloak the incubators I’m using to keep them alive.”

Crackpot: “There are really thousands of deaths from swine flu.”
Skeptic: “Oh yeah? I hadn’t heard anything like that. Show me.”
Crackpot: “See here.” [types “www.swine-flu-crackpot.blogspot.org” into a browser]
Skeptic: “That’s just some guy ranting. It doesn’t even have links to news articles or anything.”
Crackpot: “Well, news articles don’t mean anything anyway because the Mexican government is keeping it secret.”
Skeptic: “So where does this guy get his information?”
Crackpot: “A friend of a friend of a second cousin who works at the CDC.”
Skeptic: “So what you’re telling me is that you cannot provide any credible object evidence that what you’re claiming is true?”
Crackpot: “True. But you cannot prove that it is false because I can always fall back on my foolproof defense that the real information is being stored and controlled by the secret world government located on the dark side of the moon that started this whole outbreak in the first place. And even if you spend billions of dollars to develop your own lunar module to go look at the dark side of the moon and tell me nothing is there, I’ll just say it’s buried beneath the surface or cloaked by the aforementioned alien technology.”

In the news report I heard today [click on the “Air Force Dumb” link http://www.scpr.org/programs/pattmorrison/] the Wall Street Journal reporter covering this explained that part of the reason notification was not more widespread is that the mission was technically “classified” at a low level. So, granted, they weren’t the nuclear launch codes, but they still couldn’t put a notice in the New York Times that it was happening.

To the conspiracy theorists upthread (in the style of the SNL Weekend Update “Really?!” segment): You think it’s that easy to hijack the backup Air Force One jet, really? You can’t imagine why an F-16 would be trailing it, really? Because, really, despite tons of coverage of two wars over the past 20 years you’ve never seen footage from the combat camera of military aircraft? So it doesn’t occur to you that a forward facing camera on a trailing aircraft could be used to capture really cool mid-air footage of ‘Air Force One’ flying past the Statue of Liberty, really? REALLY?"

Sometimes just posting the link is not enough. The really important point is this:
“A member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has dismissed claims that more than 150 people have died from swine flu, saying it has officially recorded only seven deaths around the world.” This was as of 29/04/09.

A lot of people have been talking about swine flu as if it is certain death if you get it. Yet, it appears to be more virulent than seasonal flu (which, BTW, kills more people per year than swine flu has so far), but not particularly lethal.

So wash your freakin’ hands regularly, cover your mouth when you sneeze, and get on with your lives.
