I think the two Phobos packs should be seen as one – sadly I didn’t find a better deck than with Phobos only. :P

aegis (iirc) apex, hydra, tremor wyrm, goliath etc.

I used the non-upgraded versions of the respective cards – upgraded cards are marked with a (*). However, Standard Packs are certainly skewed as new cards have later been added to it – I didn’t account for that and use the packs as they are available now.

did you also account for these old buffs: http://tyrant.40in.net/kg/news.php?id=140
e.g. used the old unupgraded 2/2/2 hydra rather than the current unupgraded 3/4/2 hydra?

if you did, it should be giving a measure of the powercreep in packs when they where released.
if you did not, it measures how packs currently compare with each other.

i’m guessing the latter, since the HW pack rates lower than standard, which is definitely not true pre-buff.

As I said I used the current card data, i.e. post-buff.

So, I have been playing around a bit and tried to come up with the best single-deck setup to beat all 26 quests using only unupgraded cards of a given pack (except in the upgrade pack obv. :P).

Note that I strived to maximize the average rating on auto-play for all quests! This means that there may be singular quests who are not beatable using the given setup. Ratings were obtained using 20k trials on tyrant_optimzer rounded to two decimal digits.

(Sorry for the image – Kong doesn’t properly process tables in textile -_-.)

Raw data is here: http://pastebin.com/z23u1iDT

Tasks up for takers :)

  • Find better decks! :D I tried around a bit but don’t claim optimality.
  • Can anyone find a deck with a higher rating than the Phobos one using the combined Phobos and Phobos Aftermath pack?
  • What are the decks with the highest average rating that have a non-zero chance of beating every quest step for every pack?
  • What are the decks that maximize the minimum quest rating for every pack?
(I.e., a deck’s rating is the worst rating of all quest steps. And yes, this is a hard task!)

*Side note, Urban Myth has 1 spot currently available (send me a message if interested)…but if a faction/group would like any input on who might be a good fit for your particular faction to merge with, I’d be happy to help with any suggestion/input. Different factions have different goals, and finding a good fit is essential…I’ll do my best to help you (but really us, the Tyrant community…we’re all in the same boat with each other now)

.

Totally agreed – being back in a full and active faction and also having a new pack available actually got me back to playing more again because I enjoy it again! Especially since it is only so much time left. That having said, have fun and good luck to all! :)

Personally, I don’t see any associated server costs for a sandboxed game. You provide a flash file which is hosted and delivered by kong at absolutely zero cost for you! Just like pretty much any other game on here.

The game is designed to work as a client to some server that feeds it data. The client can certainly be held on Kong forever (as you suggest). But without the server the client won’t work. The server side is what the devs would have to spend money on. If you want them to redesign their whole game to be 100% client side, there would be cost to that in development time.

-Pip

My understanding of a sandboxed game is that it runs without the server side (i.e., without tournaments etc.).

I know it’s a long shot but why not sandbox the game instead closing it entirely next year?

Correct, two raids.

Don’t know why you quote my post without answer my question, or your reply “Correct” was to my question? (another long shot… I know)

Sorry that quote was just a mistake.

The issue is server costs (which would be just as much an issue if we sandboxed the game) but we’ll see. Note that the August 15th shutdown date is an earliest date. It’s possible (but with no guarantee) that it will continue afterwards. We’ll see what it looks like when we get closer.
