Topic: Off-topic / censorship is pointless

Religion is a particularly confusing thing for me, so if you would please help me out with this subject.

If you commit suicide, it is said that you would go to Hell. Well, God has given us choice so basically free will has it’s day off. If we have free will, why does God choose where we shall go. Some people (call me crazy) want to go to Hell or they want to go to Purgatory. It has no appeal to me, but if you could just explain this.

NOTE TO READERS I am not thinking about suicide, just a curiousity about this matter.

Here in Germany we have a strange way of separating school and church. In the last few days one example proved this to me without doubt.
Female teachers are not allowed to wear a headscarf because that is a religious symbol and that could not be accepted in a public school.
Recently Aygül Özkan, a female German minister with Turkish roots, did the only logical thing and spoke out against religious symbols in public schools in general, also crucifixes. Immidiately after this statement her party members rushed in to “clarify” it a bit. It is interesting to note that her party was one of those who played a major role in the headscarf-issue. I am stupefied that no one seems to notice how hypocritical her colleagues behave now.
Funny enough the public discussion is only about the ban of crucifixes in the classroom and how this would be against our traditions. People have completely forgotten that she did not only address Christian symbols. She even received threats for her “outrageous” and “absurd” ideas. Reminds me a bit of that South Park controversy, to be quite honest, only that here we are not talking about mockery but about a serious issue.

My opinion on this. If the government wants to separate church and school they should do it the right way. A public school is not supposed to have a religious profile because it is public, for everyone.

What are your views on this story and what do you think is the correct decision here? Any alternatives?
