Guard can actually kill the BM faster. It makes all Allies that were to attack your Champ attack the Guarded Ally instead. Unless you have other blockers out, it’ll die pretty fast unless it’s leveled up, even with the Giant buff.

Q: When does buyable abilities (the limited edition ones) become useful in the long run?

A: It depends on the skills and what you prefer to use, but skills like Stun Breaker and Ice Bats will become useful immediately if you are intent on PvPing. The transformation skills, aside from Spider form in certain niche builds/instances (like specific bosses) aren’t really that useful. The Power Up augments are decent, especially the Powerdrain and Cleave ones (which are both quite useful in PvP) as well as the Ironskin one (for mages, for both bossing and PvP, but it’s harder to use).

There are other skills that have niche uses in regular builds, like Shield Block, Shield Bash, and, if you farm HP a bit, Chaos Bomb, and then there are some skills that never really become useful, like Obliterate. All in all, most of these abilities, aside from the first two I listed, won’t really be of much use until after level 30, when your stats are high enough and gear becomes strong enough to make a difference.

Topic: Cloudstone / Is Cloudstone Pay to Win?

I just respec’d my character and noticed another pay-to-win element: skill slots 7 and 8 are made available based on the number of rubies you have bought. There is no in-game way to get those; since these slots are used for skills and potions, and you learn more skills as the game progresses, not having these slots starts to severely limit what skills and pots you can easily employ during combat from around level 30 onward.

I’d say that’s the recommended minimum amount that Cloudstone is going to cost the paying player: you can buy 200 Rubies for 180 Kreds (115+55+10+10+10), which is around 18$. This will automatically unlock all skill slots. You then have 200 Rubies, which you can use to upgrade your inventory to a comfortable 80 slots.

Or you could just do surveys. Getting 180 Kreds from surveys may take a while, but this is just another version of time vs. money. To be honest, if a game allows you to pay to save time, that’s fine. That’s actually fair. If you value your time more than your money, then go ahead and pay up. Epic drops and contract equips are only slightly worse than Ruby equips of the same level, so you can either grind for days/weeks/months for the equip or pay up front for it. Same can be said for shards, too. Either spend Vigor and slowly advance (like the vast majority of players), or buy boosts and do it faster. There is no “winning” at this game, so there’s no need to compare yourself to someone else in this instance except for self-gratification.

As for the issue of PvP/Rift going to the paying players, that’s not entirely true, either. First off, you have to actually be able to win. You either need to have a good build, or a lot of shards, or decent gear, or just skill in general, or any combination of those to win. Just because you pay a lot of money into the game for good gear does not mean that you’ll win every fight. Likewise, just because you spam Dumplings does not mean you will win more points. Sometimes opponent match-ups or your luck with curses are just not in your favor.

This game does not limit certain overpowered items or gear to paying players only. This game does not limit content to paying players only (your argument about the skill slots isn’t entirely valid, either, as we only ever had six slots up until recently, so you’re not really losing anything by not having them, it’s just easier to play with them since you don’t need to swap out slots). This game does not limit the power cap to paying players only (Flattie, anyone?). This game is, in fact, one of the more fair microtransaction games out there.

Also, hello everyone!

A: The equipment that you currently have equipped doesn’t effect the cosmetic changes save for some masks/hats/helmets (such as the Stone Rider helmets or the Stoic Mask) that cover up the hair or face entirely, but these can be hidden. Removing your equipment just makes it easier to see what you’re changing. It also makes you naked. Yay for pixel parts.

A: It doesn’t always contain Healing Potions. In fact, most of the stuff in the Mystery Box is pretty terrible, so getting Healing Potions is actually pretty good, considering that it’s one of the better items to get. A full list of items that can be found in the Mystery Box can be found here:

It’s the same for the other two contract weapons. You can’t sell them until you complete the third contract in the chain. The reason being that you need the previous iteration of the weapon in order to upgrade it to the next level via the contract.

It’s far from impossible. In fact, the best way to get first in PvP or Rift (unless you get a really easy PvP league) is to log on nearly every five hours and spend your Vigor on high point fights (and win).

*This also helps to earn money. If you can do this, replace your whisker roots with Seed Berries which helps you to earn 800 gold every after 20 hrs. compared to 595 of whisker roots. (This may not be accurate.)

Fixed that part for you. It’s Seed Berries that net you 800 gold in 20 hours.

Do you mean that you’re not in the guild anymore, or that you’re not in the top ten on the Rift scores anymore? Zshadow doesn’t seem like the type to kick people randomly, especially if they’re contributing in some way, like Rift points. If you’re not in the top ten on the scores anymore, though, it means that someone passed you in points.

When the devs look at the player numbers and make a thread “help us to take more of your money” instead of “tell us how to make this more fun”, it shows a certain attitude. It should be the other way around, then the money will flow naturally.

I enjoy games and I enjoy paying for them. Devs on kickstarter actually get money in advance quite often. But that’s because they are actually games that are made with love. Instead of putting as little effort as possible and using every cheap trick to whore money out of people.

I think you misunderstand the intention of this post. I am not a dev, but I do like to think that I’m close to them. Believe me when I say that they are indeed trying to make Cloudstone more fun, and they have a lot of plans for the future.

The intent behind this thread was that both the devs and myself want to know what things in this game people would pay money for. Yes, this game is fun, and it could be better, but at the end of the day, this is a business, and the devs need to eat, too. I’m simply just trying to find out what sorts of things people would like to see implemented that would be worth buying, or at least get people interested enough in the game to stick around long enough to consider putting down a few dollars here or there to improve their experience.

I wonder how does it work?

If they are on the top 100 global ranking board, you can click on their name to bring up the Viewer, then copy the UID number from the URL address, and replace the UID number in the URL of your own Forum Posts page. Tada! You are now on that person’s Kongregate Forum Posts page, and now know their Kong name.

Don’t get me wrong, this approach is faster, but because it relies on a Google search, it’s not always possible to find the name of the person you’re looking for right away. My approach may be more time consuming (at first), it’s much more accurate in the fact that it can find exactly what you’re looking for right away, and can even work in reverse.

It’s not a bug. I think it may be more of an oversight. Whether or not it gets fixed is to be seen, as we are unsure if it even needs to be fixed.

Or maybe I should switch to gold HPpots from shop (or at least are they good enough to be used as backup)?

A: Jelly Juice can be easily acquired by completing easier floors on The Rift, or by completing missions on Mondomesa (the missions Wayward Path and Jungle Clearing can be run through very quickly by simply ignoring the monsters. Fast way to get more JJ). Also, the Mondomesa zone Underground Dungeons has a guaranteed ETC that may contain them as well (just take the left-most cave at the top of the second area, then just keep going).

I would highly recommend you not spend gold on the potions from the shop, as they are wildly expensive. If you’re having issues with managing your health between Rejuv Plants, it might be worth investing in Healbomb. Aside from some bosses and champion monster, you shouldn’t need potions for regular PvE zones.

Q: Is the bat scrap ruby contract repeatable or a one-time thing?

A: To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure. I’ve heard that it is repeatable, but I’ve also heard that it has disappeared for some people after completing it. It might be bugged, or it could be false information. I’ve personally never bothered to complete it, though.

EDIT: Just realized that I had the required items to finish it, and upon doing so, it disappeared. So, in my own experience, it isn’t repeatable, but it may have been at one point.

On the Troubled Lands mission, on the Desert map (the one with Dirge Spiders, the little skull spider things), go to the bottom part of the map, and you’ll see two plants next to each other against the edge of the island. Break them and walk off the edge. You’ll end up along an invisible walkway that leads to another small island with an Epic Treasure Chest.

To be a bit clearer: there are two maps. One is the Desert map; the other is what I call the Mudpit map (mud visible top of screen; you get constant spawns of mudballs). The Mudpit map has no epic chest AFAIK; it just has some destructible grass (at least three of which are monsters) and a chest monster.

So technically, a TL mission has only a 50% of an epic chest, and you’ll know it as soon as you see the map.

If you happen upon the Mudpit map, go kill the chest monster on the far left of the screen. It sometimes gives Power Potions or other supplies that may be useful. The advantage to leaving the map is that it has a short cooldown, so it’s not long before you can attempt again. Even with a 50% chance of getting the map you want, it’s fairly easy to farm ETCs this way.
