Amorphous+ Complete Reward/Award guide!
Thought I might add a few tips on the “Hard to Get” awards.
*Unbelievable Combo: This takes a clutter, ideally done early on in a nest/bounty run OR at the very end of a nest so you only have to deal with the clutters and Green Gooples. All it takes is a single clutter really. Let it plaster you with clutter spawn and then shake em’ all off. Don’t kill them though. Feel free to splat the first one but make sure the rest grow to full size. Herd at least three (better to have more) into a single area and chop. If you’re lucky, they’ll all pop 3 min clutters which you can chop in one swing. That’s 9 at best, enough to the 8 glooples required. The razor glave makes this even easier.
*Killer Swing: Getting a 300 point swing can be done a lot of different ways. If you REALLY herded the clutters well you might get this with the combo award, otherwise I’d suggest breaking down a Grinder and catching two of anything else in the final killing blow. 300+ points as simple as that. Of course, getting a grinder to roll over acid/take a grenade, and then hit it 5 more times… That can be rough. Still, the razor glave makes this much easier. One hit to make it red, two more for the kill.
*Bragging Rights: No real ‘tactics’ for clearing a Huge Nest. My advice is hope you don’t get too many surprise torchies or a razor queen near the end. The Razor glave makes it easier but ‘easier’ is relative. Just keep trying! D:
*Splatter Bait: You can be killed by… Biter bite, Meltie acid, Sharp impale, Grinder squish, Fuzzle chomp, Oozle absorb, Torchie explosion, Torchie fire burns you to death, frozen by a Frostie and shattered by any impact, Gray impales and absorbs you, Amalgam absorbs you, Horror slices you to bits, Horror spike imaples you, Buzz saw cuts you in half, Void eater makes you explode, Void eater disintegrates you with its beam, Queen(s) cut your head off, Queen(s) cut you in half, Razor Queen’s burrower chops you in half, razor queen’s spike jack squashes you, you’re caught inside your own wall creator (doh!), you’re caught in a grenade blast, your buzz saw chops you up. ..disturbing!
*Legend: 3000 points isn’t easy. You may not want to stick around in a nest since your score is limited, but if you find the difficulty curve ramping up too high in a Bounty Run then consider taking on a small nest and ONLY splatting high-point combos. Don’t forget, grenades may waste a ton of them but you don’t get a multiplier if you don’t hit it with your sword.
*Untouchable: Survive for 10 minutes? This is definitely a chore. Set the difficulty to slow (obviously) and get yourself a stop watch, you’ll be surprised how motivated you get when you know how long you have to go. Other than that, the reactive armor, repulsor and grenade are all great at timely butt saving.
*Dismantler/Physics Defied: Getting a gray or Void Eater to appear is a chore in itself but the early stages of bounty run are pretty good for that. Set the spawn rate high and just let the little green blobs bounce for a while. (Good time to get the pacifist award) Eventually they’ll start morphing together with little extra danger around you. You’ll need 5 Grays and 3 Void Eaters. This may take time but remember, grays can only be hit when the tendril lance is thrusting and void eaters sh.ould be splatted the instant it charges up for the disintegrator beam
*No Fear: Similar to the last award but much more annoying to pull off. Just slay anything in the area that isn’t a biter and try to enjoy holding your tail between your legs as you meekly dodge the constant biter lunges. A horror will pop up as soon as they bump into each other enough. At that point just… well, keep running until it launches its disks at you. Move in for the kill and hope you stay in one piece… Kill 3 of them off. It only SOUNDS like a low number.
*Jackpot!: Not too hard if you’re clearing out small nests consistently. Your score doesn’t have to END at 777, just hit that mark. Get around 750 and get real, real careful with your swings. Pause it if you see a gloople and need to do the math. Remember: Green glooples =1, Stickies = 3, Biters = 8, Melties = 10, Clutters = 8, Mini clutters = 3.
*Burn Ward: It’s darn hard to control yourself when you’re lit on fire but it’s still possible. Aim for a sticky splatter when you’re lit and… try not to get torched without one on screen. Remember, you can’t catch on fire with the reactive armor on.
*Queensbane / Merciless: First off, get darn good at fighting them in practice mode. You’ll almost never kill the queens the first time you see them.
Fighting a Red Queen: I find I can really only kill them with the normal sword. Rather than dodge and weave I take a swipe and wait for the queen to dodge, then stand stone still and wait for her next attack. If you time your attack for the instant her attack starts, your blade will hit her first and splat her instantly. Too early and she’ll dodge back, too late and you’ll parry her. Either way, she’ll back up for another strike so there’s pretty much endless amounts of tries! Kill her 3 times for the award.
Fighting a Razor Queen: Very, very hard. The only time you can hit her is when she does a forward lunge. Dodge to the side, take one swipe at her core and run the heck away before she counterattacks. Five hits will kill her but remember, the kill has to be done with a sword, not an item to count towards the award. She only lunges when you’re directly in front of her and too far to simply swipe at. Getting that distance of course… You need only slay her twice for this award.
Getting the Queens to appear: The most reliable and survivable method I’ve found is to finish off a small nest and leave 2 glooples alive at the end. Let the final two glooples go in and off screen for potentially a LONG time, luring any glooples that chase you off screen so you don’t splat them. Everytime they pop at the edge of the screen there’s a chance it’ll be a Queen or a Razor Queen. This takes patience and if an Amalgam shows up it’s pretty much over since they can’t be chased off screen.
Hope that helps!
