But a government doesn’t “go” corrupt, it gets corrupted. Also, what’s up with speaking of the government as if it’s a single will?

I didn’t literally mean destroy the planet but I mean it would erase all living beings.

Still no. Maybe everything on the land if you’re lucky, but even there are incredibly resilient bacteria and (I think) fungi.

Humans won’t evolve from resilient bacteria. @Vik: You are right and I’m running out of things to say. I feel like I’ve gave my point and you have given yours.

How do you go about killing another person a hundred yards away, without moving, spur of the moment, without using a projectile weapon?

As to the nuclear bombs question, if you combined all of the nuclear weapons from every arsenal in the world, and set them off at once, you would have nowhere near enough force to destroy the planet. Nuclear weapons numbering in the thousands or tens of thousands simply are not powerful enough to do that. We don’t have any weapon that could destroy the planet. Nothing we have comes close to enough punch.

Saying that, they are powerful enough to level a city in one shot. Would you be happy with giving nuclear weapons to random citizens of the country and trusting they would use the weapons sensibly, or would you prefer those weapons were locked tightly away, used only by those with enough training and gravitas to only activate them if there is absolutely no other choice?

You never know if the government will go corrupt or not. Not saying they will just stressing my point.

Unfortunately such a ‘perfect society’ with perfect people is not even remotely realistic.

So, we have a tool that kills, maims, and generally shreds flesh even at great distances. This tool is continually being upgraded and improved and available in a staggering variety of types and capabilities.

In order to look out for the best interests of every member of a society where these tools are commonplace, rules and restrictions on their use are absolutely mandatory.

At the end of the day people are killing through use of the tool. Without the tool they cannot kill even remotely as effectively, unless they are right up close and personal with the other party. A human without the tool loses the ability to easily kill or maim from a distance, so it is meaningless to claim that it is not the tool that kills, for it is.

I agree to a point. Of course the “perfect society” isn’t even realistic. As for people being killed by a tool…
Plenty of people are killed by the bare hands of another. True you have to be up close and personal but thats not very hard to do. I guess another question I have is why does the Government get to control nuclear bombs that could wipe out the planet? What if they make the wrong decision. Of course guns aren’t as serious as a nuclear bomb.

from what i read i can see ome of you are a little upset with the rule on gun being chanched as your o used to the right being the same for many years, but as time goes on things will chance acording to whats happening. as you should remember when that right was made guns were a lot diferent from what they are know. from being mostly one shoot rounds not acurite from distince and les power full but could still kill if shoot in right place, todays guns moltiple shoots more acurite longer range and more powerful and dealing more kill shoot spots and easyer to get to.

i dont think the right should be taken away all to gether as that would be unfair on those who use them in right way, but making them harder to falk in to wrong hands will help. like baning someone who make a fire arms rolated crime i.e holding a tore ect at gun point or shooting someone for no reasion. even having a gun licince might help and doing cheeks on people to make sure thirs not a chance that they will go off the deep end and go on a shooting rampage around the town ect

A gun isn’t a living object. Guns kill people this is true, but only if the person behind that trigger makes that so. In a perfect society people would be more responsible and careful with guns and there wouldn’t be any physcopaths even touching a gun.

I don’t have time to read all those articles. Sorry.
@vik: How many of those devices are mechanically broken do you think? You can put all the systems and devices in it to make it as safe as you think you can but humans make mistakes. It’s in our nature. Sometimes is can be more deliberate than others but there’s nothing the victim can do to change that. There is no reason someone can’t have a firearm for the sport of it or home defense. You can’t always know what or how that crazy guy got the gun and killed someone. Could’ve came from another country. You just don’t know.

What does the government think they can do? Lowering magazine sizes won’t affect how many innocent people someone kills. The government try to make laws and they have no idea what they are talking about. They have never held a gun in there life let alone seen one face to face. They are dabbing into a subject they know nothing about.

(This is coming from someone who hunts and shoots on a nearly daily basis)

Care to explain why every country with strict firearm laws has less firearm related deaths?

Key word there is less. Not all. Sure it reduces violence but it happens no matter what

There likely is NO such thing as perfection….ALL.

I see REDUCTION as going the right direction towards such a goal in this case.
Just how hard can that be to understand?

The real crux of the issue of reduction is: how far can what measures take us….and what is the price to be paid….on both sides of the coin….loses of “freedoms/rights” vs. loses of lives & well-being of ppl?

Life is merely one complicated series of compromises.
The prudent mind knows this and endeavors to gather the best information available, assess it, apply it, and move on to the next issue.

Instead, today those who have the power to do that for so many of us are bogged down in this shit only on the gun issues, but on so many other extremely important ones, also.

I agree but I feel the government is pushing this way too far. Let’s be real…car crashes are more common and more deadly than guns yet you don’t see the government taking people’s cars away or doing background checks to make sure they won’t do something to harm someone else.

Plus, Kongregate’s ads have steadily gotten more annoying and intrusive, so that’s nice too. Priority support isn’t something often used or noticed, but that’s nice. Beta games usually do nothing for me, but that’s a neat bonus, I guess.

So your paying money for security of chatting and less ads? Seems more logical just to save the money for something else and just put up with the adds. If you miswhisper be more careful.

If you don’t want it, don’t buy it. It’s really that simple.

I never said anything about wanting it. I just think it’s a waste of money.
