In 4 weeks when the next major update it out, there won’t be much of a player base left. I’m at only 1.4k newspapers and have been considering quitting for a while now.

I agree mostly with LordBucket.

1. Could have a toggle in the item list where if you run low on fuel or health, it automatically uses up resources to repair/refuel you if you have them and if you toggled the resources to.

2. I disagree with being able to travel back to the ship from anywhere on aerial planets. Sure, the logic is there, but it would take away so much of the challenge.

3. Please do remove the impenetrable rock at the landing site. Replace it with normal ground. It is really annoying.

4. This is a pretty big thing in my opinion, I would love to teleport back down from my ship in the same place as I teleported up to it from.

But even saying these, it is a great game. I love it :)

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] WHA..?!?

It is sad when this happens.

Not enough people make backups of their saves, so this ends up happening way too often. Browsers do have a habit of deleting files at random. I’ve had both Chrome and FF lose my saves before. The only reliable browser I’ve found is IE which has kept some saves from years ago, but I haven’t played any new games on IE for ages :\

Anyway, backup your saves often. It’s an easy and quick process.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] these advertisers have a deadly case of stupid

Ads shouldn’t be overlapping with the game area… you may have downloaded something dodgy at some point which is causing these ads.

If you want to fix it you can install an adblock and block the offending ad while letting the rest of Kong’s ads through (to support the developers).

I also take it that you mistyped the wave you were on, did you mean 142, not 1142? Once you reach the HP cap just level your gems a couple times more and then send all remaining waves.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] Glitch-O-Rama

I’ve played GCL a lot and never seen glitches like this. I mean, I have seen minor glitches in the game like sometimes when you place a gem in a tower is gets stuck and doesn’t do anything, you have to replace to get it to work, and I have seen several bugs that are related to lag.

But for you to get these bugs, and in all in one field too… that’s just weird.

I don’t believe this is to do with the game, but try turning off some options to see if it changes anything.

What browser are you using? Have you tried any others?

Fixed what? +0,1 endurance multiplier per destroyed Tomb.

Pylon leveling:

Ohhh, nevermind, got confused. I was meant to say “Yeah great way to level if you can do it! :D”

Endurance can be good, but at your current level and skill you might be better off replaying old fields with higher settings. Like turn on fast monsters, banished monsters heal, banishment cost increases, armored only, +50% monster health, +50% monsters spawn, +20 waves. This will get you almost a 4x multiplier (compare to vesperbot’s suggestion which gives about 2x multiplier before endurance). Then summon if you can to up it a bit further and go for amulets. Amulets like build 10 towers and build 2 shrines are easy to get at the end of the game with leftover mana. Send waves early to get all the amulets for sending waves early (they go up to 1800 mana). At the end of a game hover over the amulets at the top to see which ones are left; try to get them all.

This could increase your score in a field by 10 times. Thus earning you a lot of experience.

Start at the early fields as they are easier, then build up.
If the settings are too hard, reduce the +50% monsters/monster health settings to a lower value.

You’ll build up gemcraft skills which will help you with endurance. Honestly, if this is your first playthrough I don’t think you’re quite ready for endurance. Sure you may earn some exp from it, but you will probably level faster by replaying older levels as I suggested above.
Good luck!

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] why does it crash?

It’s not a crash, merely a freeze. I have the same problem. Whenever I finish an endurance mode (not a pylon endurance), the game will freeze and it will put up messages saying the shockwave player has crashed. However, if you ignore these messages and wait a couple of minutes the game will unfreeze and continue as normal.

As for the Kong scores, they are bugged to hell. I have this with all games, my scores rarely, if ever, submit.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] hidden monsters

Try to move away from the gem bomb strategy. It’s not that good and will definitely fail you on harder levels. Instead go for a tower and level its gem (dual gems are usually best if you’re not premium) until it becomes expensive to level further. Then add as many amplifiers as you can afford around it with grade-1 gems in. Just keep levelling the gem and adding more amps until you win the level. Adding amps HUGELY boosts firerate and range, and adds a little bit of damage and special.

Save gem bombs for the couple monsters that make it through, but do not use them as your main weapon.

The single-gem strategy can fail a bit on swarm monsters. You have two choices here:
1. Play with the armored only setting.
2. Place a couple low-grade gems in towers around around the map to deal with the swarms while your main tower deals with the tougher monsters.

^ best advice.

But also, with your wild gem, if it’s not any good (which will almost always be the case) sell it straight away and buy a couple high grade gems with the extra mana.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] Best td I've played

Personally, this is my favourite TD too. I love the atmosphere of the game and strategy, plus the fact you mix and match different gem colours to suit your needs is a cool feature.

I don’t mind the keyboard controls, but, yes, customisation of them would be nice. I’ve never experienced the problem you’ve had with the shift key: perhaps you should try a different browser? It sounds more like something at your end rather than a bug in the game.

I do feel they’ve made a mistake with the premium content. Especially endurance mode. I think it would be better if non-premium players could unlock endurance by, say, completing the game. The rest of premium content is reasonable, and I am very glad the game can be beaten without paying money. If you did have to pay to win, this game would drop down to one of my least favourite TDs, despite all its epicness.

The sound is nice I find, but in endurance runs having the constant beating sound of your mana-trap gem becomes a pain. I usually turn that off.

But the most surprising thing about this game is that despite the fact is gets really laggy when you summon loads of monsters (I have a really old/slow computer too), the game never crashes. It’s surprisingly stable. You can summon more or less as many as you want, and provided you wait and leave your computer alone, the game will munch through all the monsters and not crash. Even sometimes the browser stops responding, but if you wait, the game returns.

The vast range of levels offer a new challenge every field, and the level-up system is a nice addition. What could make this game even better if there was a bit more to do, such as more unlockable objects and more upgrades, but these seem to be fixed in Gemcraft 2. I can’t wait.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] Terminology and Summons

Summoning won’t increase your multiplier, but will get you amulets and allow you to gather more mana sooner. So on early waves you should summon so you can get a high grade gem quickly, ready for the tougher waves.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] Strategy for Field C11?

By the time you reach level 1000, you should be able to handle full battle settings. Even with a ‘poor’ strategy.

In addition, a G9 Y tower with a few amps can easily kill the shadow.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] Playing Pylon Level as Endurance

It ‘crashes’ a lot if you use chrome. However, this crash is only temporary and if you wait a few minutes WITHOUT clicking anything or trying to run any other programs, it will fix itself. You must be patient.

There is a trick you can use on any pylon level if you find yourself losing with only a few thousand points left to charge.

Pause the game then follow these steps:
1. Set all gems to target structures (the pylon) (shift+click on a gem to change what it targets). If you have trap gems, consider removing them from their traps and placing in towers targetting the pylon.
2. Send all remaining waves (ctrl+click on a wavestone).
3. Now unpause, wait, and hope for the best.

The mana lost from monsters reaching your orb will be countered by the mana gained by starting waves early – you may wish to set your mana pool to auto extend when it fills up. This will allow you to survive for a while longer and, hopefully, allow you to finish charging the pylon.

Also, I recommend turning all settings to their minimum or off in the options before using this tactic. The game gets laggy with many monsters on the screen.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] High Level Skill Analysis

May I ask why you favour an OLB gem over a YOL? Slow is always useful but I find having a huge damage multiplier (which is increased further by the chain hit) is much more useful. On max settings (depending on your skills) you can stop all waves with a G25 YOL with 4 high grade amps.

If at any point I need to slow the enemies I just create a G20 slow-shock-chain gem in a tower with random targetting. G20 is really cheap to make late-game and it will slow every monster on the screen to the point where they barely move at all (means you can summon thousands of monsters and slow them enough that they can’t get past your trap gem).

Anyway, in short, damage-chain-mana is better than slow-chain-mana at high grades in my opinion.

Topic: General Gaming / [GemCraft Labyrinth] Lost account

It’s a common glitch which has appeared over the past few days. It’s affecting a large number of flash games.

A way of fixing the problem is to try changing browser. If that doesn’t work then just wait for the people at flash or wherever to fix the problem.

This loss of data has nothing to do with gemcraft.
