Chapter 4, Hi there!
“Umm… who are you?” Cyrus asked after a few moment of uncomfortable silence, uncomfortable for him anyways. After a few moments, she blinked and stood up.
“HI!” She repeated. “Most people know me as Terra, some call me Allison, but you, and my friend, may call me Ally.” Her voice was quite loud, he noted, as if she were excited about something.
“Right… So, Ally, Have you been following me?”
“Depends on what you mean by ‘following’.” Abby walked over to where his card box had fallen and picked it up. “If you mean followed you here from the town, the yes, I did?”
“Why?” He watched as she opened his card box and started looking through it.
“Well, you see, me some of my friends are looking for someone, so I came to this town. When I saw you leave town, I decided to see what you were doing.” She smiled and nodded her head as she looked through his cards, as if approving.
“Well…if you aren’t going to kill me… can I get up now?” Cyrus asked.
“Oh! Right, forgot, sorry.” With a flick of her wrist, the stone slabs around his arms and legs sank back into the ground. Cyrus rubbed his wrists and stood up. Now standing, He could see Abby more clearly. She was only a few inches shorter than him about 5’ 5”. She had bright brown hair to go along with her brilliant brown eyes. Her hair was slightly wavy, and just reached her shoulders.
Her apparel wasn’t too strange. She wore a slim, tan tunic with a white shirt underneath. She also wore darker tan, mid-thigh shorts, which had several pockets. Slung around her waist and resting at her hip was a dark bag. He also noticed a near transparent brown crystal at her shoulder.
“So, how long were you watching me?” Cyrus asked.
“Long enough to see that you are a preety good water mage.” Ally said, handing him his card box.
“Eh, I’m not too good. I mean, my cards aren’t great. They are mostly just the basic cards I got for joining the army and prizes from tournaments or bets that I’ve won.”
“Your cards may suck, but the way you were using them was good!” Ally’s eyes lit up.
“Meh I spose.” Cyrus thought it was strange that this, well, stranger was complimenting him. “So I take it you are just passing through?”
“Well, yeah, I usually spend a day or two in a city before moving on to the next. Finding this person seems to have taken a while…”
“So you’ll be moving on to the next city? I hope you find who you’re looking for soon.”
“Well, actually, I…” She began, but suddenly, a loud ring of a bell sounded, coming from the town’s clock tower. The clock rung for 30 seconds then stopped.
“Well, I gotta go.” Cyrus said, and began walking away.
“Wha-Why?” Ally asked, taking a few steps after him. Cyrus stopped and turned around.
“The bell rang.” Cyrus replied. He sighed and continued when she didn’t respond. “It means they will be closing the gates, and that everyone needs to be inside the gates. Sorry, but I have to go.”
“Oh…ok” Ally said softly, her normally cheerful demeanor seemed to diminish.
“Yeah… well, good luck on your quest.” Cyrus turned back around and walked back towards the city, leaving Ally alone.
The next day, Cyrus once again went through his normal routine. He would wake up, after his dad had left to go fishing early in the morning. He ate breakfast, and went to the military training school. He was walking down the hall from his last lesson about countering specific nations when he noticed a group of people from his class all huddled around a person. He looked more closely, and was surprised to see…Ally.
Oh no! Another break!? Seriously!?
Yeah, seriously, but you can vote now:
A. Cyrus should approach when she is alone Ally and try to talk to her alone.
B. Cyrus should approach the group and ask to talk to Ally alone.
C. Cyrus should approach the group and listen to what is going on.
D. Cyrus should walk away, nothing interesting going on over there.
