Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [WarMage Battlegrounds] thia and Pryde meet!

Pryde was in the general area of the Philadelphia offices yesterday! He had a couple hours to waste before hitting the airport and I happened to be in his neck of the woods, so we coordinated a quick get together at a Starbucks in a nearby mall and I rushed out the door to meet him.

We chatted about the game (likes, dislikes, things he’d like to see), other games we like to play, our non-gaming lives, and watched my kid try to color the table.

If you’re ever in Philly or Mesa, let us know! We’d love to meet you too. :)

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [WarMage Battlegrounds] Tips & Tricks

Wanted to start a tips & tricks thread. Here are a few to get started. Any you’d add?

TIPS & TRICKS

Flanking
Squads (yours or your teammate’s) on opposite sides of an enemy squad will provide a Flanking Bonus to their attacks against the target. A Flanking Bonus provides a bonus to the damage inflicted on the flanked enemy unit.

Area of Effect
Area of Effect (AoE) spells and abilities can be very powerful. Use them at opportune moments to wreak havoc among your enemy’s squads, create powerful barriers or heal multiple friendly units all at once.

Morale
Do not spend your morale as soon as you get it! Use it wisely when it can have the most impact. The Power Level indicated on each of your squad’s Special Abilities represents a combination of the Morale Cost of the Ability times the number of units within your squad. However, the power level is capped at the amount of Morale you have. For example, if you have fifty Dwarf Barbarians and your Mighty Axe Strike has a Power Level of four this means only four of the Barbarians will attack with the extra ability and that you should wait until you have gained more Morale and can get a higher power level.

Unit Strengths/Weaknesses
Some Battle Units are stronger against one type of damage than another. For example Human Defenders are strong against physical attacks and so should be up near the front of the battle taking on other units that do physical damage. Human Icemages, however, are weak against most forms of damage and should be kept to the back where they can use their ranged attacks to maximum effect. Battle Units with a shield tend to have a high resistance to piercing weapons while Battle Units with Helmets tend to have a high resistance to crushing damage. You can learn about a Battle Unit’s strengths, weaknesses, resistances, vulnerabilities and more by double clicking the squad in battle or clicking the blue “i” on the Battle Unit’s icon anywhere in the interface.

  • The text for exiting the Tutorial now says “Quit Tutorial” instead of “Surrender.”

  • On occasion, a Region’s information window may be missing some content. This will be resolved in a future update. Until then, you can close out of the game and reload it to populate the Region.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [WarMage Battlegrounds] dead?

Hi deadmanwakeup!

WarMage Battlegrounds is currently in open beta. While we’re in this mode, server population will be difficult to predict so it’s possible there won’t be anyone on when you’re looking to play. We recommend playing against CPU WarMages or recruiting a friend to join you during low-server population time periods.

Also, there may be players in game who aren’t playing from this site. You can do a /w in game to see if anyone is on!

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [WarMage Battlegrounds] Regarding the names.

Hi gordan460! I don’t believe that name will be accepted — and even if it is, we wouldn’t ban you! We’d go through a name-change process.

Hope to see you in game soon!

Do you get the All Shards Down messaging the first time every time?

Thanks!

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [WarMage Battlegrounds] Suggestions

Oxll and joacim1 – I wanted to follow up and let you know that with the release of 1.7, hopefully a part of your feedback has been addressed. We’ve added a new Starter Gift for all new players. This gift was provided to everyone who had already started playing as well. This should help you get started with trying out some new things. Additionally, we’ve added six new daily bounties that can be completed once every 24 hours that should help you earn more Gold as well.

We have lots more in the works but wanted to follow up with this small update. You can read full 1.7 update notes in our other post on the forums here.
