Avg: 31.8
Stdev: 6.4

Corn is now used more than Rathbone as a starter by a statistically significant amount. Bestor comes in third, with Rumiko and Cain a close fourth and fifth.

I think we all know what really counts here.

I’m the sexiest player.

I am so comfortable with a Corn starter that every time I start with VV, I can always move far and then switch knowing I won’t get intercepted. Quite literally, 4 times today. They always, always voidstream.

And the mean rank today is 30.4, standard dev of 6.3. Greater variation in rank than yesterday YO

Corns are already outstripping Raths as starters in the data, which pretty much reflects TEH KONGAI ZEITGEIST.

Lot of Bestor starters for a card that hasn’t even come out yet. OF THE CLOSET LOLOLOLOL.

Rath, Yoshi, and Ambro are popular benchers, although not quite to a statistically significant effect yet ENDING THIS SENTENCE IN UPPERCASE LETTERS TOO.

Excluding the SR 16 and SR 1 entries, the mean of the ranks is currently 30.11 with a standard deviation of 5.41. For those of you who aren’t familiar with some stats, this means that about 68% of our current sample have opponents with SRs within roughly 5 ranks of 30 (I’m presuming our sample has a normal distribution).

I’ll re-edit the first post of this thread to remind people not to include matches with an SR under 20, it makes copying and pasting into Excel for analysis more cumbersome.

Thanks for the link arthur, JeffCarr’s work looks very comprehensive (although I can’t load anything other than the first page of it because I keep getting a “loading error”). Unfortunately I don’t have time or motivation to collect that much data, I’d rather just run some tests on the most basic data. It would certainly be more informative to collect data for all three cards, maybe if we use a google spreadsheet I won’t be forced to do all the bookkeeping. In such a case we could also record SR, if people wouldn’t mind.

True, I hadn’t figured that people might play “random all” ranked. When you play someone who appears to have a “random all” deck, just ask to make sure and then throw out their data. If they don’t answer and you’re not sure if their deck is “real” or not, play it safe and throw out their data anyway.

I was debating earlier about people’s SRs, I think personally that there are enough players with SRs from 20+ to get useful data. Maybe we should raise the limit from 12 to 20ish?

Thanks for the info but remember, I’m really not searching for people’s personal experiences. Just start recording and see what happens — also, its best to not give me any data at all than to generalize, i.e. “played like 20 matches today, two thirds of them were cc girdle and one or two raths”.

Was in a bit of an argument with zdrum earlier on what kind of starters SR30+s tend to use. In general I’ve always been curious as to which cards people prefer as starters, and I’ve never really been satisfied with the anecdotal, frothing-at-the-mouth “CORN W/ GIRDLE, CORN W/ GIRDLE!!!!” answer; some hard data would be nice.

I’m aware that as people begin to acquire new cards in the next few months, any information we collect now could become useless very quickly… doesn’t really matter though. If we collect for a decent bit of time and our sample size is large enough, we’ll at least be able to point out some very general patterns.

So if you want to help us collect some, refer to the links below.

Some things to keep in mind if you do decide to help :

Please Don’t record the starters of people with skill ranks below 20ish or so. New players mess up the data.

— If you play to same person twice in a row and they use the same deck, still record it as if it were two separate matches.

— Don’t just submit random or fabricated data so you can participate, I know that sounds cynical but people do have agendas/bad senses of humor.

— If you suspect that you’re playing against someone who is using a randomized deck (e.g. “random (all)”), don’t record their data. If you aren’t sure, ask. If they don’t answer, just play it safe and don’t record their data.

Cheers,

Hatch

P.S. And just to start the data off, I’ve played just 4 matches today: 1 CC, 1 Amaya, 1 Juju, 1 Tafari.

Except it’s not just sexiness. We need some cards with tangible, below-the-belt additions.

Yeah there’s a huge flaw you guys overlooked with the knights that was addressed with every other set of cards.

There’s not a single large chested, attractive woman with generous cleavage in the entire set. Even vampires had one and vampires are freakin walking corpses that feed off human blood.

What gives?

Yeah there’s a huge flaw you guys overlooked with the knights that was addressed with every other set of cards. Oh no wait, it was never addressed.

There’s not a single well-endowed, attractive man with a good set of balls in the entire set/game. This is particularly upsetting to me because the knights were going to be the only all-male set, I expected at least ONE of them to be packin’.

What gives?

First off, that KTTV Fox 11 news report is basically a joke. No really, its hilarious. An exploding truck?

1. Simplify your writing, you asked four questions even though you only intended to ask one (the third question). I don’t even understand what you mean by the last one, “what’s the point?” What’s the point of what?

But to answer your third question, they can’t really track down Anon members, and even when they can (say, through IP addresses), they can’t really punish them for anything. You can’t jail someone for acquiring a password, you can only ban them from the original websites they abused. The most controversial “hacking” 4chan has ever really done is DDOS-attacks, which is simply a combination of techniques that make some computer sources unavailable to its intended users (they’ve done this to the CoS websites and ifpi, for example).

2. They aren’t. There is a distinct difference between Anon and 4chan users. Anon are people with a political agenda who claim to be associated with 4chan and internet culture. Actual 4chan users could care less for what the Church of Scientology does.

3. No one is fighting Anonymous. The Church of Scientology doesn’t count.
