Topic: Off-topic / Nintendo's DS or Sony's PSP

Although microsoft is not the focus in the topic, heres my opinion altogether on not just those two systems, but the company as a whole: Nintendo=Microsoft>>>...Sony

honestly, there are good games for the psp, but its kinda hard to find them. i don’t have one, but i have played my friends psp, and there was only one game i liked. while when i got the ds, there were loads of games i played that were great. if only microsoft made a handheld…

Topic: Serious Discussion / Lucid Dreaming

I remember my lucid dream. in the dream, i was at school, however, i quickly realised somthiing was off. i looked behind me and realised there were way to many chairs, and way too little people (the only people were those whom are my friends, who were all in the front row. also, the teacher was writing on the board, but nothing showed up. i took advantage of this. i got up from my chair and walked around, and nobody even so much as glanced at me. i heard my name over the intercom, and walked out in the hall. several people were there, and also, one person wasnt sitting in a chair. i got rid of most and lowered it down to the two who were my friends, nick and sam. i heard my name again over the intercom. i decided it was time to go outside, and the school sunk down instantly all around me. I made my favourite book out of mid-air, and then jumped on the roof of the school (it was two times as tall in my dream) and made my glasses. i started to read and sombody came out of the school and told me i was suspended for ignorring the principle and leaving the school. i threw the book at him, however it never hit him. time froze and the book stopped in mid-air. i walked around and got very bored, considering that there was a large barrier around all of the schools yards and, despite having control over my dream, i couldn’t get rid of it. so i woke up, and it took me quite a while to recall all of it.

They may have took the naming of a stuffed bear muhamed as an insult, but it wasn’t. as said earlyer, she just let a kid in the class with the name to name it after himself.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Homosexual Marriage

On the subject of homosexual marrage, is it at all right for us to stand in the way of two people who love eachother and say “Too bad, your a man and a man.”? Some might say that the bible says that marrage is between a man and a woman, but it wasn’t quite god who wrote that. rather, the people writing the bible decided what went in and what didn’t. There seemes to be several homosexual marrages doing better than straight marrages. I’m not gay, but that doesn’t mean i wont stand up for their rights.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Myspace Suicide story

If you read the whole news story, not saying that you didn’t but just to make a point, before she was told that the world would be a better place without her, the owners of the profile had became very good friends with her and actualy developed a friendship, even if ‘Josh Evans’ Didn’t exist. yet when the profile got into the hands of the other teenager, they didn’t give a name, she started sending hate messages, and it was finnaly one of the original owners of the profile, ashley grills, who told her that the world would be a better place without her. It was sortof a crushing blow. After all, if you became great friends with sombody, and then out of nowhere they told you the world is a better place without you, you may not commit suicide, but you might atleast be depressed for a while. Its not easy to just say when your best friend, even if it was fake, tells you that they hate you “well, ok time to move on.” it just cant work like that.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Myspace Suicide story

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/new…

The story of the girl who commited suicide, all because of somebody who doesnt exist. In the story, there was a Myspace profile, “Josh Evans”, who became friends with the daughter of Ron and Tina Meier, Megan Meier. The ownersof the account, Lori Drew and Ashley Grills, who live four doors away from the Meiers, used the account to become friends with Megan Meier. However, the password to the profile was given to another teenage girl, who then used the profile to send messages to Megan saying that she was mean and no longer wished to be her friend. It was Ashley Grills, however, who sent the message before Megans suicide. The message, sent through Josh Evans Profile, was along the lines of “the world would be a better place without you.” Megan then hung herself. There were no charges pressed against Ashley or the teenage girl, because

Prosecutor Jack Banas said that based on available evidence, the actions of the people involved in the Internet bullying did not meet the standards required by state laws for either harassment, stalking or endangering the welfare of a child.

However the parrents said the cause of suicide was harrasment from the profile Josh Evans. I consider it to be Involuntary manslaughter . A small part of the Manslaughter-Involuntary manslaughter wikipedia article

Recklessness- Recklessness or willful blindness is defined as a wanton disregard for the known dangers of a particular situation. An example of this would be a defendant throwing a brick off a bridge into vehicular traffic below. There exists no intent to kill, consequently a resulting death may not be considered murder. However, the conduct is probably reckless, sometimes used interchangeably with criminally negligent, which may subject the principal to prosecution for involuntary manslaughter: the individual was aware of the risk of injury to others and willfully disregarded it. In many jurisdictions, such as in California, if the unintentional conduct amounts to such gross negligence as to amount to a willful or depraved indifference to human life, the mens rea may be considered to constitute malice. In such a case, the charged offense may be murder, often characterized as second degree murder. In some jurisdictions, such as Victoria, British Columbia, recklessness is sufficient mens rea to justify a conviction for murder.

Technacly, i beilive that fall under such boundaries. Even if she commited suicide, i consider it as such because it’s like the example in the quote. They had no intention of causing her death, but their actions caused it (I am refering to the brick example) Discuss.

I, however, do not agree with that. im not anti-america. its just a matter of freedom of speech. although its not the case over there, what if she didn’t know what would happen? a quote from the story:

David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, said he was “extremely disappointed” with the sentence and summoned Omer Siddig, the Sudanese Ambassador, to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to explain the decision. Mr Miliband said: “We are extremely disappointed that the charges against Gillian Gibbons were not dismissed. Our clear view is that this is an innocent misunderstanding by a dedicated teacher. Our priority now is to ensure Ms Gibbons’s welfare.”

Topic: Serious Discussion / Modern Art

Terrelbot, what i meant by art being the artists personal emotion, is that theres plenty, not all, but defenetly some art that is said to be an expression of their happyness, angst, sadness, ect. take your pick. I also said art is an interpretation of the world around the artist. I was just saying emotion because several artists paintings can be based on how they are feeling at that time. take, for instance, Pablo Picassos Blue period, the reason for the dark blue shades and the subject matter of his paintings in the blue periods was usualy prostitutes and beggars was the suicide of his friend, Carlos Casagemas. Even if that art isnt abstract, its still based on emotion.

alexmiller, im not trying to pick out that particular peice, i was just using it as an example to describe abstract art as a whole. the description being that it could be done by 2 year olds.

Also, the critics buying the art are coming up with bizzare descriptions of the art

“The striking use of oriental calligraphy has the kanji-like characters stampeding from the page, showing the new ascent of the East. It is one of Linsky’s most experimental works.”

It seems now that there is a new definition of art. For some reason, ‘abstract’ art sells, even though it could just be a childs scribbles

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/...

Some would tell you that abstract art is an expression of the artists personal emotion. Art, indeed, is an expression. An interpretation, if you will, of the world and describing that interpretation to others. however, if you cannot understand the interpretation without a full explination from the artist, should it be considered art?

On his pictures are captions. tell me, did you understand the picture at all before reading the caption? Discuss
