[To Devs] Some Feedback
Thanks all for the feedback :-)
i will try to give answers again where possible
>>Found a bug while setting up card list, i think: cards with no set / collectors number show up with every set in deck editor.
Thanks we will add a misc cardset icon end of the week for these cards (they are only available in decks, and it should only be these four cards) so they can be filtered out.
>>There should be a way to see the stats of cards in the starter decks.
sorry, we think that would be too confusing for new player.
>>There should be a way to restart your account.
Sorry that won’t be possible.
>>The PvP arena matching system needs to take into account the quality of cards in the opponent’s deck, not just ELO matching. Going up against an opponent who has all rare+ cards in his deck isn’t very fair when I barely have uncommons.
>>If you surrender or lose to a person, the system shouldn’t proceed to match you against that same person, multiple times in a row.
The PvP matching works like this:
At start the pvp matching will search for players within a small threshold of your elo rating. While your waiting time increases the threshold will be increased. The problem is that currently there are not many players doing PvP yet on Kong, so you will be matched with the same players more often even if his elo is higher than yours (simply because of lack of players).
>>“level progression” – I was able to beat the first five quests using just my starter deck. Next zone: Still can’t beat the first one. So I went back and burnt all my energy on redoing the first five quests. Got a few items.
You may definitely have to adapt your starter deck and try to find synergies or new tactics (speed decks with summon for example), then you will see that the quests in the other locations are doable as well without having to buy dimaonds.
>>The ridiculous “energy” bar.
Without energy the complete content could be played through in less than 24 hours i guess and then it would be boring and there would be complaints as well and we cannot generate content that fast as only the artwork for new cards needs a lot of time and of course you need new ideas for new cards as well which have to be implemented in the fight engine and on the client (animations). In fact most players on our German standalone servers (started a month earlier than Kong) have completed all quests after 1 month without spending money for refills. Anyway we think that PvP live battles are the main challenge in our game anyway as there you have no limitations (neither energy nor bad AI decisions ;-).
>>The irritating why that I spend minutes dragging cards to and from my deck for 5 minutes, hovering my mouse over each one to see exactly what it does and does not do. Okay cool, lets go Que- YES I’m sure I’d like my deck “saved”. Can’t it just auto save every time a single change is made? And then you can have a prompt on the “Did you really mean to click this button that says CLEAR ALL?” instead…
Well we implemented it this way so there are not constant save deck requests on the server. Don’t worry if you changed your deck and leave the screen there will be a question asking you if you want to save before exiting the deck editor. You can also use this and exit without saving if you accidentally clicked the clear button. Nevertheless we could add a popup (Do you really want to clear your deck?) for the clear button ;-)
>>The artwork is fantastic, tell your graphics guys
Thanks i will tell them :-)
>>You click it and it shoots down into a nice radial menu, reminiscient of Planescape: Torment. You are not Planescape: Torment. Just put the buttons along the bottom, or down the side, like every other CCG ever invented. Less clicks = better.
That was a design decision so we can use the screen space 100% for content, so there will be no changes there, though we know it is one extra click.
>>Add a way to play full screen, it’ll solve a lot of your panning/scrolling issues. And add a <— previous region button, just like the —>> next region button… but y’know… Why have one and not the other?
That won’t be possible as the drawn 2d graphics of our artists wouldn’t scale well then. All you can do is change the screen size to big in the settings menu if your monitor allows that and you haven’t done so already. The small screen size is only default on Kongregate.
>>-I wish to see maybe a statistic bar on the side of how many cards of each cost are in my deck, how many types of cards like creatures, spells, armor, weapons, artifact and mounts.
-Allow me to sort my deck’s creatures in terms of cost, attack power, attack type and card faction.
Maybe something for the future, at least i can enter it in our issue management system as a possible improvement in the future, though we have a lot of high priority tasks first.
>>When I click on the symbols on the side turn all the others off so I don’t need to turn each one of individually, and allow me to turn on only the ones I want, so if I click weapons everything else turns off and then I click armor and weapons will stay on.
Note: You can already achieve that by double clicking on a symbol.
>>Turn the damage type scroll into a symbol table for convenience,(maybe move everything up a bit and fit everything closer…) Through I do see how it doesn’t need to be but it look more aesthetically appealing so… do it, lol.
As you see the space is already limited on the deck editor, so that won’t be changed for now.
>>As for the base light booster… we are gonna have so many commons it gonna overflow… let us sell them at least to get back some pearls to buy more silly packs. I would imagine maybe 25 pearls for one common?
As we had a lot of problems with selling options in other games (ohh i accidentally sold my card yx, can you give it back to me) there will most probably be no selling option. Nevertheless maybe we could add a feature like ‘hide cards from deckeditor’ in the future where you can hide cards from the deckeditor, but you still own them and could make them visible again (somewhere) if you wish so. So you could also keep the number of cards in your deckeditor small.
