oh yeah and it’s not really exponential
addition and subtraction is the norm here
multiplication by 2 is growth
division by 2 would be shrink
but exponential? do we really want 6553600000000 power monsters roaming around after just two turns?

No we don’t. And yes it is exponential.

a= 2
b= whatever power it started with plus boost/gripple
x= rounds

y=b*a^x

The trick is to have a boost ability.

If a monster has 100 power and gets 100 by boost. Then shrink is worthless.

If a monster has 1K power and gets 100 by boost. Then shrink is dangerous.

Yeah but shrink would also really op, it would make other cripple cards useless. If you played a shrink card with a jinzo or some other spell destroyer that combo would be unstoppable, especially if you have alot of power boosting spells.

I know, the Shrink abillity is meant to be a anti-grow abillity. We have an exponential-boost combo so I thought it would be nice to have a exponential-gripple combo to contrast.

There’s a drawback with the shrink, if a creature is already low powered. Then it can only do about 500 cripple, which can easily be countered with boost-all abilities.

And some creatures even have both immunities or cripple effects to fight back with. Even Jinzo is not completely helpless as he get’s immune if his opponent has a spell. Said spell will promptly be destroyed by his secondary ability

Also Shrink would be a creature-ability like grow is

I’m aware of the weak spot as the trick is to attack before the era (fyi I learned this from TV Tropes lol).

However, my shrink abillity has another effect. Suddenly, you can no longer just beat the crap out of someone with a 6K Jinzo as the shrink abillity will slowly but firmly destroy him.

And if played against a grow-effect, nothing happens (double the half of the origin power is furtile)

I find the “Grow”-ability a little OP, as it’s difficult to defeat a creature who grows quadratic instead of linear.

But instead of whining, I’d like to suggest a counter.

Name: Shrink
Category: Cripple
Effect: Halves the opponent’s power each round.

Topic: Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM / Trading and what it limits should be

There exist cards which are demi-legend: cards so OP/rare that they might as well be legend but isn’t.

The list of banned (canon) yu-gi-oh cards is full of non-legendary cards for a reason.

Topic: Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM / Tournaments

I’d like follow this up.

Everyone who attends a tournament does it for a prize. Even the most ideal players still do it for the “fun” or the bragging rights.

But to the point.

I think there should be a admission fee for attending the tournament. All the credits spendt (probably minus some that Konami takes for themselves but who cares) in this way makes a huge pile of credits. Those credits should be divided between the top-3 together with a card of equal rarety (the winner gets a Bam, 2nd an ultra rare and so on).

Topic: Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM / The arena deck was a BAD idea.

To give a little suggestion:

Maybe this thread proves why the canon rule in yu-gi-oh is to tribute summon creatures over a certain level.
And the more powerful a spell is, the more likely the spell is either ridiculously rare or has a major backfire ala

“Kill all creatures for the cost of half your LP”

The example above is, of course, pure fiction to prove my point.

well this fact is actually not to get anyone mad about it, it’s more the way this game has beend developed. 1 single card is an instance. If you put this instance into a Deck it’s not available for anything else. Think of having real cards ;)
Actually there are tools out there to easily manipulate Flash Games / Flash Software. If we would change it, people would be easily able to replicate all cards and destroy ingame economy. You would face even harder opponents in the Duel Arena then.

In don’t buy the cheating argument.

First of all, you’re suppose to act like gamemasters, which means it’s your job to prevent people from cheating.
Second people cheat no matter what you do. Maybe it’s a overpowered starterdeck which some rich kid just bought to troll everyone else with his “awesome” power.

Maybe someone invents a trainer to manipulate with the cash values, this is not only likely but tutorials showing how it’s done is easy to google.

If my point isn’t clear already, let me repeat myself: There is no way to completely prevent people from cheat, as the cheaters/hackers/crackers/whatever are just as clever as your whole development team united.

Agreed, and while we at it the same things go for crafting.

I’d rather have my deck deemed useless than having to remove ALL CARDS just to see whether I’m able to craft or not.

Greater server?

Perhaps, but on the other hand they’ll be more ways to keep people playing. Such as tournaments and so on.

Have you ever tried Kingdoms CCG?

They do this and was on top for a long time

The arm bushes gives only that much rewards. There are no way that so little rewards are worth grinding.

As it’s pretty obvious to me, that the Arena and such are run by AI’s (the AI’s making mistakes that no sane human will do, how you always go first, and why there’s no delay whatsoever to name a few clues.

Games like this should have PVP by default as there’s limits to how intelligent an AI can be. And it’s also a great way to make friends.

The Intimate Mask is overpowered, let it target the same monster more than once and it’s almost impossible to fight back.

Not to mention that i might not even want the new card because my hand is already perfect

It should be optional which card you discard, when your hand is full. The fact it sometimes take my trump card instead of just asking which one i don’t want, ruins my strategy .
