Topic: Serious Discussion / What the hell happened to COCAK? If the time ever presented itself I would love to create another blog.. although just helping someone else might be a better option. I’d like to still be a part of the Kongregate community just a little less burdened.. if someone else would like to take up the COCAK throne, I’d help. |

Topic: Serious Discussion / What the hell happened to COCAK? COCAK wasn't owned.. it's just gone.. if you'd like archivable COCAK information check out"solongcocak.blogspot.com":http://www.cocak.blogspot.com For those of you who would like a official statement: COCAK has been a great project over the years, the longest standing Kongregate fansite, and at a time a great place to go for information about flash games and industry news. Over time though the project became skewed and my time became limited. As I've grown more and into a busier lifestyle time for COCAK has become nil, the project is now under a undisclosed break. One day COCAK may rise again, most typically as a different name. I have not given my writers enough time or commitment myself that they were showing, I gave too many broken promises and not enough fulfillment. I recommend checking out "Casualty Gamer":http://casualtygamer.com/category/flash-games/ and other "Kongregate fansites":http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1/topics/6548 now, maybe my writers could move on and start a new project.. for now COCAK is gone. Sorry Kongregate, it was fun but for now I'm focusing mainly on my studies and work. I'm also not going to be on Kongregate as much as I'd like to but if you see me on, please stop by and say hi. Although now would definitely be the time to create a new Kongregate blog that could possibly replace COCAK if you can find the manpower / commitment. Heck if you make one I wouldn't mind being a writer but I can't focus all of my time on a single project anymore. So long COCAK |

Topic: Kongregate / Suggestion: Personal News Articles/Journals I’d like this but only for developers, I could see it getting possibly abused by users, that and most user journals wouldn’t get read/ would need to be moderated/ and would be excessive to the Kongregate servers. Journals in developers/staff would be a wonderful addition, couple that with subscriptions/comments/ratings and you’ve got a winning package. It could give Kongregate a excuse to use it’s community page. |

Topic: Kongregate / "loot challenges" Theres alot of other costs that go into running Kongregate that I think you aren’t taking into consideration, such as Server Maintenance, Staff wages, Office rent, that and they share their ad revenue so for every pageview they get on a game 1/3 to 1/2 of it goes to the developer. Also you forget that there aren’t any ads on the forums, profiles and other areas of Kong so the games are really the only place that Kongregate makes their money, for a business gaining more money is always a prime factor although over the year or so that I’ve been with Kongregate they normally focus on what the community wants and what is best for the site in general. Whats best for the site right now due to it’s small size is more users, more people will register for Kongregate if they can actually get something material out of it. |

Topic: Kongregate / "loot challenges" ne0pets just because Kongregate is getting money doesn’t mean you have to go all end of the world on it. Independent developers will always upload their games to Kongregate and if they are good will always get the recognition they deserve. If a badge is sponsored by Crest Whitening Strips (for example) who would honestly care, all that means is that the site you play on is becoming profitable, popular, and an all around better place. Advertisements are what fuel the Internets monetary growth and with sponsorships the site can only grow and attract more independent developers looking to cash in on their own great games. More independent developers means, more great hits like Sonny and a broader range of good all around flash gaming. If there wasn’t money involved many developers would’ve just looked right over Kongregate but with it’s ad-sharing and sponsorships Kongregate has become an attractive model and corporate sponsorships only help fuel that drive. P.S. I personally can’t wait for the Teeth Whitening for Whiter Teeth Badge xD |

Topic: Games / Which Kongregate game is your "Buried Treasure"? Runescape isn’t going to have badges because badges are only supported on flash games, even though Kongregate has support for Java and Flash only Flash is supported with badges. |
