type only star challenge tutorial
I’ll try to put my experience esp for those who don’t have dp and don’t buy packs
I usually run a very general deck for star challenges. Usually it revolves around parting gifts, shared fate all, (big explosion is substitute for lack of shared fate all), 1 break immune, 1 or 2 res cards (spell and monster if possible such as constellar sombre + foolish revival for those who get cards via story), cemetery bomb, dark deal if LP is an issue, and if possible get hero counter attack (this paired with cemetery bomb, SFA, parting gift = easy type specific duals). This single card can be used for every type specific challenge and I find useful in every star challenge (minus monster only).
Usually, the first star is lp or monster boost/loss related. Not much strategy needed. Just imagine the dual has a permanent spell with an affect working for the opponent.
The second is type specific. You want to be able to wipe his field with every turn if you don’t want to rebuild a type deck every time. SFA, Big explosion, hero counter attack are your best friends. When it’s monster only, you may want dustflame if you cant win without spells
The third star is 2x,3x decks, limited lp, fragile monsters or self destruct. I’ll elaborate on the latter 2 first. Fragile, use SFA/big explosion to your advantage or run immune based cards. For self destruct, I suggest shared fate and parting gift cards because they’ll continue to deal dmg after death. Immune is a good way of avoiding both however. Limited LP is the most difficult if the opponent runs first strike and you only have 100lp (theres a few duals like that somewhere) Personally, I don’t know any round start heal lp so I cant give lots of tips there.
2x 3x decks, dark world grimoire is your best friend. Run it in the 2nd/3rd channel with immune monster or immune all in the first channel. crystal beacon +growth monster in first channel also works. Avoid using mirror force or other monster destroying cards in the first channel if opponent uses SFA, big explosion etc. Especially useful against zombie master, vampire genesis decks. 2nd and 3rd channels should be dedicated to boosting lp or hurting, crippling, or just strong enough to fight the opposite card head on.
when running sfa/big explosion you want to place it in the first channel. If you’re running big explosion, place only that monster card in the first ch so you don’t lose other cards or waste SFA/big explosions ont he same turn. If you have parting gift cards, great time to place with big explosion/SFA. If the big explosion or sfa doesn’t kill the opponent, your parting gift card has another chance to deal dmg regardless if it lives or dies.
Final word, make sure you finish all the story nodes before attempting stars so you have a sizable number of cards strong enough for challenges.
