Got bored, made this:

That’s only for browsers in the top 100 by keys, so stuff like Lynx and Maxthon is excluded

Stepmania, mostly. Recently I’ve been averaging about 50k keys a day outside of Stepmania, on my main desktop alone, though. Here’s a screenshot with Stepmania excluded.

And there’s about 50% more than that on my laptop and media server.

Honesty, I dont want to install that program, because it is basicly a keystroke logger.

That’s exactly what it is. However, it’s recording the number of keys, not the actual keys themselves.

It actually does keep track of which keys are pressed with the heatmap feature (like this is what mine looks like), but it doesn’t track the order, not sure if you can disable it.

It could send informantion. Dont wanna install, soz guys.

No it couldn’t. It is literally impossible for it to send any data apart from an array like so: {a: 147; b: 37; c: 38; d: 82…}, because that’s the only data it tracks. Additionally, that data isn’t sent anyway, the only keystroke data that’s sent is “Keys: 14,591” (or whatever) unless you specifically upload heatmaps.

WhatPulse and Project Dolphin have been running for over a decade and not a single user has ever had any info stolen, so even if smitmartijn managed to hide a malicious keylogger in the codebase (which he didn’t; I’ve seen the codebase), you’d think someone would’ve found out by now.

you do realise that network speeds are completely subjective right?

A great game at first is http://www.kongregate.com/games/rokawar/rush-team-free-fps-multiplayers after a while it will be 10MB per complete load and then you move onto to Cs: Portable (gain up to 100mb every 2 minutes)

That’s not a very good secret, you could just run a buttload of torrents, or some FTP transfers, or if you don’t have the hard-drive space, the ArchiveTeam Warrior or Majestic-12.

With regards to downloads, about a fortnight ago, I bought 4 new 3TB HDDs, so I’ve been downloaded a load of stuff to fill them up with. Unfortunately, due to the manual effort involved, it’s taking a lot of work to keep my network maxed out (and indeed, I’m failing to do so), because any massive torrents (more than a couple gigabytes) tend to be awfully seeded, and any well-seeded torrents finish in 10-20 minutes.

Gonna go grab the 1.4TB new lossless Touhou pack, but if anyone knows some good 100GB+ torrents that’ll run at a reliable 1MB/s+, then please link, it’d be very much appreciated.

Why not? It was very buggy in the original 2.x builds, but that has been sorted out now and crashes are fairly rare (as well as handled well).

The uptime statistic has only been tracked since WhatPulse 2.0 was introduced, and as such, WhatPulse users from 2002-2012 before that statistic were introduced don’t have any uptime recorded.

What’s the point of counting clicks and key presses? Doesn’t the program send them to FBI afterwards?

The point is primarily so you can see your computing activity over long periods of time, which can serve some interesting data. Mostly for fun, though.

I’m not sure exactly why the FBI would give a shit about how many times I press the F3 key, though. WhatPulse doesn’t track the sequence of characters, only the number of occurrences of each one.

For instance, WhatPulse wouldn’t track “Sellyme<tab>hunter2” when I’m logging in to a website, it’d track this:

<tab>: 1
2: 1
e: 3
h: 1
l: 2
m: 1
n: 1
r: 1
s: 1
t: 1
u: 1
y: 1

Uptime has only been tracked since 2.x, if someone only used WhatPulse on 1.x, they won’t have any uptime (or download/upload).

In addition, the Computers data has only existed for around 5 and a half years, as far as I can remember, so again, that’s not guaranteed to be reliable.

What i wanna know is… how does selly have 173mil keys and only 8mil clicks?

Keyboard shortcuts are your friend. Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+<num> in browser. Ctrl+T, Ctrl+K, type, down, enter to load a site. Alt+Tab to IRC, and it’s all text in there. Cygwin and Command prompt for any file managing. Using Win+R and typing the path of something instead of using Explorer. Also, having recently been using a laptop, that’s a huge encouragement to avoid mouse movement as much as possible, as touchpads are the devil.

Here’s my last fortnight or so of history in chat programs:

(Skype is missing about 35,000 keys on my desktop using Synergy, it recently died on my laptop due to a driver error I’ve yet to resolve. It also has a disproportionately large number of clicks due to Microsoft’s generic click-heavy interface.)

And finally, quite a while ago, I had around 40,000,000 keys accidentally deleted from my account by X-Kal. I received permission to cheat to get them back (as the anti-cheat team (which I was not yet on) could not manually add them back), and I didn’t bother to cheat back however many clicks were deleted along with that (a combination of not caring, and not knowing how many I lost).

In any case, WhatPulse just updated the website with a number of features, including better subteam stats, and perhaps most importantly, GRAPHS! Things are pretty now!

This has now been made, and is currently 173 or so million keys ahead of the non-existing subteams.

Your move.

EDIT: Make that 186 million.

For anyone who hasn’t checked WhatPulse for a while, I’m proud to announce that Kongregate is now in 5th place by keys! Seems like we’re pretty solid there, too, currently 21.3 million keys ahead of sixth.

In addition, we’re 9th by clicks, 5th by members, 10th by download, 5th by upload, and 6th by uptime.

We’re less than 5 days ahead of 7th place by uptime, so we need to try to keep some pace there to have any hope of making the top five by that stat as well.

Seedboxes, probably. Although if you live in Europe with cheap 30Mbps upload speeds, it’d be easy. I average 6-7GB uploaded a day on my shitty 1Mbps upload speed. With European speeds you could hit 1TB in a week.

Try updating to 2.0.2 and/or rebooting. That should get your bandwidth to work.

Made a pulse of about 360,000 keys and decided to update. I’m a little sad that the mouse distance stat is now gone, since I had about 370km of movement, I think (this last pulse was going to be about 10km itself), but I suppose it wasn’t necessary or liked by many. I guess now it’s time to see how the uploads/downloads works out for me.

Miles were removed mostly because they were really buggy, and could be cheated incredibly easily (even unintentionally!). That made the stats for miles completely useless, so there was no point in keeping them. Shame, but the new stats are way better.

Welcome, and welcome back!

2.0.2 is definitely worth it, imo. Way less disk usage, it doesn’t have the issue that caused it to crash after sleep/hibernation, and for me, it has been as stable as a brick since I installed it (whereas all the other 2.0 clients crashed infrequently). It also records uptime properly (2.0.1 was about 1% out), and application and system network data now use the same hook, so they don’t have any disparity.

Also, Kongregate is currently #3 by upload; but I think we can do better than that. Everyone pull out your torrent clients and seed! :D

Wait for 2.0.2 to come out in the next week or so. Some issues with networking (that also caused frequent crashes for some users) have been fixed. Constant disk writes have also been fixed.

Just a few more bugs to catch and 2.0.2 will be pushed out.

I still feel like not all keys are being counted, though (even with version 2.0.1), but I haven’t actually seen when/if this situation occurs exactly.

Possibly in fullscreen Source games? That was an issue with beta, but I’m not sure if it has been fixed or not, as I don’t play any games on the Source engine.

Try restarting. For some reason it seems that Windows computers sometimes need to be restarted for winpcap to take effect, for seemingly arbitrary reasons.

What if someone just leaves autoclicker to go for 1,000,000 clicks? Then keeps repeating? :I

It’s really obvious when people are cheating and it’s easy to ban them. And besides, WhatPulse ignores keys and clicks by the large majority of autoclickers and macros anyway.

There’s actually around the same number of bugs in 2.0 as there were in 1.7. And note that a .7 release is going to naturally be WAAAAY more stable than a .0 release, because it has had 7 updates on a stable codebase.

It just seems like there’s a lot of bugs because everyone’s experiencing them at once, and they’re new. 2.0.1 has seemed to fix the major issues that people encountered in 2.0.

Originally posted by racefan12:

Is there any way to go back to WhatPulse 1.7?

Keys and Clicks in 2.0 break occasionally. Just update to 2.0.1. If bandwidth stats aren’t tracking, make sure winpcap is installed. Also, double check that you have everything enabled in the settings.

(And no, no there isn’t)

FINALLY.

Seriously guys, I only have one computer, and am limited to 250KB/s down, 50KB/s up. How the hell was I first in downloads, uploads, uptime for over a week?!?

I lost 25GB when my computer crashed one time, I should have 45GB upload.

And that’s why you should pulse more frequently.
